From John Jenkins French & Indian War "Plains of Abraham" series are three sets with 12 figures of the British 35th Regiment grenadiers.

This is the sixth and final (as far as I know) Tradition of London Scottish Regiments sets: Set No. 87 HIGHLAND LIGHT INFANTRY. I recently picked it up on eBay. Tradition also has Set No. 35 which has one figure each from the six Scottish Regiments sets.

This is another John Jenkins Designs eight figure introduction set that I purchased from Treefrog Treasures in September. It is Set TMRRBS-01R EIGHT TRIARII STANDING, ROMAN ARMY OF THE MID REPUBLIC. These are just spectacular beyond words, especially the chain mail armor. I am looking forward to adding more Roman Mid Republic sets (e.g., Velities, Princeps, etc) if John makes them in the future.

They look great! I believe that John is going "all in" on the Punic Wars. We have seen sculpts of the Velites and other fighting Republicans. In addition two naval vessels and I think a dozen
or so Carthraginians have been sculpted.
Lets see if John does some elephants as well.
The Gauls can be used as part of Hannibal's army.

The Punic Wars will be a great addition to John's Rome and Its Enemies series. I plan on pre-ordering both naval vessels and the fighting Roman and Carthaginian marines as soon Treefrog puts them up for sale. I wouldn't be surprised to see elephants in the future, too.

This is a recent eBay Russian Civil War pick up from Saint George's Cross of the White Russian ALEKSEEVSKY REGIMENT, 1918 - 1922. Although the set was boxed, the seller did not secure the lid with a rubber band to provide compression and the figures were no longer in their foam rubber cut-outs resulting in the fanion breaking off.

This is another recent eBay pick up of a Trophy of Wales set from the Sudan Wars series. I am not sure what regiment they represent, but they could possibly be one of the guards regiments. I asked the seller to protect the rifles and bayonets with soda straws which they did not do, arguing that they would cause damage to them???? So, they arrived with bent rifles and bayonets. The single photo on the listing hid the fact that one of the figures was missing its bayonet, but that figure was directly behind the officer in the photo so that it could't be seen. Pretty clever, huh?

Buying from E-Bay is a crapshoot. The vast majority of sellers are amateurs who have no idea how to package their wares. I strictly buy books from E-Bay and I can't tell you how many books arrive damaged because of shoddy or just inadequate packaging. There are some good professionals who know what they are doing and package well, but they seem to be in the minority. I have found I have to be very choosy about what I buy and who it comes from. Obviously, this is the same problem with TS and other delicate items. It is aggravating. -- Al

Thanks Mike. I really like the Saint George's Cross World War I and Russian Civil War sets. The RCW flags are neat.

I recently picked up my first Thomas Gunn sets on eBay and from Treefrog. In all, I bought about 40 Romans for Bob W. and me. Here are examples of various Roman Legions with different shields.

The Thomas Gunn Romans also included the Pretorian Guard.

On the 76th anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor, I thought it appropriate to show a recent addition to my Philippine mahogany warbird collection. This is a 1/32 scale Douglas Dauntless SBD dive-bomber as it would have looked during the early months of the war when it still had the star insignia with the red circle. This model has a wing span of 15 1/2 inches and a length of 12 1/2 inches.

There were almost 6,000 Dauntless SBDs produced during World War II. The Dauntless was responsible for sinking the Japamese aircraft carrier Shoho at the Battle of the Coral Sea on May 7, 1942 and sinking the Japanese carriers Akagi, Kaga, and Soryu on June 4, 1942 at the Battle of Midway. They also seriously damaged the carrier Hiryu.

The SBD was powered by a 1,000 horse power Wright R-1820-52 Cyclone, 9-cylinder radial, air-cooled engine. It had a maximum speed of 250 mph, a range of 1,345 miles, and could carry a 1,200 pound bomb load. It was armed with four machine guns.
