Thanks Wayne. I have the other paint scheme as well. I really like these two King Tigers from the past.

Great pics!!

I think these Tigers are the best I think they are better than the new version IMO.
Mitch

Nice pics Duke, she's a great afv and like your trees too:cool:

Talking of trees have you seen the new JG ones? Truly amazing. I have been making my own from treemendous for a while but, these would save the work and, repositionable branches.

We are being spoilt these days!!

Mitch, I have all three of these versions and yes the last one was a bit of a dissappointment....I was exspecting it to be much more detailed then the first two.....The first two are "early K/C"....a bit primative but not bad for what they are......Again I was hoping for a much improved King Tiger in my last purchase....Maybe I am exspecting too much;...But I am seeing better AFV releases from both Figarti and especially from First Legion who are un-matched in realism.....Just this collectors opinion....Nice set up.....Great trees.....Best Vezzolf

I got the last one & was hoping for more detail as well but I'm now thinking of repainting it :)

I think the last King Tiger is by far the best. IMO, BBG016 has one of the best, most realistic paint jobs K&C has produced - a muted ambush pattern which is spot on for that version of the tank. It is the Henschel version of the turret, the most numerous of the Tiger II, it is a full 1:30 scale which really shows off it's size, and it correctly has no zimmerit. The 2 earlier versions are Porsche turret models at 1:32 scale and should have zimmerit. WS071 is just a repaint of WS067. No comparison to me which is the best model of the three.

Thanks Rob and Mitch. :) Rob, these trees are a combo of Build-a-Rama Bocage set and a couple of Woodland Scenics trees and bushes. Mitch, I agree that the new JG trees do look great. I'm planning on getting a few of those.

Thanks Vezzolf. The WS067 and WS071 are older K&C and are "underscaled" as Terry mentions. I haven't seen the newer BBG016 in person, but the pictures seem to indicate, and K&C states that it is larger than the earlier two. The newer one does look good to me however, but I also like the two older ones as well. I chose not to get BBG016 since I already had these two plus the BBG016 cost $225 and I had some other things higher on the to get list.

Hey Duke, sweet looking dio but I also prefer the recent King Tiger.

Thanks OzDigger. The more I think about it, I might just have to get the recent one as well at some point if my budget will allow.:)

Mate, you may have to beef up your shelf for the new King Tiger - she's a big girl :)

Can't agree with you at all on that comment, the latest King Tiger is superb, a beast really, true to scale, paint scheme as Terry memtioned is very well done, very realistic and the sales back it up, it continues to this day to be sought after by collectors .............

It's on my Core Collection list not to be sold while my earlier version Porsche turret is not on the Core list.

The brown camoflage on the paint scheme for the newer King Tiger looks to be the wrong shade of brown....That's how it seems to my eye...Color looks off...I was exspecting better on this tank....Not terrible at all but falls a bit short for me

Vezz,
I have all 3, this one is pretty darn good, brown looks good in person.

In October of 1944, in order to conserve paint, the German plants left the tanks in the basic RAL 8012 red oxide primer, they then sprayed on patches of dark yellow RAL 7028 and dark green RAL 6003, thus creating the "Hinterhalt" (ambush) paint scheme.

Brown was not used on the King Tigers Frank, so the color is spot on.

K & C clearly did their homework on this one.

It looks red-ish brown to me.....Oh well not one of my favorite K/C efforts....to each their own....To me the color seems to have "better shades" on the treefrog web-site which prompted me to make the purchase....The coloring and detail was not as appealing to me in the flesh....It seems a little to bright in color and lacks weathering.....Wish it was more like the photos.
