London symposium 2013 (2 Viewers)

What is the latest news from the symposium ?

Richard

Richard,

I have not heard anything from Clive lately. I will send him an e-mail and see if we can get some definitive dates and planned events.

Guys, I will not be seeing you in June as the family trip is at the end of June for 2 weeks...................however, I will be going to London for a few days in the beginning of December for that show, so I will finally meet the British contingent! I guess if I have any painting and repair needs, I should bring those along................................!!!!!!!

TD

Tom, I have no idea when the Symposium will be in June, as Clive and I left that up in the air, so we may very well be seeing you.

We'll have the G8 Summit this June. Although it's in N. Ireland, I suspect London may also be a bit busy with the usual protests. That's set for the 17th and 18th June, so I'd suggest either the beginning or end would be the better bet.

Howard do yourself a big favour and go down to Devon & Cornwall . I spent a couple of months down there and loved it. The Cornish will tell you they were never concord . Simmo.

Have I got this wrong, I thought the symposium would coincide with the show?

That was the original plan, and it still may coincide, but the show was moved from the end of June, when our kids are out of school, to the beginning of June, when school is still in session, so we either can't bring our kids, or can't stay for any appreciable amount of time.

I thought the whole idea behind what was arranged in the US under the banner ''symposium'' was that you visit a collector view his collection and, some spin off events etc are ran from this?

How can you have a symposium in London 2013? Who's collection are you viewing? everyone attends a show has a meal before that as a get together. Is that really a symposium?

when people travel from Australia and the US they will obviously want then to take in the sights and similar not necessarily connected to TS. I am looking forward to seeing what transpires, do you organise buses for a visit to Clive or the Neville's (buses, venues tickets all need to be booked and bought early on) seems the only real obvious choices if you wish to see collections, do you have events planned and, what are they, will everyone want to attend, can many of the Brits extend to some of these events with obligations after a show. Mid Jan now and people don't even know the dates its coinciding with.

Seems by now at the very least the basic outline should be made and, at least the dates made. Possibly should have just been a ''beano'' to the London show a do the night before and, everyone does their own thing after as that's what seems to be going to happen.

Mitch,
Interesting post. I have two quick questions for you.
(1) Will you be attending the June London TS Show and the Dinner on the night before and on the night?
(2) What the heck in a "beano"?
Cheers Howard

Howard...

Depending on the health of the wife I want to get to the London show but, that's my priority and, everything else is insignificant. I think, again many are commenting on the lack of specific details but, nobody seems willing to ask out loud on here (so, to speak)

A beano is trip akin to a jolly boys outing and, having just watched Only fools and Horses recently it kind of fitted the post.

Howard,

Will be seeing the Brit brigade in the pub at the next show in March so we can have a good chat about things and see who wants to do what, as always I'm sure there will be some strong opinions, will keep you updated mate.

March agenda will include strategic options for the invasion of a goose farm in Essex.
I'm personally striking off June for this (apart from the middle bit).

Do we yet know how many overseas Treefroggers will be attending? Judging from the responses so far there will be contingents from the US, OZ, the Netherlands at least. A rough idea would be useful. It will also be useful if some form of identity labels are worn with name and forum identity both shown. Trooper

Alan mate,
How about a big Kangaroo on a green and gold rugby jersey.^&grin or maybe Dress Blues with the Prince of Wales Lighthorse ensigna.^&grin Just joking cobber. I think any Aussies attending will stand out like a sore thumb. Also to the best of my knowledge, and I would love to stand corrected, I and my GLW are the only Aussies attending.
Subject to any agenda changes, I have allowed the Friday night for Dinner and drinks with anyone with long arms and short pockets^&grin, the Saturday Show and lunchtime meet'n'greet and a semi formal TS Dinner on the night. Followed by a trip to an Open House at my good mate Clive, the one and only Grey Goose's Ranch^&grin on the Sunday.
I am certainly hoping to catch up and chat with all the UK crew and the Belgium boys, Richard and Harrie
plus any other Treefrogger from sunny Europe who cares to attend and enjoy a cold one on my Mess Card.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Howard

Howard, well I shall be there for either the night before the show or the night of the show and of course the lunchtime get together during the show. Hopefully we will have a full turn out of the Brits to welcome you guys. I understand that Jack and Waynepoo may also be there subject to their travel arrangements. Clive is a very busy chap and am sure he will drop us a line when he gets chance, should be a good gathering of the chaps at the show mate:salute::

Cheers

Well said that man. Personally think it would be a laugh if we could all pile onto a coach and head to Bovington for the day, would have to be an early start but would be fun. Or if not Bovvy how about Duxford??

So far we are hoping for Howard, Louis, George, Sammy(???), Jack , Waynepoo, am not sure if Tom can make it for show and I think he said later in the month. I hope all the Brit brigade can make it to the show in March and maybe we can get Clive to join us for a chat about June.

Plenty of time really, look forward to seeing you all again first in March. Alan, we missed you last time, when you walk down the slight cobbled slope outside center, turn right and its the first pub you come to, really hope you can join us mate.

Best

Hi Rob, sadly I will not be able to attend:( the costs of airfare isn't to bad but when you have lodging, food, transportation to pay for it becomes awful exspensive, so I will be watching the London June from home, but looking forward to a new June dio from David!!! maybe one year I will be able to make it hopefully...Sammy
