London Show Pics? (1 Viewer)

Sammy, your diorama turned out awesome! You should be rightly proud with it, as that is some quality work by TM Terrain.

To all those taking the extra time to post pics, you have our thanks. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.

Though, I have to ask, no more pics of the First Legion Romans.{eek3} I'm finding the more I look at these pics, the more my resolve to stay with one range fades away!

That way the guys who haven't met you will know who they are conversing with on the Forum, AND know to to avoid at the show (just joking bout that {sm4})

Looks like a 'fine fat time' was had by all,

John

I "know" five of them :smile2:
From the left along the bar, it is wraith, trooper, Rob, aujj65 and the UKReb. Can't provide the names for the fellow forum members on the very right and in front.

Thanks Noah, when I get it home I'll posts some pics with some vehicles in it, and yes those Romans look sharp, gets harder to stay focused on one line, but I'm tryin:)...Sammy

Hi Joe,

My pleasure my friend, happy to help. You are quite right Joe, I could spend many thousands of pounds in half an hour in that place! So much wonderful product on show. This may cause debate and argument Joe but I think the Romans are possibly the best range FL have produced so far, they are stunning figures full of realism and action, I prefer them to FL's WW2 releases, and this is from a WW2 fan such as I !. Figarti's new ACW range (Marco Polo I should say) are so good that these will be hard to resist. I also think K&C's Greek range would look real good on Figarti's temple . Had a wonderful show Joe. Not only did I come away with all the retiring Big Red 1 figures and the K&C Church facade, but the very Generous Mr UK Reb brought along a gym bag stuffed to bursting with ACW figures, cavalry, cannons , trees etc. His generosity is very
much appreciated. And if that wasn't enough Alan ( Trooper) also gave me a stack of ' The Blue and the Gray' ACW magazines packed with articles for me, this was also very kind of him .

On top of all this Joe it was as usual a huge joy and a great laugh to see all the chaps in the bar , this has quickly become a highlight of the collecting hobby for me and going on the remarks the others as well. Very enjoyable to sit around and chat about the hobby, what we've just purchased etc in a friendly atmosphere over a few drinks, in fact after about three hours some of us got hungry and went out and found a cafe/bar for some much needed food!

Cheers Joe

Rob

Hi Rob, I'm so happy to hear you had a day to remember. There's nothing like the energy a toy soldier show brings. Some day I will venture across the pond so I can part of it. There is just so much amazing stuff on display at the London shows. The variety is incredible, and the hobby is so well represented there. That's great that you picked up all of the retired Big Red 1 figures before they're all gone. They really are brilliant sets. I have most of them but have been dragging my feet on picking up a few of the sets. The church facade is beauty too...great pick up! That's also great to hear of UK Reb's and Trooper's generosity! I'll say you had a good day! And to top it all off w/ drinks and food with friends, well, it doesn't get much better than that.

Regarding the FL Romans, you'll get no debate from me Rob. I think you are spot on about those figures. For a WWII guy to be that impressed w/ ancients, well they must be extraordinary! From what I see in the pics, the FL Roman range is going to be a huge success. I plan on buying one or two before I jump in headfirst. But it's pretty much a done deal for me since they also announced that they will be producing Barbarians as well , and I'm always been interested in those who fall under the umbrella of "barbarians". It will be fun to watch the range unfold and develop, and the same can be said of the Marco Polo line. They really look sharp. I hope the MP line expands into other areas as well. I'm sure it will, but it would be nice to know a little bit more about their focus and working model. But it sure seems to be starting off with some stunning entries!

Thanks again for sharing your magical show experience here, and congratulations on the mighty haul you pulled in!

Cheers,
Joe

Thanks Joe. You are spot on re the social side my friend, its so good to meet up with all the guys three times a year for a chat over a few drinks and to compare what we've purchased and what we've seen. Funnily enough a few years ago these guys were fellow collectors and now they have all become friends, but if you ask them if I'm a friend of theirs they may well deny it!^&grin:wink2: (if I don't get the drinks in!!)

I also fully agree with you regarding FL's Romans Joe. At the moment most of the figures are fully in action, but should they release some that are perhaps more static or on sentry duty, these would look just brilliant on the new Figarti Roman Temple. With the release of these stunning figures I can fully undertand why 'Ancient' is suddenly fully in fashion!.

And now with Bobs gift of his ACW figs and my ruined K&C Church, I've two dio's to start planning!

Cheers Joe, always good to hear from you mate

Yep the previous poster got them all right (Simon, Alan, Rob, Jeff, Bob) except the guy on the far right is Andy - UK BOD and that little guy in the middle auditioning for the part of Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones is me :)

I really hope those ACW Marco Polo figs will actualy be produced. Even though I have all of the original Aeroart releases except Chamberlain, I will have to buy them. Anyone get an approximate release date ?

Of course we are just seeing photos and it's early days, but can you compare these new figures with the original Aeroart ones you have? And indeed with First Legion's ACW releases?

Many thanks,
Paulo

Thanks for filling in the names..... I'd had a beer or 2 when we met last year, but it was good to meet up and put those names to face again!

The others now will be able to do at the next show.....

Cheers,

John

^&grin^&grin

It's always nice to connect faces with names- When I was first looking at the picture, I could have sworn Rob was Trooper and Trooper was Rob{sm4}^&grin! Wraith and UK Reb looked just about the same as I thought.
-Sandor:salute::

P.S. I have some pictures of myself reenacting in the other hobbies thread.

Cheers and many thanks to Rob, Simon, Trooper and Jeff for the report and especially photos of the show. I do this regularly at shows I attend and it's a great a sacrifice posting so many pictures but its FUN and WORTH IT!

Again, I say thank you and I enjoyed it.

Carlos
