JUST ... KING and COUNTRY American Revolution (1 Viewer)

I think there is enough material here now to get this published into hard cover Larry. A big strong Indian man may not be the worst fate for these women.^&grin. Eventually will have to re- read again as one instalment to refresh my memory. Robin.

Good Morning Robin .... I won't tell you what these women are going to face .. you'll have to worry and ponder that for a bit longer.
If I get a chance, I'll write a single page recap of the story so all newbies can get caught up.

A hard cover book ... Ummmmm ... what would be the title ...:rolleyes2:

Thank Robin

you need to send the script to Hollywood...^&grin

Larry,
Been a tad busy the past couple of weeks as you and I have discussed (THANK YOU EBAY!!!), plus today I took a ride to go retrieve and pack that 28mm 12" by 6" French and Indian war diorama I told you about that I'll be bringing to Historicon, but I just got caught up with this thread.

Just outstanding work all around on all aspects; 264 replies/6,537 views, that is incredible, a testament to your skills in planning out, laying out and photographing your collection.

Looks like you'll be a rock star at Chicago this year, I'm thinking of having a "MMTS meet and greet" where collectors can come to our rooms and chat with you to get ideas and inspiration for their collection, the line will be out the door and down the hall to the elevators.

Who needs booth bait at a show, I've got you, so if other dealers can do meet and greets, so can we..............................:wink2:.....................very proud of you my friend, four stars all around, keep this bad boy going, I want to see 10,000 views by Chicago, that's a piece of cake at the rate your going......................

THIS is what the toy soldier hobby is all about.

And also Larry; not to put pressure on you, but I'd love to see you take a crack at Bunker Hill.

As a kid, there are certain military artworks that are iconic to me; the Gettysburg and Atlanta Cycloramas, the Waterloo and Borodino Cycloramas, the Waterloo painting of the highlanders in a square as the Cuirassiers roar down on them, the Prussians storming into Plancenoit, the French lancers breaking up a highlander square at Quatre Bras, the French Cuirassiers charging into the great redoubt at Borodino, the MN regiment's charge at Nashville and last but by no means least, Howard Pyle's depiction of Bunker Hill as British Grenadiers grimly march up the hill littered with casualties from the previous assaults, I remember it from the American Heritage book titled "Lexington, Concord and Bunker Hill"............

Would love to see you do that battle in this thread; Trenton sounds awesome as well, don't get me wrong, but Bunker Hill with the redoubt, the rye and wheat fields below, the rock and wooden fencing along the beach being defended by colonials, the beachfront landings in the harbor, wow that would be epic...................this thread could be an all timer..........................

Afternoon Mr. Miller ... very soon the dastardly strategy that has been devised by the British General will be revealed. {eek3}

In the next few postings, when the General's plan is put into motion, you will witness the possible destruction of the Continental RI Army, the annihilation of the proud Colonial Militia, a tragic end to our patriots and their women and the end of the quest for freedom for the 13 Colonies. {sm2}

BUT .... Who, if anyone, ^&confuse can thwart the tide of defeat and turn it into a WAVE of victory for the fighters of Liberty.

STAY TUNED for tonight's episode.

Have you been sneaking a peek into my planning sketches????

Because YES ... the Battle of Bunker Hill IS on the way.
As in all of these scenes that I make they are "largely representative" of a real and true battles and events, but being recreated in my AWI universe.

Although the drawings are not complete yet it is going to contain about 1000 - 1100 figures; THE redoubt, THE wooden fence, the Harbor and boats, tall grass and more. The only issue that I have been wrestling with is the stability of the K&C figures on a sloped surface. One possible solution I have been exploring is the use of a more STEPPED slope rather than a TRUE slope ... but we'll see.

Okay, I gotta go get some pictures and upload them to Photobucket and then post.

LATER,

'Pon my soul Larry what a top hole ripping yarn sir! The papers here in England are following this campaign in great detail and your dispatches from the front are most illuminating. Coffee houses are alive with talk of this rebellion but the view here is that the forces of his Britannia Majesty shall prevail. Our Penguins tell us that these dashed Rebels cannot triumph without the help of Johnny Frog what what.

M

P.S. only 26 figures to add to reach 1776?

MALCOLM .. that was one of the best posts I've seen so far ... good way to start a day... many Thanks.

I would not be celebrating your victory quite yet ... but things do look bad for the rebels and the King's will set in motion a plan tonight to crush the rebellion.
Stay tuned and offer comments from the .... ENEMY'S view point {sm4}

CONTINUATION of the DRAGOON SAGA

<><><><><><><><><>

The anticipated arrival of the British Army, under command of General Peter Reuss, is entering the farm site with pomp and circumstance.

<><><><><><><><><>

"Joseph, Kendell, do you see the size of the Army that is now entering the area?"
"Good Lord, gentlemen, how can we ever hope to defeat such a power."

"By saying true to the cause, never give up and never surrender, Elijah."

"Those are good words my husband, but they can not stand against such a withering force."

"No Sarah, but David slew Goliath with only a rock, my dear."

"Quite down, all of you!"

--- LaRRy (ARR2-01, ARR2-02, ARR2-03)

"Welcome, General Reuss."

"Good Afternoon, Captain Preston, Gentlemen."

"Sergeant, deploy the men in defensive positions. We will not be staying long, but get the men any needed supplies and have them rest if possible."

"Sir, Yes, right away"

--- LaRRy (ARR2-04)

The Colonial Prisoners, their wives and even Captain Preston watches in AWE as wave after wave of Redcoats parade by.

--- LaRRy (ARR2-05, ARR2-06, ARR2-07, ARR2-08)

"Step Lively, Step Lively .. move to it man, we haven't got all day."
"Let the Corporal know what you need, if anything. We shan't be here long so rest if you want."

--- LaRRy (ARR2-14, ARR2-13, ARR2-12)

Larry,
Just curious, what aspect do you enjoy the most; the planning, the setting up or the telling of the story as it unfolds?

Throwing that out there to see what you think.........................I know what my answer would be...........................

Red coats on mass, what's not to like.:salute::, Robin.
Was not aware Peter liked riding horses!

"Are you seeing the might of the King and the British Empire? ... look hard ... and remember what you see, vermin that you are."

"Oh, Kendell, maybe it was all only a foolish dream, just a foolish dream."

"NEVER! Those words hurt me more than the murderer's bullet, Mary."

"I am sorry my dear. I am just so tired and so scared."

"Ha, the might of the British Empire. It take three of you with guns and bayonets to guard us, bound and tied and two women. Might indeed ...ha!

--- LaRRy (ARR2-15, ARR2-16)

Gentlemen, are any of you aware of the current situation and what has been occurring the last few days?

"I am afraid we have not been informed of any change in plans, Sir."
"Our original mission was to proceed to this location, take into custody all who are found to be here and search and discover any stock of weapons or items that are aid to the enemy, Sir"

"THAT was my fear..... AND by the way ..... the reason that I sent the runners to stop you from doing something stupid that would hurt the current operation that is now underway. The operation that will .. FINALLY .. put an end to this nuisance of a rebellion, sweep away the traderious leaders and restore order in his Majesty's Colonies."
