DUNE: PART TWO---Denis Villeneuve commented on PART TWO, “[DUNE: PART TWO's release date] fantastic news, but it’s also kind of a burden. The good news is that a lot of the work has been done already regarding design, casting, locations and writing. So we’re not starting from scratch.
It’s not a long period of time, but I will try to face that challenge because it’s important for me that the audience sees PART TWO as soon as possible. It’s not a sequel where it’s another episode or another story with the same characters. It actually has direct continuity to the first movie. It’s the second part of the big, huge movie that I’m trying to do. So the sooner the better.”
Villeneuve said PART TWO's theater-only release was “non-negotiable condition” and added, “I love streaming. I use streaming all the time. But I still think that contemporary movies need to have their chance. All movies need to have proper time in theaters. The theatrical experience is at the very heart of the cinematic language for me.”

REBEL MOON---Zack Snyder's next movie is based on his rejected STAR WARS proposal. REBEL MOON focuses on a young woman who enlists warriors from other planets to help protect her home colony from the evil tyrant Balisarius, “Frankly what I’m really interested in with REBEL MOON is creating a romantic sci-fi film on a scale that is, frankly, as big as you can make a movie. I’ve never done a science-fiction film at this scale. The beginning of MAN OF STEEL on Krypton has pretty big sci-fi elements, but it’s still Krypton and there are certain iconographic things that you have to do. And that’s kind of what we’re doing in REBEL MOON, but on the biggest steroids I can give it… [its] a culmination of my love of mythology and my love of giant movies and action and really just epic cinema.”

MIND FALL---Daisy Ridley will star in this sci fi movie set in futuristic London where a female investigator is tracking down illegal technology that transplants memories from one person to another and is framed for the murder of her client.

ONLY MURDERS---Hulu head Craig Erwich said the Steve Martin comedy series is, “the most-watched comedy ever on Hulu, by a good measure”. It has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%.

RED ONE---Jake Kasdan will reunite with his JUMANJI star, Dwayne Johnson, to direct this Christmas comedy movie.

OH HELL NO---Ice Cube has left the Jack Black comedy movie because he refused to get a coronavirus vaccination. His salary was $9 million.

WALKER, TEXAS RANGER---co-star Lindsey Morgan has left the series for personal reasons.

Rock star Alice Cooper wrote the theme song for THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN, but he submitted it too late to producers Cubby Broccoli and Harry Saltzman, who already had chosen John Barry's theme sung by Lulu. Cooper included the rejected song on the album MUSCLE OF LOVE.
Cooper said, “It actually came in a day too late. By the time [the producers] heard it, they’d already signed for Lulu's song. I went, 'You’re gonna take Lulu over this?' ’Cause it was perfect for THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. It had helicopters, it had machine guns — it had the Pointers Sisters, Ronnie Spector and Liza Minnelli doing background vocals! We went to every single one of those John Barry albums to try and invent the perfect James Bond song, and even Christopher Lee, who played Scaramanga in the movie, said, 'Oh, man, why did we take the Lulu song? This song is the one!' [Laughs.] So, yeah, we lost out on that one, but I still put it on the album. I said, 'I don't care, I'm going to do a James Bond track no matter what."'

OPPENHEIMER---Robert Downey, Jr. and Matt Damon will co-star in undisclosed roles in the Christopher Nolan biomovie about J. Robert Oppenheimer based on the book THE TRIUMPH AND TRAGEDY OF J. ROBERT OPPENHEIMER. Cillian Murphy will play Oppenheimer and Emily Blunt will play his wife, Katherine.

DOCTOR WHO---the BBC will give up creative control of the series beginning with Season 14 to Bad Wolf, a production company headed by two producers who were with DOCTOR WHO in its 2005 relaunch. BAD WOLF will reportedly be acquired by Sony in the near future. The BBC will retain sales and marketing rights. A source said, "It's extraordinary that BBC Studios has just rolled over."

MARTIN---the director's cut of George A. Romero's 1977 vampire movie has been found according to the movie's director of photography, Michael Gornick. The director's cut is 210 minutes long and is “always Romero’s preferred version”. Gornick added the director's cut, “may it soon return safely to the custody of Richard Rubinstein and Braddock Associates for digital revitalization and distribution to the world.”

LAW & ORDER---Jeffrey Donovan will play a NYPD detective in the revival series.

BOONDOCK SAINTS III---Norman Reedus, Sean Patrick Flannery and director Troy Duffy are returning for the sequel. Duffy said, "We left them in jail at the end of BOONDOCK 2 and fans want to know what happened to them. Norman and Sean have been a driving force to keep this franchise on track and break some new ground story-wise. The fans have been waiting. They literally ask about it daily, and I am really excited to be working with Impossible Dream to make BOONDOCK III a reality.”

THE BOOGEYMAN---Hulu horror movie underway based on the Stephen King short story.

CELLO---Jeremy Irons and Tobin Bell star in this English/Arabic-language horror movie about an aspiring cellist whose new cello comes with insidious strings attached.

GARFIELD---Chris Pratt will provide the voice for the cartoon cat in an upcoming animated movie.

TRIVIA---in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, the "Eyelids Girl" is the female student in Indiana Jones' Archaeology 101 class who wrote "LOVE YOU" on her eyelids. Steven Spielberg said, "David Tomblin (assistant director) came over to me the morning we shot the classroom scene and said, 'I had an idea last night. Why don't you have one of the girls write LOVE YOU on her lids and when she closes her eyes, Indy sees the words? I loved it. That was such a juicy idea. So we changed the camera position, and picked a girl who had nice big lids!"

HYPERION---Bradley Cooper is developing a movie based on the sci fi novels that was originally intended to be a tv miniseries. Tom Spezialy (WATCHMEN) is the writer.

TOWER OF POWER---Taiki Waititi will direct the Walt Disney movie based on the amusement park ride starring Scarlett Johansson.

REBEL MOON---Sofia Boutella will star in the Zack Snyder/Netflix movie that was originally his proposed STAR WARS movie that was rejected.

APOLLO 13---Tom Hanks, who played astronaut Jim Lovell in APOLLO 13, said Jeff Bezos offered him a ride in his Blue Origins New Shepard spaceship, but Hanks said the price was too high, "...I ain't paying $28 million bucks to go to space. It's a twelve-minute flight!" Instead, Bezos got STAR TREK star William Shatner to take the trip into space on October 13.

THE SOPRANOS---creator David Chase confirmed that Tony Soprano was killed in the controversial series finale, “I had a scene in which Tony comes back from a meeting in New York in his car. At the beginning of every show, he came from New York into New Jersey, and the last scene could be him coming from New Jersey back into New York for a meeting at which he was going to be killed. But I think I had this notion – I was driving on Ocean Park Boulevard near the airport and I saw a little restaurant. It was kind of like a shack that served breakfast, and for some reason I thought, ‘Tony should get it in a place like that.’ Why? I don’t know. That was, like, two years before.”
Chase said he was bothered that fans were unhappy they did not see Tony Soprano killed, “They wanted to know that Tony was killed. They wanted to see him go face-down in linguini, you know? And I just thought, ‘God, you watched this guy for seven years and I know he’s a criminal. But don’t tell me you don’t love him in some way, don’t tell me you’re not on his side in some way. And now you want to see him killed? You want justice done? You’re a criminal after watching this ***** for seven years.’ That bothered me, yeah.”

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER---Matt Smith (DOCTOR WHO) commented on his rumored role in the sequel, “We were close to me being in it, but then it just never quite happened. I think the thing they were thinking of me for, eventually the part became obsolete and they didn’t need it, and so I never got to be in STAR WARS."
He also commented on if his role was Palatine's son, "I could not possibly say, but it was a pretty groovy thing...it was a big story detail, like a, you know, transformative Star Wars story detail but it never quite got over the line...It was a big shift in the history of the franchise...There was no costume (test) there were a couple of meetings to talk about it...Maybe I can come back, you never know.”

GANTZ---Sony Pictures movie underway based on the manga. Julius Avery (OVERLORD) is the director.

HEELS---Starz renewed the series for season 2.

TRIVIA---in Gene Roddenberry's STAR TREK, character actor William Campbell and his friend, James Doohan (Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott), appeared in two episodes. Campbell played Klingon Koloth in "The Trouble With Tribbles", and he played Trelane in "The Squire Of Gothos". The trio reunited in Roger Vadim's dark comedy movie PRETTY MAIDS ALL IN A ROW. Roddenbery wrote the script about a serial killer killing pretty girls at a California high school, and Campbell and Doohan played cops helping state police Capt. Sam Surcher (Telly Savalas) apprehend the killer.

STAR TREK---Paramount Pictures head Brian Robbins said he and Alex Kurtzman will develop an animated STAR TREK movie for family audiences, “SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE is still one of the best movies over the past decade, animated or not. It’s just an unbelievable piece of artistry. I went with my whole family and another family and we all sat there with our jaws on the floor. Ultimately, STAR TREK is about family, it’s about these giant universal themes. Getting to tell a story like that, especially given the level of cinema we’ve already brought to the television show, is a wonderful opportunity. It would thrill me to do that.”

SNOW WHITE---Gal Gadot will play the Evil Queen in the Walt Disney live-action remake of its classic animated movie.

THE INCAL---Taiki Waititi will direct the movie based on the graphic novel.

GRISELDA---Sofia Vergra will star in this Netflix miniseries about drug lord Griselda Blanco. Vergara said, “Griselda Blanco was a larger-than-life character whose ruthless but ingenious tactics allowed her to rule a billion-dollar empire years before many of the most notorious male kingpins we know so much about."

MIRACLE WORKERS---TBS renewed the series for Season 4.

TRIVIA---Kenneth Tobey co-starred in two classic sci fi movies about a monster frozen in the Arctic that thawed out and threatened mankind and a C-47 cargo plane played a major part. In the original THE THING, Tobey played Capt. Pat Hendry, the C-47 pilot who led a team of airman and scientists as they are stalked by a frozen, blood-sucking alien, who thawed out after its flying saucer crashed in the Arctic ice. In Ray Harryhausen's classic THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS, Tobey played Col. Jack Evans, a member of a test team in which a C-47 dropped an atomic bomb and accidentally thawed out a prehistoric Rhedosaurus which had been frozen in the Arctic for millions of years and then threatened to destroy New York.

In THE THING, Kenneth Tobey played C-47 pilot capt. Pat Hendry, who led the effort to stop the thawed-out blood-sucking alien (James Arness). Hendry and a team of airmen and scientist depart their C-47 to search for the flying saucer that crashed in the Arctic.

BOYS OF SUMMER---Mel Gibson and Mason Thames will star in this fantasy movie about a boy and an old detective who pursue a retired witch who is preying on children on Martha's Vineyard.

ETERNALS---the Marvel Studios movie has an initial Rotten Tomatoes score of 54% which is the lowest ever for a Marvel movie. ETERNALS has been banned in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman due to sex and same-sex kissing scenes. The movie will be shown in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates with the sex scenes deleted.

DOCTOR WHO---T'Nia Miller (THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR) commented on rumors she will replace Jodie Whitaker as the next Doctor Who, "I might be [interested], I very much might be. I mean, Russell T. Davies, and I've got to give Russell a call actually, Russell's come back, hasn't he? And if Russell said to me, 'T'Nia, come and do one line,' I'd be like, 'Alright Russell,' so... Wouldn't that be fun? To be the Doctor? It would be fun."

DIG---Thomas Jane and Emile Hirsch star in this movie about a father-and-daughter team who are hired to demolish a house and are taken hostage by a couple who want something buried under the house.

WICKED---Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will star in the movie version of the Broadway musical.

FANTASY ISLAND--Fox renewed the reboot series for Season 2.

RAMBO--Millennium Media head Jeffrey Greenstein said the company might develop tv shows based on movie franchises RAMBO, THE EXPENDABLES and FALLEN.

THE MAN IN FULL---Netflix miniseries underway based on the Tom Wolfe novel. Regina King will direct some of the episodes.

PERRY MASON---Katherine Waterston will play school teacher Ginny Aimes in Season 2.

FIFTH BEATLE---documentary underway about Billy Preston.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
David Bowie turned down the Bond Villain role of Max Zorin in A VIEW TO A KILL, Roger Moore's last 007 movie, and Christopher Walken then accepted it. Several reasons have emerged as to why Bowie chose not to appear in the movie.
One version is that Bowie had a schedule problem with the fantasy movie LABYRINTH.
A second reason was that Bowie supposedly said, “I didn’t want to spend five months watching my stunt double fall off cliffs.”
A third reason was that Bowie chose to live in Switzerland because he wanted to escape taxes and his international fame; to “escape tax and drug dealers, he didn’t know anybody there", but his neighbor turned out to be Roger Moore.
According to writer Dylan Jones, who claimed he heard it from writer Hanif Kureishi, who claimed he heard it from Bowie himself, Bowie's chalet was near Moore's home, and Moore frequently dropped by for all-night drinking sessions in which Moore always talked about his experiences of playing James Bond, “Roger Moore comes in, and they had a cup of tea. He stays for drinks, and then dinner, and tells lots of stories about the James Bond films...After two weeks [of Moore turning up] at 5.25 pm – literally every day – David Bowie could be found underneath the kitchen table pretending not to be in.” So, supposedly, Bowie chose not to co-star in A VIEW TO A KILL because he wanted no more of Moore.

JOHN WICK CHAPTER 4---the title of the fourth movie is reportedly JOHN WICK CHAPTER 4: HAGAKURE. Hagakure is the Book of the Samurai, the spiritual and practical guide for Japanese warriors.

MIDNIGHT RUN---Regina Hall (SCARY MOVIE) will star in the sequel to the 1988 comedy movie that starred Robert De Niro and Charles Grodin. De Niro is the co-producer, but it is not known if he will return as an actor.

STUDIO 666---the Foo Fighters and Will Forte star in this comedy horror movie in which the Foo Fighters record their new album in a haunted mansion.

DEMI WAND---Demi Lovato has released the Demi Wand, a 5 1/2" vibrator that sells for $79. Bellesa Boutique sells the vibrator and says, "We joined forces to launch the Demi Wand, advocating for sexual wellness and pleasure for people of all genders. Demi Lovato is the most influential person to ever launch a signature pleasure product, marking a monumental breakthrough in bridging sex tech with the mainstream."
Lovato is not the first celebrity to release a vibrator: on Valentine's Day, Gwyneth Paltrow released her Goop vibrators.

ANNE BOLEYN---Jodie Turner-Smith will star in this AMC+ three-part miniseries whose synopsis says, “The drama explores the final months of Anne Boleyn’s life from the eponymous Queen’s perspective, as she struggles to secure a future for her daughter and to challenge the powerful patriarchy closing in around her,” reads the synopsis. “Anne Boleyn depicts the key moments that cause Anne to topple, unpicking her immense strength, her fatal vulnerabilities and her determination to be an equal among men.”

STAR TREK: PRODIGY---Paramount+ renewed the series for Season 2.

TRIVIA---Ray Liotta received a fake horse's head, similar to the scene in THE GODFATHER, from Frank Sinatra's daughters, Nancy and Tina, after he declined to play their father in their planned miniseries. and decided to play Sinatra in the HBO movie THE RAT PACK. Liotta said, ''The daughters, they wanted me to do a miniseries when they were doing a miniseries about it and I just felt too uncomfortable. We were doing [THE RAT PACK] and I got delivered a horse’s head. Obviously, it wasn’t a real one, but it was a horse’s head. And, you know, a horse’s head means you’re toast. It turned out that his daughters sent it and said, ‘Oh, you could do this one, but you couldn’t do the one that we wanted you to?’"

SEXIEST MAN ALIVE---Paul Rudd commented on being PEOPLE magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" for 2021 with previous winners George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Michael B. Jordan, "I'm hoping now that I'll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan. And I figure I'll be on a lot more yachts. FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS---producer Brian Grazer commented on a movie/tv reboot, “We’re working on another FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS movie in Del Rio, Texas on a border town that takes place in 2015 and hope to be making that the beginning of next year… [the film] will lead us into a new series that takes place in a more recent time…like now, today, and we’re excited about it.”

THE WITCHER---Henry Cavill commented on Season 2, "This season, I really wanted to make sure that we represented the book’s Geralt more accurately, and that we saw him speak more. I pushed really, really hard for that. I wouldn’t say cheery. He’s still Geralt of Rivia, but he’s definitely coming across as more of an intellectual. It’s a hard life, monster hunting... I wouldn’t recommend it."
Sources claim reports of Cavill's Season 2 salary being $400,000 per episode are incorrect, and he is really making $1 million per episode.

Ed Kemmerer played the flight engineer in the classic THE TWILIGHT ZONE episode "Nightmare At 20,000 Feet" which starred William Shatner and was directed by Richard Donner (LETHAL WEAPON, SUPERMAN). During World War II, Kemmerer's P-51 Mustang was shot down over occupied France, and he became a POW at the Stalag Luft III POW camp that was made famous in THE GREAT ESCAPE. In THE GREAT ESCAPE, fighter pilot Capt. Virgil Hilts (Steve McQueen) escaped from Stalag Luft III and was then recaptured. Ironically, Kemmerer also escaped from Stalag Luft III and was recaptured.

Ex-THR editor Matthew Belloni said the delay is due to "creative differences" between Jenkins and Lucasfilm, " [T]he real culprit was the dreaded 'creative differences'; specifically, Jenkins couldn’t agree on the script with Lucasfilm executives... That’s not unusual, of course, but it’s a laughably recurring problem at Lucasfilm under president Kathleen Kennedy, say agents: Top filmmakers are dying to make a STAR WARS movie—until they sign on and experience the micromanagement and plot-point-by-committee process...Jenkins wasn’t willing to dick around, and she has other projects, notably WONDER WOMAN 3 at Warner Bros., where she enjoys more creative freedom."

THE LAST DUEL---Ridley Scott commented on the movie's poor box office results, “It was exceedingly disappointing. The fatal thing is when you think you’ve got it, you haven’t – I thought I’d got it on BLADE RUNNER and I hadn’t! I was crucified by a big critic at the time called Pauline Kael. It’s why I never read critiques, ever. You have to be your own decider – if you worry about what the audience is thinking and what they may want, that’s fatal. A good film will find itself, and now BLADE RUNNER is in the Library of Congress.”
Scott also said he is not a fan of superhero movies, "Almost always, the best films are driven by the characters, and we’ll come to superheroes after this if you want because I’ll crush it. I’ll f*cking crush it. They’re f*cking boring as *****. Their scripts are not any f*cking good.
I think I’ve done three great scripted superhero movies. One would be ALIEN with Sigourney Weaver. One would be f*cking GLADIATOR, and one would be Harrison Ford [BLADE RUNNER]. They’re superhero movies. So, why don’t the superhero movies have better stories?

ETERNALS---co-writer Matthew Firpo said he would like villain Galactus to appear in a possible sequel, “Galactus is an amazing, amazing character, and villain. We are, you know, obviously setting the stage for intergalactic, cosmic, megalith confrontations, especially when you kill a space god – and then the space god comes and kidnaps you and plans to judge Earth, I think the door is very much open for world-eating villains.

LETHAL WEAPON 5---Mel Gibson will replace the late Richard Donner as the director of the fifth and last movie in the franchise. Gibson said, “He was developing the screenplay and he got pretty far along with it. And he said to me one day, ‘Listen kid, if I kick the bucket, you will do it.’ And I said: ‘Shut up'...He did indeed pass away. But he did ask me to do it and, at the time, I didn’t say anything. He said it to his wife and to the studio and the producer. So, I will be directing the fifth one.”

RIDERS OF JUSTICE---Lionsgate remake underway of the Danish movie which starred Mads Mikkelsen as a soldier who returns home to care for his teenage daughter after his wife was killed in a train accident and then seeks revenge on those who are responsible for her death.

TRIVIA---Ray Harryhausen's classic JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS was intended to have two sequels. Because the original movie was not a box office success, the first sequel never got beyond the storyboard stage. Harryhausen said he also wanted to continue the original movie's story about Hercules titled LABORS OF HERCULES. It is not known if that sequel would have Nigel Green returning as Hercules. John Landis said Green was, "the best Hercules in the movies".

Our friend, Beau Flynn, had come up with the idea of being like, 'You know what? You love disaster movies. And I would love the idea to do something based around a giant earthquake in the San Andreas fault.' So New Line and Warners have always wanted a sequel to that. So we've been working hard to figure out how we could crack something in that space. But we'd love to be able to continue telling the story in that world. THE CONSULTANT---Christoph Waltz will star in this Amazon studios workplace comedy tv series based on the Bentley Little novel.

MARVEL STUDIOS---Jamie Dornan said he had talks with Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige about a role in which he would be, "donning a cape and tights." He gave no other details.
Also, Feige said Scarlett Johansson is returning in, “another non-Black Widow-related top-secret Marvel Studios project with her as a producer.”

THAT DIRTY BLACK BAG---AMC+ eight-part spaghetti Western miniseries starring Dominic Cooper. BLADE RUNNER---Ridley Scott confirmed he is developing a tv series based on the sci fi movie that starred Harrison Ford, “We have already written the pilot for BLADE RUNNER and the bible. So, we’re already presenting BLADE RUNNER as a TV show, probably the first 10 hours.” Scott and Noah Hawley are also developing an FX tv series based on ALIEN.

OBI-WAN KENOBI---Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy commented on the reunion of Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen for the Disney+ miniseries, "The thing that was most exciting was being on the set and watching the two of them get excited. They hadn't seen one another in a long time. I was surprised at just how incredibly emotional it was for each of them to find themselves back in these roles, and just realizing how important STAR WARS was to each of them. It was the beginning of their careers."
Kennedy also appeared to hint that other characters from the sequel trilogy will return for the miniseries, "Certainly, those are not characters we’re going to forget. They will live on, and those are conversations that are going on with the creative team as well.”

STAR WARS: AHSOKA---Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play Sabine Wren in the Disney+ miniseries starring Rosario Dawson.

DUNE: PART TWO---Denis Villeneuve confirmed PART TWO will feature characters missing from the first movie, including Feyd-Rautha, “Definitely. That’s a choice that I personally brought on. STAR WARS---John Boyega complained that Robert Pattinson got little criticism after he complained about starring in TWILIGHT, but Boyega has received a lot of fan flack for complaining about being in STAR WARS, "I just saw a cycle of endless baiting that I wanted to call out. I was kind of surprised that people were so like, ‘Bloody hell . . . [that he was speaking out] I love Robert Pattinson but he gets to talk ***** about his films, [so] why can’t I?"

JAMES BOND---a British tabloid clams Idris Elba, who is rumored to be a candidate to replace Daniel Craig as 007, has been offered the Bond Villain role in the next James Bond movie, "Idris has had informal talks with the studio and he has been told there is a role in the next Bond film for him, if he wants it. He won't be the title character, but they do recognize the amount of pull and respect he commands, and they want to work with him on a completely original character for the next installment."

CONSTANTINE---Keanu Reeves said he would like to return for a sequel to the 2005 horror movie, "I love playing Constantine. John Constantine. I've played a lot of Johns. How many Johns have I played? I don't even know. I think it's over ten. But anyway, I'd love to have the chance to play Constantine again."

THE LAST DUEL---Ridley Scott's movie took in only $27 million versus its $100 million budget. Scott blamed its failure on millennials, “Disney did a fantastic promotion job. The bosses loved the movie – because I was concerned it was not for them – but they really liked the movie, so their advertising, publicity, et cetera, was excellent.
I think what it boils down to – what we’ve got today [are] the audiences who were brought up on these f–king cell phones. The millennian do not ever want to be taught anything unless you are told it on the cell phone.
This is a broad stroke, but I think we’re dealing with it right now with Facebook. There is a misdirection that has happened where it’s given the wrong kind of confidence to this latest generation, I think.”

NOCTERRA---Netflix and James Wan are developing a tv series based on the horror comic book. The comic book synopsis says, “It’s been ten years since Val Riggs saw the sun swallowed up by darkness.
