I thought you would of gone for the zimmeritt Porsche turret as there were no non zimmeritt Porsche king tiger that saw action as Terry pointed out ?

I don't know of any that got into combat. Fmethorst has a list of all the Porsche turrets and there were quite a few without zimmerit but most or all of the ones that went to combat units seem to have zimmerit. It looks like 29 had zimmerit and all went to two combat units and 21 did not have zimmerit and all went to training units. Some of the ones from a training unit may have been lent out for use at Arnhem, but probably did not see combat, if in fact they were there. And maybe some did get into combat from the training areas late in the war when Germany was being over-run? http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24996&page=2

Purely asthetic I just think the porsche turret looks better IMO

Just pre-ordered the Henschel Turret w/out Zimm ( winter). This is my first AFV from CS and I'm quite excited :D

I ordered the Henschel w/o zimm in the Normandy scheme along with the re-loaders set. You won't be disappointed with CS!:)

Anyone notice that on the CS website, when looking at the Normandy KT pictures, on the KT without zimmerit, the turret number 332 is two different sizes between the undamaged sample (small size number) and the damaged track version (large size number)? I assume this is just a pre-production glitch, but which size number will be used? Doesn't make a bit of difference, just curious. -- Al

Did no one else notice this or know the answer? Brian? -- Al

Yes I saw that too but did not think too much about it ;) . Maybe CS can answer your question when they see it.

Might just be prototypes and promo pictures I actually prefer the smaller numbers

I am planning to buy one of the Henschel Normandy, Is the the ambush pattern accurate, Did the TigerII have this scheme. And secondly can an easy eight penetrate the armor that the King tiger has?

A stand Sherman could not take out a Panther let a lone king tiger from the Front & I doubt even a Sherman firefly could :( , as for ambush camouflage I've seen it a lot in photos

The ambush colour is very close to what was represented on german armour but, even the german tanks were not so uniform at that time so, its about as close as you can get IMO. I would think it would not have much trouble penetrating the side armour depending on range. the front would be a different matter and, there are plenty of pics of KT's which US tankers have shot repeatedly at the armour of disabled or abandoned tanks to no avail.

I do not think there was a single example of a KT being knocked out by a frontal penetration shot, at least I read that somewhere. Obviously, then, the tanks would have been knocked out from the side, rear, or abandoned due to lack of fuel or mechanical failures. -- Al

Thanks for all the Info. I really Appreciate it!!. And with the Ambush pattern, Since I saw the KC Panther In Having it. It has been a real want for That Pattern. And the reason Why I am buying the King Tiger.

This Konigstiger at La Gleize was used as target practice not one shot went right through the glacis plate!!!
