King&Country Gathering with Andy......San Antonio,Texas 16 March 2012 (2 Viewers)

Brad..

Not sure if this is to CM, myself or just an open point. I said the event from the pics looked a good night for all who attended and, when these events are put on they seem to be very well done and have a decent attendance. My comment was initially more about the confusion of the stuka and, some of the teasing etc PA got for those comments from several yourself included which, got him hot under the collar. For that reason, if Andy has said X, its probably right that he keeps stum about it. Posting it cryptically for me defeats that point and just asks for people to comment upon it.
Mitch

I'm not sure why you would doubt that Andy would tell PA some things and keep them to himself as he is a devoted customer and fan. Andy has done that with others and I don't see anything wrong with it. Moreover, is it a crime or wrong to make a devoted follower feel special. We all like to think that someone values what we have to say.

Brad, Thanks for your input as I think you are as they say "Spot On" with your comments. There is nothing speculative or fictional about Andy talking with his customers and sharing some info regarding upcoming products. If it is asked to keep that under the hat, then out of respect that is what will be done. Now to what really matters here is it was a fun time, well executed and again very enjoyable. Thats what the whole thing is about.......FUN !!! As another thread here on the forum mentioned it is a great time to be a collector !!!! A lot of stuff coming out. The upcoming Texas Toy Soldier Show in the same location is slated to be a blast. Should be a good one.

Forum members, do not hesitate to criticize your favorite TS maker(s) if they make a bad product or make something you don't agree with or anything. That's what a forum is for. It does not mean you are not a loyal customer or a traitor. I'm sure your TS maker will not take away any discounts they give you!!! For the prices they charge and the money you spend, you have this right! They need to know what to improve. Not everything should have a rah rah reaction. I think so far there is about 4 or so members that tell it like it is.and I respect them for it.

Four out of 2,371? Who are the other two?{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}{sm4}

AH, I think one of the two is the elusive Moriarty of 'Don't hit me with the negative waves' fame. :wink2::rolleyes2:
Wayne.

A few more pics of the event to add. Seems the topic is heading off track, while the focus "is" Toy Soldiers, King&Country Collectors, and .....FUN....FUN....FUN !!!!!

Very well said. Thanks NotascoldasBastogne. YOU are SPOT ON ! ^&grin

Yes PA those are the ones. Did Andy mention if he was going to make any decent looking figures in 2012? Or just continue with the bad sculpts and paint again?

From the nature of your posts so far I think we can rest assured it does not matter what K&C produces. I think we pretty much get the idea of how you will be commenting for the rest of the year no matter the quality of anything they release.

Mitch, I know something you don't know. I know something you don't know. Not really but I don't think that Andy would tell someone he runs into a couple of times a year his company's secrets when he has to keep them mum because of his competition. I think that Andy was "kicking the tires" to get some feedback on some ideas and to give an event like that an "exclusive" feel. He wouldn't tell customers anything he wouldn't want made public. Andy is like a snake charmer to dedicated collectors.

Well I no first hand at times he let's things slip when your talking to him. If you ask alot questions about the subjects you like he most likley will tell you on the quiet. He told me about the last two tiger's that came out because I said to him that I didn't have one yet and asked when he would make one. So yes he does share intel looking for feedback. Simmo.

Hi Chocolate Mouse, sorry to contradict you but I'm afraid this is not correct. I've known Andy for around 8 years now, and because I can't make it to the Chicago show (as yet) I only meet up with him once a year. Whilst of course he does not go into great sweeping detail about forthcoming releases he does indeed share little tit bits of info which are always not only very much appreciated but always kept in the strictest confidence and NEVER shared on this forum. he does also 'kick the tires' as you say to get feedback from K&C collectors . It is always a pleasure to meet up with him and chat about whats going on with K&C and last December he was kind enough to present me with one of the very first of the UXB sets before they were on release, will finally be posting my dio with these in a few weeks time.

Hope PA and all you guys had a great time at the meet up,looks like a lot of fun. I guess the schedule for rest of the year is Australia, Chicago, London.^&cool

Cheers

Mitch,

I was indeed purely talking from my own personal perspective, have no idea if others let slip what they've been told that is entirely up to them, me I keep schtum because I've been asked to. As for your other points (and I understand you were not talking about me here) I may well be seen as one of the biggest K&C flag wavers and its a badge I'm very happy to wear because its easily my favourite product, but I do hope I'm not seen as one of the ' 'shouter downers' as it were because believe it or not I don't really indulge in that. Choc Mouse has made his opinions quite clear on K&C but I haven't tried to shout him down at all, I believe because we were victorious in the last War we all have the freedom to do and say exactly as we wish, even if I myself couldn't disagree more with the persons point of view. Each to their own and I believe there is room for both questions and ra ra's here.

Cheers

Rob

Sorry Mitch, my post was longer because I replied to your original post:redface2:

Rob..

No problem I took mine out as it would only cause aggro with some and, because we are rather passionate in our posts we always seem to take it on when its not aimed at either one.. My point simply and has always been their is enough room for everyone and people should accept everyone will look at products differently. I can critique a set but, still buy it as do others and, I do think Andy is a genious in the way he plays his audience. Nothing wrong with that.

Mitch,
Since it does not appear you have been in an audience to listen to Andy one has to wonder about your competance to comment on how he is in such situations.

What you may consider "plays his audience" might be something else to those who have actually met him. Could it be simply that he is a friendly person who likes to meet and socialise with people who buy his products and get some feedback and share ideas. Whilst people don't have to like him or his products one thing very clear is that he makes more effort to travel to meet the people who support his business than any other producer.

Regards
Brett

When Andy and Rick have told me things in the past and asked me to keep it confidential, my sense was and is that, one, they did it out of friendliness and, two, that I was never being used. I never ascribed -- or ascribe -- ulterior motives to them. They were doing it because they liked you and wanted to share something with you.

They are two of the nicest people you will ever want to meet and honestly enjoy sharing what they can with collectors who are passionate about the hobby as they are. Forums are great but there is no substitute for one to one contact.
