Mike Tarantino's Toy Soldier Collection (1 Viewer)

Wow! That was fun to go through most of the posts of your collection. Glad to see someone else with an "eclectic taste"! I usually feel guilty of trying to collect and display so many different brands and periods. Feel better now!:cool::cool:

I am an admitted eclectic collector with no apologies. I collect what I like; I gave up a long time ago trying to stay within some sort of self-imposed bounds. Welcome to the eclectic toy solders collectors club!

I continue to add to my Philippine mahogany World War II warbird collection, even though I have run out of room to display them all. This is a Hawker Hurricane Mk. IIC in 1/32 scale with a 15 inch wingspan and a length of 12 inches.

This variant had a speed of 339 MPH, a range of 460 miles, and a ceiling of 35,600 feet. It was powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin XX, 12-cylinder V, liquid cooled, engine developing 1,280 HP. It was armed with four 20 mm cannons and could carry 1,000 pounds of bombs. A total of 3,400 of Mk. IIC series were produced. There was also a Sea Hurricane version of which about 400 were also built.

Very nice looking figures with an excellent rendition of the '03 Springfield. -- Al

Ted makes excellent "toy soldiers" and I wish he would continue but I guess WB takes up all his time now.
I have hundreds of his Civil War figures which go great with Trophy. Maybe one day he will add to his own line.

I recently picked up on eBay this Bastion Models set A.44 RAF 1918. To my surprise, it is identical to set A.13 which I already have.

This is another World War II Philippine mahogany warbird that I picked up on eBay. It is a Luftwaffe Dornier Do.17Z Flying Pencil twin-engine schnell bomber in 1/32 scale from Toys & Models Corporation. Its wing span is 22 inches and its length is 19 1/2 inches, so it is fairly large. It was powered by two BMW Bramo 323P, 9-cylinder radial, air-cooled engines developing 1,000 hp each. It had a maximum speed of 255 MPH, a ceiling of 26,900 feet, and a range of 720 miles. It had 6/8 machine guns and could carry a 2,200 pound bomb load. At the outbreak of World War II, there were 370 Do.17s in Luftwaffe service. It was withdrawn from front line service towards the end of 1942 and was replaced by the more powerful and efficient Dornier Do.217.

I am in a distinct minority on this forum in that I mainly collect traditional, 54mm glossy toy soldiers. Although I also collect King & Country, John Jenkins, and Thomas Gunn matte figures, the vast majority of my collection remains glossy figures marching. I have 70 plus sets of Bastion Models from Andrew Rose which includes about a dozen sets that I haven't posted here on the forum. So, I thought I better catch up. This is Bastion set A.51 BLACK WATCH, 1915 which I recently acquired.
