KING & COUNTRY Dispatches -- April 2021 (1 Viewer)

Prussian army same poses as germans WWl

I think the Russian sailors are also repaints of German figures. Also the Japanese artillerymen [and the gun], the majority of those are repaints of the WW2 German Artillerymen sets. There is nothing for me this month and i am finding that is happening more often or there is only 1 or 2 sets which interest me. Lack of K & C core series, WW2 European and Napoleonics, means there is little for me.

I recently purchased the latest Spitfire, I have all 6, only have the room to display 3 at any one time, but decided to get them all out and noticed they all have the camo pattern, which i had not noticed before, so checked my 3 Hurricanes and all 3 Hurricanes have the same camo patterns.

I feel the K & C monthly releases are becoming uninspiring, there is nothing with the WOW factor in their releases. I really used to look forward to the new releases, but for the last couple of years i look more to T Gunn and J Jenkins dispatches for inspiration and i am spending a lot more with them than i do with K & C as newer eras and ranges come out, such as Aztecs and Saxons/Vikings. While collecting T Gunn WW2 and Romans, plus J Jenkins Roman enemies.

K & C are the vast majority of my collect and will remain so, as i have older sets to catch up on, but i spent less and less on their newer releases. The German WW2 sets of figures are excellent, i recently picked up WS123 and WS124, they are older sets, but they have stood the test of time and are outstanding.

I wonder why the second mortar figure is gripping his rifle??

Surely if he's helping the soldier dropping the bomb down the tube mortar, he'd be holding the next round ??
He's a good looking figure, but doesn't really look like part for a mortar team.

Also I can't see the sight on the M29 mortar, maybe I'm missing something???

Takes an Artilleryman like John to spot such things ! :salute::

Hopefully Andy will do an add on figure for the Mortar team in more suitable pose.

Looks like the same Mortar for VC / US / ANZAC as in pic here. The sight in your photo looks like it would be a very easy thing to come awry when scaled down to K&C size.

My first thought on this set, was 'unique, triplets manning a mortar'. Those figures look very alike. A tattoo does not make 1 different.

The beauty of these and some past Aussie figures is that can be used along with the US figures in certain themes. It just takes some imagination and willingness. Example: Some of these figures (not all) can be used for the US Mortar team and 105mm Artillery team.

Also, I don't mind repaints of previously released figures if they're authentically done and it keeps costs down.

Besides, so the guy with the tattoo has an Aussie girlfriend.

Not sure if that was intentional, but thanks Andy anyway.

Looks like Team is having an impact :wink2:

Hi

Just thought i would ask why 'Team Minitures'? I think the K & C competition is J Jenkins and T Gunn? I know that is where my money has switch too, have seen Team Minitures, but not bought any, quite nice but not really my era/series interest. J Jenkins and T Gunn are, for me, pushing the TS boundries in quality and releases, plus i have noticed they have both been having a lot more forum posts than anyone else, including K & C.

K & C for me will always be the benchmark against which others are measured, but alas i think the competition have surpased them, I have the K & C LW063 Hermann Graf's Bf109 Gustav, it is excellent, then i bought the J Jenkins ACE-203 ME109 France 1940, both were the same price but the quality of the JJ one is head and shoulders above the K & C plane.

K & C will still be taking my money for a while, as i have around 120 older sets i would like and regularly buy from Evilbay and dealers when they are the right price and ofcourse from K & C sale. The newer stuff have too much competition for my funds and would prefer the delights of J Jenkins and T Gunn.

On repaints - it is more profitable for the company to do it, as less manufacturing costs and research. Do not blame them for doing it, they are a business and have to maximise their profits. However, i have the same, yet differnt, moan as many others. It is they are not repainting and releasing the sets i want, FOB 2llb anti tank gun [use the desert version], winter Bergepanther [use the camo one], reuse the SAS jeeps for a small limited range representing the SAS in Europe, reuse the MG Paras to create a range for D Day, attack on Pegasus Bridge and Merville Battery. Reuse the French Commando moulds [with changes] to represent the taking of Port-En-Bessin by 47 Commando, if you have not read about the Battle of Port-En-Bessin then i would recommend doing so, it is upthere with Mervile Battery and the Battle for Carentan.

On a positive note I am looking forward to the new French Resistance range.

Shame there were no Falkland figures released today. Especially as it's the anniversary tomorrow.
Fingers crossed for next month.

Does it keep down the costs? Are re-paints cheaper than new figs? Chris

You can reuse the moulds, so you do not have to create a new mould. With a new figure you would have to create and pay for a new mould.

That's obvious. The question was are the re-painted figs less expensive than originals with new molds. Consider the question rhetorical. I think we all know the answer. Chris

Speaking of repainting, it would be interesting that KC repainted some sets of the WW1 Germans also adding some new figures to make the " federales" and created Mexican revolutionaries armed to the teeth with a large sombrero and this would be a great new line on the" Mexican Revolution"...Zapata, Villa.. {sm3}{sm3}{sm3} What do you think?

Mate he is a dumb GRUNT hasn't worked out what's happening yet, we were drilled to never ever leave or let go of your weapon.^&grin

Being Australian, the tattoo has a double meaning, it is his girlfriend and his sister.

I hope that if they did that, and it’s not a bad idea, they wouldn’t repaint that armored car as it was a fabrication; it never existed.

Here is my Zapata or a Mexican revolutionary, made in Russia.

I like the Germans but who will they oppose. I don’t care if they are repainted

I was hoping the repaint Confederate dismounted cavalry were being released this month. I would love K n C to rerelease them as the original Union figures as well. They were great and gone too soon

Hi Andy,

Had a question re. the Base Flag Sets. How tall are they?

And on a side note, did any of you notice the 5th figure in the picture of the 4-man Japanese Gun Crew?

Perhaps JN066, skipped # in the JN numbering sequence.
