STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---former Walt Disney head Michael Eisner tweeted his opinion about THE RISE OF SKYWALKER, “#RiseofSkywalker is an acceptable film, a lot of story and fan delights but somewhat emotionless, while #TheMandolorian on @disneyplus establishes show creator @Jon_Favreau as the new George Lucas which @RobertIger had the foresight to declare."
Eisner tweeted about Daisey Ridley, "Daisy Ridley played Rey throughout the film with one expression: awe/fear until the very end of the film when she reveals her name. That’s what I meant by a film that somewhat lacked emotion.
In my previous comment I didn’t mean to suggest that #DaisyRidley acted poorly. On the contrary, she was excellent. The choice of attitude for Rey was intended and seems to fall on the philosophy of the character.”

Also, film editor Maryann Brandon denied fan claims that the sequel's final scene was recycled from an earlier scene of Rey in the Pasaana desert, “That shot was shot in the desert where they shot the sequence on Pasaana, but it was shot for that shot. It was specifically shot for that and then ILM created a lot of that shot, so that’s a question for Roger Guyett and the artists at ILM, how they created it. I picked the shot of Rey, which I know was shot in the same desert. It wasn’t already in the film, it was for that sequence.”

CASSIAN ANDOR---casting call for child actors for the untitled Disney+ tv series that is a prequel to ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY is:

“Mundo is a thirteen-year old, Hispanic male. The young teen has a head full of brown hair and big, passionate eyes. Needs to have a wide range from still calm to uncontrolled anger.

Mundo is a nine-year old, Hispanic male. A wild and unruly kid with a head full of brown hair and big, passionate eyes. Also needs to have a wide range from still calm to uncontrolled anger.

Cinta is 5-7 year old Hispanic female. Cinta has a head full of brown hair and big eyes. A wild and unruly kid who, what do you know, needs to have a wide range from still calm to uncontrolled anger.”

STAR WARS: REBELS---a rumor claims a new animated series is underway that will be a follow-up to REBELS and will focus on Jedi Ashoka Tano and Sabine Wren as they pursue Ezra Bridger.

RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK---Harry Hamlin claimed he lost the Indiana Jones role to Harrison Ford after he made comments about Steven Spielberg during a secretly-taped cake baking session while auditioning for the role. Hamlin and Stephanie Zimbalist, who was auditioning for the Marion Ravenwood role, were told by Spielberg that George Lucas was late for the audition, so he wanted them to bake a chocolate cake and wait for Lucas. Hamlin said he and Zimbalist, proceeded to bake the cake, not realizing they were being filmed by a hidden camera to see if they had chemistry together.
Hamlin said, “He closed the door and left and we were standing alone in this kitchen. I said, ‘Stephanie, have you ever made a chocolate cake?’ And she said, ‘No…'”
As they began to make the cake in the studio kitchen, Hamlin told Zimbalist that his friend, Amy Irving, who later married Spielberg, had made derogatory comments about Spielberg, “I was talking about how Amy was calling her friend group in LA and saying that this guy, this director guy was stalking her in New York and how she was kind of getting annoyed because this guy, Steven Spielberg, was showing up at the stage door every night with flowers. It never occurred to me … that we were actually in the audition while we were making the cake.”

KNIVES OUT---Rian Johnson confirmed a sequel is underway with Daniel Craig returning as detective Benoit Blanc and a new ensemble cast.

KNIVES-OUT-DANIEL-CRAIG.jpg

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---Dominic Monaghan said he hopes a directors cut edition is released which includes the many deleted scenes, "Like a lot of Star Wars fans, I’m hoping there will be a director’s cut, so we’ll get to see more and more of the stuff that was filmed. I wasn’t there all the time, but even in the short time that I was there, there was so much stuff filmed that didn’t make it to the theatrical version… Oh, man, there was so much stuff!
Another thing that we will hopefully see at some point in the future is that in the final battle, [Kaydel Ko] Connix [played by Billie Lourd] injures her leg. Obviously, myself, Rose and Connix are exiting the battle, and Rose has a weapon. While Rose is busy doing stuff, I grab Connix’s arm and put it over my shoulder to make sure that all of us come back as unscathed as possible.”

JAMES BOND---George Lazenby said the franchise should change with the times because men are not as masculine as they used to be, "Men haven't got the b*lls they had 50 years ago. When I was born my mother had to get permission to speak. And now the men have to. It's a different time. And, well, the movies have to show that."
He added: "You just have to look at the newscasts. 75 per cent of the people are women and before it was ten per cent, so women have taken over. I don't say that as a bad thing, but it's different. And they've got bl**dy squeaky voices."

JAMES-BOND-GEORGE-LAZENBY-FOTOR.jpg

JOKER---Todd Phillips said he wants someone else to develop a Batman in the universe of his JOKER movie, “It’s just a beautiful Gotham, what I would like to see somebody tackle is what Batman looks like from that Gotham. What was interesting to me about the inclusion of Batman in our movie was, what kind of Batman does that Gotham make?”

THE WALKING DEAD---AMC programm9ng head Sarah Barnett said the declining ratings haven't affected the network's expansion plans for the zombie franchise, "I think there are lots of stories to be told from this universe. And I would say about that what I’d say about any of the development at AMC — which is that it has to be creatively exceptional."

EVIL DEAD---Sam Raimi said he wants to reunite with Bruce Campbell for a sequel, "Bruce, Rob [Tapert] and I are working with a young filmmaker who is writing a new EVIL DEAD story that he will direct. As for me…. I would love to direct a new EVIL DEAD movie… but I’d really like to do it with Bruce. And he says he’s retired the character. I hope not.”

THE OFFENDERS---Amazon/BBC six-part miniseries from Stephen Merchant (THE OFFICE) and Elgin James (MAYANS M.C.) about seven strangers in a Bristol, England community payback program.

I saw Knives Out on Saturday. Although only one theatre was showing it in our multi cinema movie house, it was sold out. Impressive. My son said it reminded him of Orient Express and I agree with him.

Walking Dead - I stopped watching it this year. Her comment that they would roll out more shows despite low ratings is illogical. There used to be an active thread here but this year it has very little activity. That indicates the show is moribund.

James Bond - Probably a series that shouldn’t be made anymore.

Star Wars - Director’s Cut? The movie was bad enough but based on ticket sales, which is the only thing Disney cares about — and let’s face it, they’re in business to make money — it will sell. The Mandalorian was better and a lot better.

James Bond? That is blasphemy Brad!!!!!!!! There should always be a Bond, just have to find the next man up so to speak!
Tom

James Bond - Probably a series that shouldn’t be made anymore.

So your opinion is that one of the most famous characters in movie history from the longest running film series (nearly 60 years) which makes a huge amount of money (Skyfall over $1 billion) should not be made anymore.

Bond fans everywhere might disagree. As a kid there were two series of books I read. Bond and Flashman.

Personally I am looking forward to the next Bond actor. Craig has been great but I am hoping for Tom Hardy.

THE WALKING DEAD---showrunner Scott R. Gimple commented on the Rick Grimes movie that is currently being written, “We are going to continue to tell Rick’s story, and we are going to discover so much of the world through that story. Rick will be challenged in different ways that, in some ways, everything that he’s been through has sort of prepared him for. It’s a much larger world than one that he had been operating in, and that was challenging in and of itself. Now things are heightened, and just as we’re going to the movies – and it is the movies proper, suitably widescreen – we’re going to be filling that screen with a brand new world.”
He added, “The scale is bigger and the budget is bigger, and it’s THE WALKING DEAD, but heightened, both in the narrative themes, but also in just what we see onscreen. I say heightened, but I should also say it’s also very different. It’s not going to be the exact same thing we saw on television, just larger. We are going in some wild new directions.
Movies are a different beast than television. Television is like, boom, we’re done. Movies, to calibrate an hour and a half, two hours is no joke, and it’s been a lot of fun, but it’s a real challenge and we take it very seriously for the fans. We really want to deliver them something special, something worth their trip to the movies. We’re trying to be very deliberate and deliver something new.”

THE WALKING DEAD: WORLD BEYOND---Scott M. Gimple commented on the connection between the original series and the latest spinoff, “Technically, [WORLD BEYOND is] a little behind. But not much. Not enough for people to notice. It’s very, very close to being simultaneous, but a little bit back, yes. Not in any way that anyone will possibly notice.”
He added. “We’re going to be discovering this very big aspect to the world that we haven’t yet seen. We’ve seen glimpses of it on the shows with the helicopters and with the soldier that we saw, Isabelle on Fear…In some ways, WORLD BEYOND, it’s a big story and yet it’s sort of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern to Rick’s Hamlet, meaning the show and the movie touch upon some of the same things, but they’re not really that deeply related.”

STAR TREK---Noah Hawley hinted his upcoming movie might not be connected to the JJ Abrams movie franchise or the Alex Kurtzman/CBS All Access tv franchise, “ "To call it STAR TREK IV is kind of a misnomer. I have my own take on STAR TREK, and going back to what I loved about the series NEXT GENERATION, when a lot of franchises focus on ‘might makes right’, STAR TREK is about exploration and humanity at its best, and diversity and creative problem solving. There’s nothing better than that moment when William Shatner puts on his reading glasses and lowers Khan’s shields. It doesn’t cost anything. But it’s that triumphant feeling about smarting your enemy. For me it’s about to getting to those elements of the show. I don’t necessarily find action in and of itself interesting unless it’s story. So, it’s early days, I’m still talking with Paramount and I have a take and I gotta write a script.”
Hawley hinted the movie will have a new cast, "Yeah, I think so. Yeah." When asked if the cast of STAR TREK BEYOND would return, he said, "It's early days. I don't know. But new characters often involve new cast."
Hawley also commented on if he has talked to Kurtzman about if the movie will be connected to the Kurtzman/CBS All Access tv franchise, “I should. I know Alex. There isn’t a mandate from Paramount to connect it. And on some levels, there’s a bit of the wall, the TV version and the film version. I have my own story and want to make sure as I did with FARGO and LEGION that I’m respectful to the underlying material. That I’m not unintentionally changing things that people love or feel passionate about. So, it’s important to do that research as I go.”

WILLOW---Warwick Davis commented on the upcoming Disney+ tv series based on the 1987 Ron Howard movie, “At this stage … the excitement of the fans and the internet, and what have you, has been overwhelming and has actually got a little bit ahead of the reality of things at this stage, which is very flattering. But all the right people are kind of aligned – it’s like the stars have aligned in the heavens for WILLOW.”
He added, “I’d certainly relish the opportunity to play a character that I really enjoyed playing the first time around. I’m a bit older and a bit wiser as an actor now, and the character would also be a bit older and wiser and I think there’s really an interesting story there. What has happened between the time we saw him in WILLOW and now? Has he mastered the art of sorcery? What has happened there?"

WHAT WE DO IN THE SHADOWS---Mark Hamill will gust star in Season 2.

GODMOTHERED---Jillian Bell and Isla Fisher star in this Disney+ comedy movie about a novice fairy godmother who helps a young woman find her Prince Charming.

THE GREAT MACHINE---movie underway based on the Brian K. Vaughn comic book EX MACHINA.

CGI RESURRECTION---Marvel Studios Executive Vice President Victoria Alonso commented on if Marvel will resurrect dead actors using CGI as has been done in STAR WARS movies, "We haven't considered it."

UNSTOPPABLE---Quentin Tarantino commented on why he chose Tony Scott's UNSTOPPABLE as one of his two best movies of the 2010s, “I picked it because I just actually spent the last six weeks going through a whole bunch of movies from the last decade, so I could make my Top 10. I was rewatching a lot of stuff that I liked and watching stuff that I never got around to watching [before] but I thought could be a contender to one degree or another. And so, one of the ones I did rewatch was UNSTOPPABLE.
And when I saw it, it just blew me away so much. Both the combination of just the movie that’s on the screen, the movie that is there, and the idea that it’s one of the last great movies from one of the last great directors of all time, at the height of his powers, doing what he does…It was my #10 of my top 10 of the decade. And frankly, now after watching it again for this [podcast], it should be higher.” Tarantino picked DUNKIRK as his other favorite movie of the 2010s.

JOSH HARTNETT---Harnett commented on reports he turned down the starring role in SPIDER-MAN, BATMAN BEGINS and SUPERMAN RETURNS, “I didn’t turn down SPIDER-MAN. I don’t know where that came from. I’d only turned down SUPERMAN as a straight-up offer. But I was, at that time of my career, where a lot of people were asking me to do those types of movies.
I was having meetings with those directors and people were saying: “Would you be interested?” I talked to them about what they were doing and I ultimately decided I wasn’t, but that was a very privileged place for a young man to be in. I’m a little bit outside of the box and had the leverage to do that, and that’s the direction I chose.
BATMAN wasn’t an audition or an offer. It was a conversation with the director [Christopher Nolan]. I think there’s a lot of misinformation out there. When you say one thing one time about it, and now it gets blown up. But I don’t really care to tell that story over and over again.”

DREAMWORKS ANIMATION---three DreamWorks Animation tv reboots, Mr. MAGOO, LASSIE and GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE will premiere on CBS All Access.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
James Bond movie producer Cubby Broccoli had just seen Eric Braeden star in the sci fi movie COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT and wanted Braeden to replace the departed Sean Connery in the upcoming LIVE AND LET DIE. Braeden said, "Sean Connery had quit the franchise and they were getting ready to do LIVE AND LET DIE. The producer Cubby Broccoli took me to lunch to talk about my playing James Bond. It was a nice lunch, but he asked if I had a British passport. I said, “No, I have a German passport.” An hour later, my agent was calling to give me Broccoli’s verdict: No one who was not a member of the British Commonwealth would ever play James Bond."' Instead, Roger Moore became Connery's successor.

Eric Braeden starred in COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT which led to him being a candidate to replace Sean Connery in LIVE AND LET DIE.

STAR TREK---CBS All Access head of original content Julie McNamara commented on a possible spinoff series after a fan petition called for a new series featuring Capt. Christopher Pike and Spock leading the starship Enterprise, “We’ve definitely heard fans that people are excited about the notion of that. We have heard them loud and clear. We also thought there was incredible chemistry around that bridge crew so among many things that we talk about, that idea is certainly one of them.”
Alex Kurtzman recently said, "There are two more live-action shows that haven’t been announced yet."

THE WALKING DEAD---Scott M. Gimple commented on expanding the zombie franchise beyond the current three tv shows and the Rick Grimes movie, “We’re working on a big push of something I was working on originally and then I got much more focused on the shows in my first year on this job and developing World Beyond and getting the movie going. We really do want to come out with different TV formats, meaning shorter things, and then some event series, limited event series.
I’m trying to get together a number of different things that we can show at different times during the year, and this focuses on characters we miss and we lost. It focuses on aspects of that new mythology. It focuses on stories that occur in our universe and have nothing to do with anything."

PARASITE---Bong Joon-Ho commented on the HBO miniseries based on his movie, “With PARASITE, while I was writing the script I had so many more ideas I couldn’t convey into the two-hour running time of the film. I knew that if I had a longer running time, I would be able to tell these stories, and I that’s what I plan to talk about with Adam [McKay] pretty soon. Though I’m not very familiar with the TV industry, I really consider this limited series an expanded film that can delve deeper into the stories that didn’t make it into PARASITE."

STAR WARS IX---darkhorizons.com gave a summary of the leaked script for the cancelled STAR WARS: DUEL OF THE FATES which was written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. It was replaced by STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER. The Playlist said the leaked script was confirmed to be genuine by multiple sources. The script is dated December 16, 2016 which is before Carrie Fisher's death which explains why Leia has a more prominent role than in THE RISE OF SKYWALKER.

'"The film’s original title is “Star Wars: Duel Of The Fates” and it begins with The First Order having cut off all communication between planets to suppress a rising rebellion inspired by Luke’s stand at the Battle of Crait. The Resistance’s mission is to re-open communication and call the galaxy to war.

The opening sequence of the film is set at the Kuat Shipyards and sees Finn, Rose, and BB8 steal a Star Destroyer full of old Imperial weapons and vehicles. During this heist Finn sees a fallen Stormtrooper without his helmet on and recognizes him. As a result, his internal conflict when it comes to killing his former brothers and sisters in arms is reignited.

Kylo Ren is missing as far as now Chancellor Hux is aware, but a now stubbled Kylo is on Mustafar and haunted by Luke’s force ghost. In Vader’s Temple, Kylo finds a hologram recording of Palpatine with a message for Vader – If Luke kills Palpatine, Vader is to take Luke to the Remnicore System to see Palpatine’s teacher Tor Valum.

The Holocron detects Kylo isn’t Vader and explodes in red lighting, burning him in the process – Leia force senses it just as the Kuat team return with their stolen Star Destroyer. Rey is still having nightmares involving her connection to Kylo, but in her researching Luke’s old Jedi texts she learns of a ‘Force Beacon’ – a hidden communication system from the Old Republic that can send a signal to 50 planets and call them to war – a signal the First Order can’t stop. The problem? Said system is under the Jedi Temple on a now enemy-occupied Coruscant.

Force ghost Luke appears as Rey trains, pushing her to get stronger, while Kylo makes it back to Coruscant and confronts Hux before heading off again after picking up and then throwing Vader’s mask off a balcony – his devotion to the man shattered. He confronts the 7000-year-old Tor Valum and begins training with him.

The Resistance splits into two missions. The first has Rey, Poe and Chewbacca going to the planet Bonadan to find guidance for Rey. The second team is Rose, Finn, R2 and 3PO who set out to activate the force beacon.

The first team, pursued by the Knights of Ren, reach Bonadan where a Seer manages to extract a star chart out of Rey’s mind from her visions with Kylo. The Knights of Ren show up and fight Rey in a lightsaber battle.

The second team succeed at igniting the beacon, but the First Order soon cut it off and force them to flee into Coruscant’s underbelly. The pair are captured and sent to a POW camp where Rose is interrogated by Hux. Eventually, they escape with Finn having recruited defecting Stormtroopers to fight back.

Rey and Kylo eventually get to Mortis and battle when it’s ultimately revealed Kylo killed Rey’s parents at the behest of Snoke. Towards the end attempts are made to save Ben, but are unsuccessful and he is ‘extinguished’.

Leia brings her forces to Coruscant to battle the First Order with fighting in space and on the ground. Chewie flies an X-Wing at one point. The film ends with Finn and Rose taking all the Force-sensitive youth to a remote planet so Rey can train the next generation of Jedi including ‘Broom Boy’.

The other month came reports that Leia’s servant was Rey’s mother in this version of the script, that was immediately debunked as they were from Jack Thorne’s version of the script. Trevorrow exited the project one month after Thorne was hired to rewrite Trevorrow and Connolly’s script."'

GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE---Paul Feig commented on his all-female reboot movie might have a crossover with the AFTERLIFE characters in a future sequel, “I hope. What’s so great, in the comic book world, they’ve done a lot of crossover ones where there’s like an interdimensional rip and our team joins up with the original Ghostbusters. So the fact that that’s already been laid and made comic book canon, anything could happen so who knows.
I would love to see that team come back. We had so much fun making that movie, for whatever controversy it caused. The fact that so many kids love that, that we won the Nickelodeon Best Movie of the Year Award that year makes me very happy.”

Netflix stated, “David [Fincher] is focused on directing his first Netflix film MANK and on producing the second season of LOVE, DEATH AND ROBOTS. He may revisit MINDHUNTER again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.”

THE DARK TOWER---Amazon Studios cancelled the proposed tv series based on the Stephen King novels after it said the pilot was, “not on the level of other large-scope elevated genre series.”

STAR WARS---Lucasfilm is in talks with Taika Waititi (THE MANDALORIAN, THOR: RAGNAROK) about directing a STAR WARS movie. It is not known if it is a theatrical movie or a Disney+ project. Earlier, he was asked if he would like to direct a STAR WARS movie, “Oh, I don’t know anything about that. But MANDALORIAN was my chance to work with some Stormtroopers. Obviously I would, but I’m going to just settle for IG-11 being the hero of the entire season."

BOUNTY LAW---Quentin Tarantino will write and direct this five-part tv series based on the fictional tv Western about bounty hunter Jake Cahill from ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. Tarantino said, “It got an introduction from ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, but I don’t really consider it part of that movie even though it is. This is not about Rick Dalton playing Jake Cahill. It’s about Jake Cahill. Where all this came from was, I ended up watching a bunch of WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE, and THE RIFLEMAN and TALES OF WELLS FARGO, these half-hour shows to get in the mindset of BOUNTY LAW, the kind of show Rick was on. I’d liked them before, but I got really into them. The concept of telling a dramatic story in half an hour. You watch and think, wow, there’s a helluva lot of storytelling going on in 22 minutes. I thought, I wonder if I can do that?”
It was not disclosed if Leonardo DiCaprio or Brad Pitt will be involved in the tv series.

THE SIMPSONS---Hank Azaria announced he will no longer provide the voice for Apu, “All we know there is I won’t be doing the voice anymore, unless there’s some way to transition it or something… What they’re going to do with the character is their call. It’s up to them and they haven’t sorted it out yet. All we’ve agreed on is I won’t do the voice anymore. We all made the decision together. We all agreed on it. We all feel like it’s the right thing and good about it.” A controversy arose after the documentary, THE PROBLEM WITH APU, claimed Apu perpetuates South Asian stereotypes.

Bounty Law has my interest.

Good to see Brolin was not really eating rattlesnake.

The Confederate looked interesting but been cancelled.

i see Mad Max Fury Road been chosen as movie of the century by Empire magazine.

Is Bond producer just teasing with talk of a non white, but still male, Bond or are they getting close to choosing Idris Elba ?
