Man cave remodeling (2 Viewers)

I am pleased with the new look and should enjoy it although it put a dent in my soldier budget.

Yes, the insurance covered new carpeting, some towards new panelling and trim. Electric and heat runs along with the outside break was my expense.I think State Farm treated me very good. No hassell or problems except getting the new carpet put down so I could get finished.

One call to State Farm and the delay was ended quickly. Two crews came last Sat. and installed it all. John

Nice job John on the remodeling! Plenty of space for more toy soldiers :)

Good, water damage is enough of a headache!

Years ago we had a washer hose let go in the middle of the night dumping 5000 gallons of water in the laundry room, main floor of the house and down into

one of our garages onto our porsche:eek: Fortunately the sunroof was closed! The damage amounted to 35K and everything eventually worked out ok once our

lawyer got involved.

I'm glad you didn't have any hassels!:)

Lucky we were home when it broke. I did not notice a drop in water pressure while outside watering with the hose, till I heard my wife yell to get downstairs quickly.I shut off the water and well pump circuits but it took awhile for the pressure to lower the water flow. It would really been a mess if we were gone or on vacation. Now on, I will shut off the water when we are gone.

I don't know how the poor people who get their homes flooded by rain or hurricanes ever recover. Mud slides would really be the pits. I was lucky.

I agree. In our situation we woke up and heard a strange noise...we came downstairs and saw one of our dogs standing in the livingroom in water!
The washer hose had split and the high stream of water broke through two walls of drywall and made a fountain in the living room. I quickly (sort of pointless at that time) shut off the water and ran downstairs and opened a garage door and out went most of the 5000 gallons of water!

Insurance company sent out water emergency team who tore out all the carpet and set up blowers in main house level. Water company was very nice and did not charge us for water.:D Main damage was to a finished room (my shop) and a finished garage with carpet (industrial). A lot of items to be auctioned were lost in my shop, but there was no damage to any items in my
collection.

Folks that endure floods and hurricanes really take a beating, and often have a difficult time recovering. Ours was minor, and we were back to normal in a couple of months.....with stainless steel hoses on a re-located laundry room.:D

Mine has a bar (hidden in a fake antique globe stand) but my wife drew the line at a big screen TV . . . she said that and a bathroom in my man cave and she and the kids would never see me again . . .:p;):D

What a great space John, you certainly have put a lot of hard work into it. Looks great and I bet you are now having fun setting up all of your toys soldiers :)

Nice remodeling job. You have got a great space there.

My Grandson is a good helper and really worked the shop vacuum emptying water.

The Kid looks just like you, except his grin is ear-to-ear standing next to his hero! Thanks for sharing your trials and tribulations, looks fantastic.
