A couple of months ago, I picked up, on eBay, a set of three Frontline Figures Napoleonic Imperial Old Guard Grenadier drummers. I have added them to my Battle of Austerliz display, as shown.

Thanks Al. If you like classic, glossy 54mm toy soldiers which are similar to old Britains, but much better with respect to sculpting, detail, accuracy, and painting, then it is hard to beat them.

I just picked up from the post office yesterday, ten Austro-Hungarian sets made by Doppel Adler Soldaten. Four of them were for me and six were for Bob W. These photos show my DAS sets 2A Bosnia Infantry (officer and 5 men) and 2C Bosnia Infantry (Standard Bearer, Company Drummer & Medical Orderly). I will open a new thread under glossy manufacturers where I will post photos of all ten sets plus four more that we have on order when the order is complete.

Thanks Ray, they are nice. I use to see them about 20 years ago at the Chicago Show when Bill Schommer and then Paul Herrmann use to carry the Doppel Adler Soldaten line.

Correction: In post #1149, I referred to them as Bosnia Infantry rather than Bosnian Infantry. It was either a senior moment or my anticipation about the Balkans escorted tour we are taking next year which will cover nine countries including Bosnia.

These are my new Doppel Adler Soldaten set 1A Deutsch Infantry (officer and five men).

The fourth and final Doppel Adler Soldaten set that I added to my collection is set 3A Hungarian Infantry. The Hungarians differ from the Deutsch infantry in that they are wearing tight fitting trousers with black and yellow side stripes and with black and yellow knots on the front of their thighs. Unfortunately, Doppel Adler Soldaten never made a Hungarian set 3C with standard bearer, stretcher bearer, and company drummer as shown in post #1149 with the Bosnians, but did make a set 1C Deutsch Infantry which I have on order. DAS also made 1B, 2B, and 3B sets which had six men (no officer) for Deutsch, Bosnian, and Hungarian Infantry, respectively.

I picked up this Nickolson Miniatures set on eBay a few months ago. It is set I-5 the 22nd BOMBAY NATIVE INFANTRY. The box is incorrectly marked as set I-29 the Khyber Rifles. I wonder if Nickolson is still in business since their website is no longer available.

In December, there was a large collection being sold on eBay that included many Bastion Models and Josef Kober glossy sets. I bid on many of them, but won only three Josef Kober 40mm sets. This is Josef Kober set 2504 JAEGERTRUPPEN "TIROLER KAISERJAEGER" IM GEFECHT which includes offizier, fahne, trumpeter und 17 mann. Boy, my college German professor would be proud of me, but I must give credit to Dave D. who kindly sent me a 2012/2013 Kober Zinnfiguren Katalog where I found all this German.

Those sets caught my eye as well, but didn't bid as they don't fit into my rather narrow period of interest (WW1). Glad you picked them up. I did manage to snag the Frontline Austrian sets thus filling a void. Wonder who got all those nice Bastion sets? Would've loved to pick up a few of those. Am now trying to redo some poorly painted. ripoff Bastion AH sailors sold on eBay as the original thing. Fie on the seller!
