I bought this World War I Austrian Skoda artillery set at on online auction several years ago. It was unboxed, but I believe that it may be the set offered by the Toy Soldier Shoppe in Wisconsin then owned by Bill Schommer. The figures are from Superior and the resin gun and base are marked Fusilier.

This is a Frontline Figures early glossy set that I recently picked up on eBay. It goes with the color party set that I bought this year directly from Gerard Prime at the West Coaster. It is set PD.2 Austrian Hoch and Deutschmeister Regiment from their Parade Dress line. These early Frontline glossy sets look a lot like the early King & Country glossy sets since they were both done by the same sculptor.

Is that the WW1 92 mm Howitzer that Fusilier still has in their catalog ? Looks very similar, but I am not an expert on WW1 guns

If I couldn't get it, I'm pleased that you did!

Bosun Al

Al,

I hope we weren't bidding against each other, but I really did want this set to go with my color party set. The last two years, Gerard has been bringing some old, glossy stock to the West Coaster to sell. I picked up several Parade Dress color parties from him that way.

Have fun on your Canadian cruise. We vacationed in the Maritimes in 1978 and plan to go back someday.

Mike

I don't have the Fusilier catalog, but I believe that the caliber of the Austrian Skoda artillery piece that I have is much larger than 92mm---my best guess would be more like 280mm.

Bob,

Thanks for sending me the photo from the Fusilier catalog which I have attached for all to see. It does appear to be a very similar gun on a slightly different base. I am fairly confident that my artillery piece has a much larger caliber than 92mm. If you look at post #722, in the third and fourth photos you can see the large black shell with a brass ring at the back of the gun, near the officer. Also in the fourth photo their is a crewman holding a powder charge which appears to have about a 10 inch diameter. In the fifth photo, you can see the diameter of the gun tube which looks large enough for a man's head to fit into, although I wouldn't personally try it to prove a point.

Palmetto Kaiser Gardegrenadiers (I think). Since Palmetto's sets are not boxed, I don't have a label description to be sure of what they actually are.

This is a special commission set from Hiriart that I ordered last year and just received a couple of weeks ago: "Magyar Gyalogsag" World War II Hungarian Infantry, Operation Barbarossa. The first four photos are of my set while the fifth is a stock photo.

Still another special commission set that I order last year from Hiriart and recently received is World War I Force Publique, Parade Dress, Belgian Congo, 1914. The first four photos are of my set while the fifth is a stock photo. They have subsequently added this set to their regular catalog as set number 1357.

This is the fourth and final special commission set that I ordered last year from Hiriart and recently received. It is World War I Portuguese Colonial Infantry, Mozambique. The first four photos are of my set while the fifth is a stock photo. Bob Walker also ordered the same four special commission sets that I did. This is his personal favorite of the four.

I picked up this unidentified set of World War I/inter-war era British Infantry on eBay. They appear to be a Bastion Models set made by Andrew Rose. I wonder if any of you out there on the Forum might be able to identify this regiment? They have a red and black shoulder flash, a red cap badge, and are wearing cavalry-type breeches. The officer has a white or silver insignia over his left tunic pocket. Thanks.

These are photos of a recent purchase of six Hiriart non-catalog sets. From top left, clock-wise, Coldstream Guards, King's Own Scottish Borderers (I think), The 60th Rifles, The North Lancashire Regt, British Line Infantry, and The Royal Welsh Fusiliers.

Well, I have discovered the answer to my own question (see post #735). This is Bastion Models set A.13 World War I Royal Air Force in khaki. The original Zulu War sets A.12, A.13, and A.14 (East Kent Regt, South Wales Borderers, and Somerset Light Infantry, respectively) were discontinued in the 1990s and this is the new set A.13 which is based on identical sculps from set A.25 Royal Air Force 1925 where they are wearing their post-war RAF blue. NB: This set is currently listed on eBay.

I recently picked up this Bastion Models set A.53 AUSTRIAN INFANTRY IN ACTION, 1914 from Matt Murphy of Hobby Bunker. They are wearing their 1908 Service Dress including ski caps.

I just picked up this unboxed Kingcast artillery set on eBay. It is set No. A1 DRAGON GUN WITH BOXER GUNNERS AND MANDARIN OFFICER. It is also known as set No. BX1. I was able to purchase it for about the same price it originally sold for in 1989 or about $68. I now have three different manufacturers versions of the Boxer Rebellion dragon gun: Trophy, Bastion, and Kingcast.
