So senseless as to be beyond comprehension Brad. One innocent person murdered for no reason and three lives thrown away for nothing.

Unfortunately all three are under 18 years of age, so can only get life instead of death.
Here is a picture of the suspects that most news organizations are not showing. Mostly
because of age.

That's a shame. They should be punished in the same way they killed this man.

It's outrageous and tragic for that young Australian and his family. The wheelman and triggerman should be put against a wall and shot (after due process, of course). The third one deserves life for terminal stupidity. -- Al

Gentlemen,
This crime has truly had a huge effect on the residents of the City of Essendon where young Chris Lane was born and raised. He like my own son was born in Essendon and attended St. Bernards College. He also played baseball with the Essendon Bombers, the club that I as a junior played a couple of years.
Shootings of this stupidity just don't happen in the Land of OZ and it is a huge shock to the Lane family and the Essendon baseball community. A pre match dedication to young Chris will be held this weekend before the Essendon Bombers play Melbourne University.
May those responsible receive their just deserve.
Cheers Howard

Mate and they laugh at our "Stupid" gun laws, this is so unbelievable its beyond words what a waste of life.

My wife wanted to know why young scum like these had guns. It's the culture of violence in this country.

Lets see how much time Al Sharpton spends on this story. I'm sure he'll say they were some how provoked by this poor guy.

I wonder if one day the rising tide of calls for gun control in the US will become so huge and unstoppable that it will break the bond between the citizens and their guns , meaning no longer will I nnocent people walking down the street get shot in the back or innocent children at school mowed down with such cowardly disregeard for humanity?

Culture problem. Switzerland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, France to name a few are not significantly behind the U.S. in per capita ownership of firearms and have a fraction of the violent crime.

Personally I would not want to live in a country where the general population are disarmed and defenseless.

Thugs like these are a product of a culture in decline, and the worse it gets, the greater is the need for people to protect themselves. The rest is up to the courts.

gun control like we have here in the UK or in other countries where guns are not as available as in the US??? Many people have been shot here If someone wants a gun for whatever reason they will get one. Gun control that you seem to elude to will never stop one person being shot by another.

The people who feel the need to do these things for the multitude of reasons will do it regardless of what restrictions are implemented.

Gun control and further restrictions does nothing whatsoever to resolve and address the issues that sections of society feel they need to have a gun and use it as a means to get what they want or as some symbol of achievement within their sub culture.

More gun control, restrictions even a full ban will never stop one person being shot from the day they ever implement any further restrictions anywhere in the world.

Not sure that Australia is immune as suggested as there have been many incidents there Port Arthor and The Monash shootings to name a few. The problem is not the gun but the person behind it

Let me tell it like I feel it : the problem is there, in what you re saying...
it's only causing an escalation in violence and gun related crimes.
where I live, one of the major cities in Canada, I do not feel the urge to own a gun to protect myself. And I feel safe walking in any parts of Montreal... now whenever I go in the US, I do not have this feeling anymore, anywhere...it's sad.
