Ha ha Great optional answers.

One more quick post for today!
Easy one - Tom and his "Transformer" Vought F4U Corsair!!! Tom is modelling this aircraft better than Vanna can turn letters I think.
This upcoming JJD Corsair can be displayed with wings down or up - magnets at work! Pacemaker wearers beware...
You can display this on one of the Aircraft Carrier Bases with the wings plugged into the raised position. Opt to display it with the wings down and use 2 bases to showcase this beautiful bird! (I am biased, the Corsair is my fav airplane )
The Undercarriage is also interchangeable and the model can be displayed on any of the Flight Stands.
Expect this beaut in 2018 - First up will be another US carrier plane.

Question:
Why were the Corsair Wings moveable?
  • The plane could fit inside the aircraft carrier.
  • Wings were originally designed to flap, to aid the plane if the fuel ran out.
  • They were designed to help the plane sink faster if shot down near enemy ships to avoid capture.

Carlo

It's a real beaut and that's before it's even been painted ! Assuming this like the K&C Fort will be available in sections, when these become available I may very well get tempted to get a few pieces if by then I have any room left !

Steve

I know others are posting photos of Treasure Hunt items but I am going to continue my route on this and post them bit by bit....a more realistic Treasure Hunt in my opinion :redface2:

Since they have been talked about already let's stop in the Sierra Room and check out the new range coming soon!

AZTECS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Aztec Empire flourished between 1345 and 1521 and covered most of Mesoamerica.
There spectacular looking warriors are going to be amazing! Something new to look forward to in 2018!

Thanks Julie, really enjoying the JJD Treasure Hunt. -Almost as good as being there in person. :)

Love those Aztecs !

As you may know, Tim Tyler was unable to attend due to Hurricane Irma so I had my back-up Larry Weindorf of For the Historian Books take his place for the weekend!
A big Thank You to Larry for filling in last minute. For those of you who don't know (my) Larry, not to be confused with George's LaRRy....

Question:
Who Was Spartacus?
Everybody
Tim Tyler
A Thracian Gladiator

And NOW meet Larry (the only way to get these jubilant Larry photos is to heckle him and take about 20 photos by the way - one of my many talents!)
IMG_2702-L.jpg
IMG_2806-L.jpgIMG_2807-L.jpgIMG_2808-L.jpgIMG_2809-L.jpg

The trek continues......but the real question is: Is Spartacus really dead? They never found his body....is he at a secret location with Elvis????

Wow JJD really have some great new figures in the works !

Steve

Larry AND Spartacus????? The stuff dreams are made of! Hahahah

Treasure Hunt in the same room as Larry, or is Larry in the same room as Matt? Same, same - right?
Banter ensued! Matt, Matt, Matt....all I have to say is "Aim small, miss small!"

Moving on to his Treasure Hunt figures! Another new line for 2018 --- Drums Along The Mohawk!
Primarily Primarily based on the book of Walter D. Edmonds who wrote about the area of upstate New York, and detailed the lives of pioneer farmers along the Mohawk River during the American Revolution.
This series will also attempt to cover probably the most significant battle of the American Revolution.

Question: Mel Gibson was born in what country?
  • Australia
  • Canada
  • United States of America

Dimples for days.....;)
IMG_2714-L.jpgIMG_2715-L.jpg

And the Treasure Hunt continues! What room will I land in next? Any guesses on what is left to find???

George, why were you wearing a Chelsea shirt last year and a Newcastle United shirt this year  Do you always wear a football shirt at the Chicago show?
:)

Yes I do, they are extremely comfortable shirts; I've got Chelsea, Newcastle, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Juventus among others, about 14 in total................:wink2:

Plus it's Africa hot here this week and these shirts are perfect for comfort............

Fantastic detailing on the Maxim Machinegun set on a light version of the heavy tripod!These came in at the very end of the War...The Turkish Quartermaster must have had good contacts at Spandau....:salute::{sm4}{sm4}
Nice touch on the gunner and assistant gunner....
Cheers
Luiz

I attended the show today . . . fairly easy to do only living less than 2 hours away. Went specifically to participate once again in the Treasure Hunt and also to see the new JJD WWII US Navy Corsair. Ended up purchasing the newly released WWII carrier deck plates BH-100, BH-200, and BH-300. Here are sone photos I took while "treasure hunting" . . . . Some of these din't turn out so well but I thought I'd share them anyway. Had a great time and got to see and talk with many old friends . . . .
