King&Country LAH Items.....A Sound Collecting Investment (2 Viewers)

The reason most appear to you as a LAH appreciation threads as the collectors here appreciate the well made figures and the creative talent to pose set figures into an almost interactive scenario. I do not think it is the secrative want to be a Nazi party member or belong to the Death head SS.

I myself appreciate more the Waffen SS who went out and fought for their countries belief. Just as I did for mine, allowing the forums ability to discuss such threads.

To note, there is no moral high ground here, I disagree with any atrocities performed by any country. . I,d rather we continue to fight a "gentleman's" war when we can.

Why??? Well, your guess is as good as mine- but something clearly works with this process of theirs completely seperate of what line something may or may not belong to- admittedly, LAH fans will probably be the ones paying a premium to obtain a rare/retired piece but that would more than likely be the case with any of the retired ranges.

Again Mitch, I pose to you the same question as before- why is it you seem so polarized in dealing with Michigan toy soldier felons, london protesters and sending these folks off to the gallows without seemingly too interested in their fair and balanced approach yet when we talk Nazis- we get the "fair and balanced card"??? Again, I'm just curious.

One of my most cherished friendships that I have ever had in my life is with a Chinese man who collects LAH figures and has them prominently displayed in his house- his wife is French!! My irritation with the LAH/ Nazi fanboys is that it seems to be all over this doggone forum- some kind of LAH "balance card thread" some kind of LAH appreciation thread- great LAH dio, etc, etc- seems to be sparking up all over the place to the point where you Mitch seem to be the one taking cheap shots and saying those of us who disagree that we are taking the moral high ground like its some kind of disease- sorry mate, that stuff doesnt fly in my book.

G'day SPICK0001 - you have an impressive LAH collection and I hope others will soon follow and post more photos of their displays. I've never displayed my LAH since I first started collecting them in 2004. I can't wait to do this and having waited to see K&C finally release their upcoming Kreigsmarine band, I might soon do so. Do you have the Leibstandarte band members to go with your diorama? Are you planning on getting the Kriegsmarine band?

I have the original band release, it's actually behind Hitler's Mercedes in the first pic. I have considered purchasing the 2nd, more impressive release but other purchases have occupied my funds. May eventually get it though as I think it is a must have. Looking forward to seeing your pics in the future.
 
Thanks SPICK0001 and I will post some pictures when I eventually display. I like the first marching band of 9 figures - looks like K&C used this as the base design for the upcoming Kriegsmarine band. As a matter of interst there is no stock of the single LAH side drummer currently available from the K&C website. I wonder if they will re-stock or retire? All the other musicians seem to be available.

Yes of course Mitch, the causes and lead up to WW2 are many and complex, I was purely talking about the actual pulling of the trigger as it were, I was just wondering if while taking into consideration all causes and perceived provocations against Germany you still condemn Germany for the final act as it were and of course you did.. As you say many nations had questions to answer in their involvement and this is not a straightforward issue. I must say its good to be able to debate like this on the forum. It shows it can be done without the need for it to get heated all the time.

To return to PA's theme as it were, and I confess I know nothing about LAH ebay prices, but I would imagine the Horse rider/ drummer released some years back would be worth a few quid now, superb set.

I agree about the sigrune horse and, would add that the first and second bands are also highly collectable.

As for the second part of your reply should they have tried to politically work out their greivances.. Of course but, lets look back at the time who would have listened let alone assisted in any form of appeasement for germany who was seen as an aggressor.

There are so many things we should condemn and, considering we as brits ruled three quarters of the world really don't have a huge right to impose values upon many countries nor, does other allied nations. You don't rule the world with kindness. I am able to see both sides plain and simple and, as stated, if someone states X and there is a Y response then its worth saying. Yes, Germany should not have undertaken the annexations of the countries it did before WWII but, it did so with the tacit approval of the west and, remember how well the allies protected the Chech's

Its easy to condemn one country who did undefendable acts without addressing our input in assisting them to get to that stage. Its not black and white or, that easy. Many criticise people like Chamberlin but, many pre that agreement appeased the germans far more. Good points Mitch. Everyone has a different opinion on all these matters, what is to one person an atrocity is to another a necessary act of War. I remember listening to BBC Radio four interview with a Brit Para , captured at Arnhem, sentenced to death for sabotaging a concrete factory he was awaiting execution in Dresden during the raids. Freed from his prison by bomb damaged he legged it into the city and the sights he saw were in his own words nothing less than a War crime, he has suffered from depression ever since, not been able to hold a relationship together and will never trust authority again. Few combatants had totally clean hands its true, and as I said before we can argue the point of bombing and who was worse, but its little comfort really to anyone who suffered, from whatever country. I think sometimes we do forget the German point of view because we had to win and we did win, maybe thats why we feel ok about Tigers and Panthers etc because in the end they lost big time. I doubt we'd be collecting if they'd won and we were speaking German today!.

As for the LAH range, one thing I do like about them is the personality figures K&C produce, they do really look like them don't they and a grouping of these figures looks impressive, even if in real life a bigger bunch of weirdos it would be hard to imagine.

Well......Getting back to topic. a couple of great examples were just mentioned here. the LAH036 first Sigrune drum horse. Original retail was under $75.00 each. Have seen many sell in the $400.00 + dollar range.Now of course with the newer Sigrune coming out prices have come down on the 1st release.The LAH fife and drum set was another sought after retired set. Just 2 examples here. Point here is they had realised a secondary market value much higher than their original retail.Next point to emphasize. this all does not mean ones focus is all about speculation and buying and selling. But.....it is nice to know what we all spend our hard earned money on is not turning into worthless dust. Cheers friends :) Enjoy our hobby....
 
Where you look into the e site you see many early TS items up for bid. Some in excess of $800. Where there is demand, there is high sales prices.

I think its one mans freedom fighter is anothers terrorist. I have not fought in a battle against a wartime enemy at least so, I don't know what I would or, would not do. We can all posit we would behave well and do the right thing but, would we??? Decent soldiers decent men then and now (check the closed thread in the chat part) do unspeakable things in war situations. I just don't scream and shout at the bad things that happen whether by our side or others as we, are the fortunate ones, who have not been placed into that situation.

Interesting how these things crop up but, as you say always interesting to chat about

It is indeed good to chat about these things Mitch, its one of the best things about this forum. I too have not fought for my country , I am very very fortunate that an earlier generation did so I wouldn't have to. If all I've got to moan about is my credit card bill and scraping the ice off the car this morning , well then I haven't got it too bad.

Well, is this the offer price or what it was actually sold for? I mean that I can offer goods for sale with a very optimistic price tag. But the question is if I'm really finding a buyer. The offer price doesn't really reflect the actual value of an item IMO.

Its the asking price so, I would suppose you could negotiate with the owner but, its always been around the £450 to £600 when I have seen it sell.

I have seen these here in the U.S. on E-Bay go for between $425.00 to $475.00 on the average.Still well above original retail when first released. ^&grin
