Interesting as I've been watching the early Gunsmoke episodes several times a day. The 30 minute episodes are highly entertaining with a very sharp edge to them. Dillon doesn't take any crap and regularly administers beatings to the bad guys, when he isn't outright shooting them full of holes. In general, the B/W episodes are far superior to the later color shows. -- Al

I agree Al, although I particularly like the B/W one hour Gunsmokes from mid '61 thru '66 with Burt Reynolds and Ken Curtis and lots of the usual 1960's cowboy character guest stars. :wink2:

Always loved the "Halo" series. I'll pass on this one.

What I'm going to say is going to be consider more than "NONE PC" in today enlighten world.

Yet, some might think it takes courage to say this, and others would attack me as racist, misogynistic, and even others would find a way to call me homophonic.

In the YouTube "Halo" preview video, count how many white men are featured? Okay, rewind the video and count again...still trying find some?

Apparently the future of the world will be saved and ruled by women and other minorities....hmm, what's the message here?

Hope you're sons aren't white...Let me correct myself, I hope they aren't white males whatever that means in this gender confused world today.

Now, I'm all for contributions from all races, men and women to save humanity. Yet, aren't white men/ boys included here? Doesn't it seem that there is more than a little "social engineering" to balance things out; maybe a little revenge too!

Carlos

Don't get me wrong I don't mind women and minorities in movies and shows but they are overdoing it. I like seeing real Native Americans in westerns and other parts too. I usually like anything Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington are in. I don't mind gays or others in movies but I don't need it shoved in my face in the first 2 minutes of a show. The things I don't like for example is redoing a Buford Pusser movie and having a woman play Buford.{eek3} Give me a break.

The problem is that straight white males have always had role models to look up to, everyone else not so much. If you have never had this problem then count yourself lucky :)

See my comment to Carlos. People just want the same rights as straight white males and until that becomes the norm it will continue to be shoved in your face.

ZORRO---Wilmer Valderrama will star in this Disney reboot of its 1950s tv series. Disney Branded Television head Ayo Davis said, “We’re reimagining this Disney classic as a compelling period piece, set in Pueblo de Los Angeles, but told in a very modern telenovela style — with richly drawn contemporary characters and relationships set against the action, drama, suspense and humor of the original, iconic Zorro. Wilmer shares our commitment to reflect the interesting and rich diversity of the human experience and we look forward to delivering a culturally relevant and entertaining story with definitional characters that will connect with our viewers for generations to come.”

Yep. I really like the interplay between Festus and Quint. Ken Curtis was a highly talented individual. Anyone who was a working actor in Hollywood seemed to show up on Gunsmoke, George Kennedy seemed to be a different character every other week or so. It was a great show and I simply idolize the patented Matt Dillon backhand slap. -- Al

AVATAR---James Cameron expressed some concern the sequels will not make as much money as the original AVATAR, “It sounds kind of nuts, the process. I mean, if AVATAR hadn’t made so much **** money, we’d never do this – because it’s kind of crazy.
The big issue is: Are we going to make any **** money? Big, expensive films have got to make a lot of money. We’re in a new world post-COVID, post-streaming. Maybe those [box office] numbers will never be seen again. Who knows? It’s all a big roll of the dice.”

THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT---executive producer David Filoni commented on the Disney+ spinoff series, “Boba gives us a direct connection to the STAR WARS saga since he was involved in that story. This creates a nice crossover point for both classic characters and new characters. Much of THE MANDALORIAN was new or had not been seen onscreen. Through Boba Fett, we can weave some of those characters and tales together using a character we know but don’t know a lot about.”
Director Robert Rodriguez added, “[Boba] invites a whole world from the underworld in with him. Things turn up you don’t expect, you see things we couldn’t believe we got to do. Every episode has big surprises.”

AVATAR 2---a sequel photo shows human child Miles Socorro "Spider" (Jack Champion), the adopted son of Jake and Neytiri. Jon Landau commented on Socorro, “Jake took him in but Neytiri always saw him as one of the people who destroyed her home and killed her father. So you have all these dynamics playing out.
If you look at what Jim [Cameron] does in his movies, he writes in universal themes that are bigger than the genre of any one movie… This time around, we’re taking Jake and Neytiri and building the most universal theme of all around them. Which is family.
Jake comes from the human world, Neytiri from the Na’vi world. So, they’re like a modern mixed-race couple, raising kids who perhaps feel they don’t belong to one world or another.”

In the UK it is $7.30 per gallon, but why don't you look at salary
2021 - $53,490
1988 - $19,334

Thats a 277% rate rise.

Average cost of car as compare to salary costs, which are 17% lower, cars have gone down in price, so you are spending significant less on a car than you were in 1988.

Average mile per gallon
1988 - 18.8
2021 - 26

Plus look at a non-US designed/made car, instead of the American designed/made gas gussering hunk of junk. US designed and made cars are the worse on the planet, hence why they do not sell abroad, every other country's car makers have a large overseas market or markets, except for the American domestic car makers, because they are are awful when compared with a car from the Far East or Continental Europe. In quality, fuel and reliability.

I have a Japanese SUV and i get 40 to 55 MPG, motorway driving i am averaging 48MPH.

In the US, as with the UK, the Japanese lost the war but completely won the Peace when it comes to cars.

THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT---new artwork released of Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).

BOOK-BOBA-FETT-2.jpg

SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME---the sequel earned over $1 billion globally making it the biggest hit of 2021 and the first movie to earn $1 billion during the post-pandemic.

SUPERHEROES---Tom Holland commented on Martin Scorsese's criticism of superhero movies, “You can ask [Martin] Scorsese, ‘Would you want to make a Marvel movie?’ But he doesn’t know what it’s like because he’s never made one. I’ve made Marvel movies and I’ve also made movies that have been in the conversation in the world of the Oscars, and the only difference, really, is one is much more expensive than the other. But the way I break down the character, the way the director etches out the arc of the story and characters – it’s all the same, just done on a different scale. So I do think they’re real art.
When you’re making these films, you know that good or bad, millions of people will see them, whereas when you’re making a small indie film, if it’s not very good, no one will watch it, so it comes with different levels of pressure.
I mean, you can also ask Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr. or Scarlett Johansson – people who have made the kinds of movies that are ‘Oscar-worthy’ and also made superhero movies – and they will tell you that they’re the same, just on a different scale. And there’s less spandex in ‘Oscar movies.'”

COBRA KAI---after Andrew Garfield said he is a big fan of COBRA KAI, producer Jon Hurwitz commented on Garfield appearing on the show, “I don’t even know how to answer that right now. I will say that we were giddy as well when we saw his reaction and how much he loves the show. We’re all fans of his. He’s such an amazing talented actor that you’d want to find something that is surprising. I think that you’d give him a unique look and a unique feel and unique angle and make him unlike any other character in the show. I think that’s where we’d start. But as to any specifics, I probably shouldn’t say anything because, who knows? Maybe he will be on the show and I don’t want take any chances of ruining that”.

THE WHEEL OF TIME---Amazon Television co-head Vernon Sanders said he and showrunner Rafe Judkins wants to adapt all 15 of the novels, "Our ideal is to work with Rafe and the team on the full thing. Obviously that's a ways down the road. So we're focused on where we are right now. And Rafe and the team have just shared the first few episodes of Season two, and I wish I could get those out to everyone right away. They're just, they're great."

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Lana Wood, the younger sister of Natalie Wood, played Bond Girl Plenty O'Toole with Sean Connery in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. She had an affair with Connery while filming, but Wood ended it because she was really in love with lyricist Leslie Bricusse, who wrote the lyrics for "Goldfinger" and "You Only Live Twice". Bricusse had promised to marry her after divorcing his wife, actress Yvonne Romain (THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF), but he never did. Wood said, "At the time I had a really lovely relationship with Leslie Bricusse, Leslie had gone back to London. And I just felt that I really had to tell Sean that this relationship would not continue because I was very much in love with Leslie Bricusse. I thought Sean was absolutely wonderful, but I couldn’t see him anymore. I had to tell him. So when I told him, he said, ‘I understand completely.’ And that was it. We were in the hallway leading to the casino getting ready to shoot. And I walked away. I finished the take and then went back to hair and makeup."
She added, "I just needed him to know. And then many years later, all of a sudden, it dawned on me. He probably thought, ‘What a silly girl! Of course, we weren’t going to have a relationship.’ I just thought it was funny that I had to say something to him. But I had to be honest with him."
Ironically, Connery and Romain appeared together in two movies: ACTION OF THE TIGER and THE FRIGHTENED CITY.
