HOUSE OF THE DRAGON---Graham McTavish (OUTLANDER) confirmed he is part of the GAME OF THRONES prequel cast after he was seen on the film set, "I’m enjoying that, yes. I’m really having a lot of fun. We’ve just started. It’s a very big project, so we’re getting to know each other. They’re lovely people. It’s great, but I can’t tell you too much. I can’t tell you really anything about the story! But it involves a lot dragons."
THE HUNGER---Warner Bros. remake underway of the 1983 Tony Scott vampire movie that starred Catherine Deneuve, Susan Sarandon and David Bowie and was based on the Whitley Strieber novel.
THE BRIDE---Nathalie Emmanuel (GAME OF THRONES) and Garrett Hedlund (TRON: LEGACY) will star in this Screen Gems vampire movie inspired by Bram Stoker's DRACULA.
UPRISING---Netflix movie underway based on the novel A PEOPLE'S HISTORY OF THE VAMPIRE RISING in which CIA agent Lauren Webb investigates a global vampire plague.
ATTACK THE BLOCK 2---John Boyega and writer/director Joe Cornish are reuniting for the sequel to the 2011 alien invasion movie.
JJ ABRAMS---JJ Abrams is known for reviving franchises (STAR WARS, STAR TREK, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE), but now he wants to do an original movie, “I know that Hollywood is a place where it used to be that people would be inspired by something that they would see or an old film or a show or something and think, ‘Oh, here’s my response to that. Here’s a version of that’. Its become a place where, more often than not, you see something and people get inspired by it and go, ‘Let’s redo that exact thing.’
I feel like, as someone who started writing in television and telling original stories on film and in TV, it is something that I really do miss. The few things that I’m working on now, as a writer, are original ideas. I just feel, as a director, I really would love to have my next projects be things that didn’t pre-exist me necessarily.”
TRIVIA---In FIRST BLOOD, Kirk Douglas was hired to play Colonel Sam Trautman, John Rambo's former commanding officer in Vietnam. After several weeks of production, Douglas quit the movie because he wanted Rambo to die in the ending. Richard Crenna was then hastily hired as his replacement, which became Crenna's most famous role.
Ironically, Kirk's son, Michael Douglas, had already turned down the offer to play John Rambo. Sylvester Stallone took the role which, with Rocky Balboa, became one of his most famous roles.
