Thanks again John;)

Here are a couple of quick pictures that I have just taken before I disappear in to the garden to enjoy the heat and have a splash around in the pool:D

As I have mentioned before, I live 5 miles from the Gordon’s School (originally the Gordon Boys' School). Last year I called at the School and was given permission to take some pictures of the statue of General Gordon in the School grounds

I have used a couple of the pictures to accompany my latest addition

The Statue originally resided at Khartoum, but was allegedly dumped in the Nile when The Sudan gained Independence. After being retrieved it was presented to the School in 1959

Here is some info from wikipedia about the School

Great photos Martyn, looks like Len used the statue as a model, i think he said as much in one of his catalogs. What a great likeness.
JW

Martyn...I have to agree with JW...the likeness is too similar...this was his model for sure...great acquisition and photo...

Another corker to add to your collection Martyn and you were correct, he looks nothing like Gordon the Gopher :D

Hi Martyn,

Thanks very much for sharing your latest addition of the General Gordon set.

It is indeed a very nice set which I have yet to acquire.

I learnt something new today; I thought the General Gordon statue was still in Khartoum.:(

Raymond.:)

As you can see there are several tassles missing from the camel's saddle but I was told these are in the workshop at the School waiting to be refixed

Very nice Brian:cool:

I have been at the War and Peace Military Show in Kent for the last week and only managed to hop on the Forum from time to time.

I shall do my bit and get the camera working this week;)

Gee Martyn I thought you might be driving throughout the country side with the top down or loafing around a pool. It'll be nice to see you at play again. Nice addition to your Trophy's Land of the Zulu Brian it's one of my favorite sets.....Joe

Ha ha Joe, you know me too well:D

In fact I was having a great time with my mates in the 4MARDIV reenactment group, also making a few bob on the side selling some "highly collectable" militaria to supplement my Trophy collecting;)

Cheers
