John Lesinski's Magnificent Creations: Elephants, Camels, Boats and more! (2 Viewers)

Louis, I have three sets of John's creations and they are great to look at especially the elephants. A matter of fact, they were some of my first modern day toy soldiers I purchased from Excalibur Hobbys back in the mid to late 80's.

A little trivia.... Excalibur Hobbys is now Hobby Bunker! Matt was just a wee boy back then. The store was run by his father Bill on Mass. Ave. in Arlington, Ma.

He's been out of business for some time as far as I know. You have to check the secondary market to find his products.

Hi Guys,

I have seen a few of these beauties on ebay but they always bring out the big guns like Louis. So if you want one you better be prepared for a good fight.

I would love to see some photos of your Lesinski sets.:smile2:

Louis,

If I can get my wife to help me post some pictures. I will post John's creations plus other manufactures that I have collected over the years. Granted it will not be as large as yours!!! I am not the technical expert in my house.

At the OTSN Chicago Show last month, I was able to purchase a different 40mm Durbar Elephant as well as some Lesinski castings of fairy tale characters which Brad Lewin was kind enough to arrange to have painted for my daughter, Ashley. Then yesterday, my good friend Doug Luna calls for a chat, I tell him about getting the additional Lesinski pieces, and lo and behold, a package is winging its way to my son Alec for his upcoming birthday containing a complete set of 40mm Elephant Gun Team with marching escort and the German Gunboat from the movie "The African Queen". Photos to follow upon receipt!:wink2:

Doug called today, and a Camel Battery Set is also going to be added to my son Alec's Lesinski collection.:smile2:

My son's gifts from "Uncle Doug" Luna arrived today. I just sent Brad and Terry some photographs of the "Louisa," the World War I Gunboat from the movie the African Queen, a Camel Battery, a 30mm version of the elephant battery, and my daughter's 30mm Lesinski Durbar Elephant, with a polite request that one of them post the photos on this thread.:smile2:

Lovely sets Louis {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks Martyn!:smile2: My son Alec loves his Lesinski animal related sets . . . :wink2:

Thanks to his "Uncle Doug" - our good friend Doug Luna, Alec's Lesinski collection has grown by leaps and bounds. Here are some photos of his Lesinski collection as it presently stands. Does anyone have contact information for John Lesinski? Mark Hoffman told me he will still make or sell pieces for collectors on occasion and my son's birthday is coming up.

Louis,
I am going to the Florida show in January and I know he is there, I had planned on introducing myself and asking just that in person. I can keep you posted if I get anything beforehand.

Thanks Tom! :smile2: I'll take anything Alec doesn't have, another boat or submarine, a vehicle or train, the 54mm size Ox drawn artillery piece, any 54mm figures he might have produced.

Since Ken and Erika Osen made my son a magnficent "African Queen" diorama on which to display his Lesinski German Gunboat Louisa and his Metalshed African Queen, I managed to get him this Lesinski Steam Tender which goes really well with the Louisa:
