NIGHTWING---director Chis McKay commented on the status of the Dick Grayson superhero movie, "I hope it’s still a reality. I hope that we still get to make that movie. As far as I’m concerned, it’s not lost yet. It is obviously something that… they’ve had other priorities, they’ve had other challenges. They’d had things that they needed to do, and I think that they found their way.
I think their recent successes, and the stuff that they are planning on doing now, I think it opens the door for us to still be able to do a NIGHTWING movie. But NIGHTWING is a big, action-packed, emotional movie. It may not, budgetarily, be similar to what we do with THE TOMORROW WAR. But from a scope and scale standpoint, as far as the kind of action and the kind of heart, that’s what NIGHTWING is going to be all about.”

UNDER THE BANNER OF HEAVEN---Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones will star in this FX miniseries based on the novel about a devout detective investigating a brutal murder involving a prominent Mormon family.

THE WINCHESTERS---Jensen Ackles and the CW are developing a SUPERNATURAL prequel series about the early days of his character's parents, John and Mary Winchester. Ackles will also be the narrator. Jared Padlecki expressed disappointment that he was never informed about the prequel, “Dude. Happy for you. Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter. I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever.” Padlecki added, “This is the first I’ve heard about it. I’m gutted.”

SMALLVILLE--Tom Welling and Michael Rosenbaum said they are developing an animated tv series based on SMALLVILLE and hope to bring back most of the original cast.

POLLY POCKET--Lily Collins will star in this live-action movie based on the Mattel toy line. Lena Dunham is the writer/director.

TRIVIA---in PATTON, Siegfried Rauch played German Captain Oskar Steiger, who profiled General George s. Patton for the German high command. Ironically, Rod Steiger was offered the starring role and turned it down. Steiger said it was his "dumbest career move" and added, After I won the Oscar for IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT, I had my choice of parts. They really came after me to play Patton. I knew it was a great role, but I am totally opposed to war and the military. So I told them there was no way I was going to play General Patton. If I had played Patton one-half as well as George [George C. Scott] did, I might have won a second Oscar. Then who knows what would have happened?"

BOBA FETT---LEGO fansite Brickfanatics said that Walt Disney has changed the name of Boba Fett's spaceship from Slave 1 to Boba Fett's Starship starting with a new LEGO toy, “One of the new LEGO Star Wars sets revealed at LEGO CON is named a little differently than it has been in the past, with Disney helming the name change. LEGO Star Wars 75312 Boba Fett’s Starship might not carry the name that builders have recognized since its introduction in The Empire Strikes Back, ditching the Slave I moniker for a more generic title.”
LEGO designer Jens Kronvold Frederiksen said, "It's probably not something which has been announced publicly but it is just something that Disney doesn't want to use anymore."

DEVOLUTION---movie underway based on the Max Brooks novel about a pack of deadly Sasquatches in Washington state. James Ashcroft is the director.

FRASIER---Kelsey Grammer commented on the Paramount+ revival series, “We think we’re going to get most of the actors back, I’m certainly hopeful that we will, and I’m fairly confident that they’ll come back... We have a story to tell — that can actually be told with or without them, honestly — but I want them back because that’s what I always dreamed of. I thought we should explore all their lives in their third act, and so that is my hope.” Grammer thinks the series will premiere in early 2022.

HAVOC---Timothy Olyphant will co-star with Tom Hardy and Forest Whitaker ibn this Netflix movie about a detective who tries to rescue a politician's estranged son and encounters vast political corruption.

PUSSY ISLAND---Naomi Ackie will co-star with Channing Tatum in this movie about a waitress who gets a date with a tech billionaire on his private island and discovers there is something else going on.

BATWOMAN---Dougray Scott and Wallis Day are not returning after their characters have been written out of the series.

When Tom Jones recorded the theme to THUNDERBALL in 1965, he reportedly fainted while singing the theme's final, high note. In a 2011 interview, Jones commented on fainting, “The most memorable thing about the session was hitting that note at the end. John told me to hold on to this very high note for as long as possible. I'm definitely doing ROGUE SQUADRON next and I'm excited to do WONDER WOMAN 3. The Michael Stackpole books and the video games and all of the ROGUE SQUADRON books, there's an incredible history that's really important to honor. And yet, it must be brought to a new age, because we have to tell a new story with it and so you're trying to blend the best of everything and make it the great fighter-pilot movie, which I've always wanted to make, as well. It's a big brew of things that you're trying to put together and still try to keep a simple story."

ALIEN---Noah Hawley commented on the FX tv series based on the ALIEN movies, "It's not a Ripley story. She's one of the great characters of all time, and I think the story has been told pretty perfectly, and I don't want to mess with it. It's a story that's set on Earth also. The alien stories are always trapped… Trapped in a prison, trapped in a space ship. I thought it would be interesting to open it up a little bit so that the stakes of "What happens if you can't contain it?" are more immediate."
He added, “It is the story of the people you send to do the dirty work. In mine, you’re also going to see the people who are sending them. So you will see what happens when the inequality we’re struggling with now isn’t resolved. If we as a society can’t figure out how to prop each other up and spread the wealth, then what’s going to happen to us? OB-WAN KENOBI---a rumor about the Disney+ miniseries claims, "Obi-Wan will fight at least one inquisitor. Lightsabers will clash and we will see Kenobi up against The Inquisitorius in at least an episode of the limited series."
Also, Jimmy Smits commented on if he might return as Bail Organa, "Now that it’s been Disneyfied, there’s possibilities of that universe continuing. Who knows?"

LENINGRAD--Michael Hirst (VIKINGS) is developing a miniseries based on the World War II book about the German siege of Leningrad, “Because the authentic voice of the people is crucial to telling the true story, one of the great resources are the diaries kept by so many people, specifically women, in the city. The majority of our main characters are women, not only because they are often overlooked or even ignored in historical accounts, but also because while many of Leningrad’s men went to war and died in battle, the women remained. I think it’s entirely right to tell the story of the Siege through the female experience.“

FAST & FURIOUS---Vin Disel said a spinoff movie about Cipher (Charlize Theron) is being developed.

THE OLD GUARD---Charlize Theron said a sequel script for the Netflix movie has been written.

FARGO---showrunner Noah Hawley commented on if there will be a Season 5, "Yeah, I think so. I don’t have it yet. I have pieces that will have to survive. They’re not connected. I think it would be good to create an ending, and deliberately come to something, knowing it’s the last one and see how one might wrap up this anthology."

MANIFEST---creator Jeff Rake said he hopes to develop tv movie which would be a series finale, “It could be a year, and full disclosure, it may never happen! But I’m not going to stop trying.”

TRIVIA--for July 4, Independence Day.
Ethan Hawke said he was on a road trip in Texas and had been offered the starring role of Captain Steven Hiller in INDEPENDENCE DAY. Hawke said he was reading the script and saw the line, "'E.T., phone home', that's stupid...I literally throw it out the [window]...onto the Texas highway." The role then went to Will Smith.
A year later, Hawke's girlfriend, a student at the University of Texas, wanted to see INDEPENDENCE DAY. They went into the jam-packed theater, and when Will Smith said "E.T., phone home.", the audience stood up and cheered. Hawke said turning down INDEPENDENCE DAY was the biggest mistake of his career.

TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY---James Cameron said he was high on ecstasy when he came up with the idea of including ten year-old John Connor in the sequel, "I remember sitting there once, high on E, writing notes for Terminator, and I was struck by Sting's song, that 'I hope the Russians love their children too.' And I thought, 'You know what? The idea of a nuclear war is just so antithetical to life itself.' That's where the kid came from."

SHELTER---Lisa Vidal and Cam Gigandet will star in this movie about a secret organization that hires a team to steal artwork from a neo-Nazi billionaire that was stolen by the Nazis in World War II.

THE SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE---synopsis and photo released from the Syfy remake of the 1982 slasher movie, “A new contemporary twist-filled reimagining of the 1982 slasher cult classic just in time for Halloween. A slumber party turns into a bloodbath, as a psychotic serial killer wielding a power drill disrupts the fun.”

JAMES GUNN---Warner Bros. producer Peter Safran said the studio hired James Gunn quickly after Walt Disney fired him over his controversial tweets, "So he got fired on a Friday in July, and on Tuesday Toby [Emmerich] came to me and said, 'Tell James Gunn that whatever he wants to do at Warner Bros., we want him for it. Just tell us what he wants to do.' So it was two [working] days later. So internal discussions were incredibly easy. It just felt like James did not merit the treatment that he got, and ultimately, Disney felt the same way and reversed their decision. But it was immediate... It was a really tough time, so it wasn't like he just wanted to jump back into something. So it took a little while to figure out what he wanted to do."
