THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT---new artwork released of Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen).
SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME---the sequel earned over $1 billion globally making it the biggest hit of 2021 and the first movie to earn $1 billion during the post-pandemic.
SUPERHEROES---Tom Holland commented on Martin Scorsese's criticism of superhero movies, “You can ask [Martin] Scorsese, ‘Would you want to make a Marvel movie?’ But he doesn’t know what it’s like because he’s never made one. I’ve made Marvel movies and I’ve also made movies that have been in the conversation in the world of the Oscars, and the only difference, really, is one is much more expensive than the other. But the way I break down the character, the way the director etches out the arc of the story and characters – it’s all the same, just done on a different scale. So I do think they’re real art.
When you’re making these films, you know that good or bad, millions of people will see them, whereas when you’re making a small indie film, if it’s not very good, no one will watch it, so it comes with different levels of pressure.
I mean, you can also ask Benedict Cumberbatch or Robert Downey Jr. or Scarlett Johansson – people who have made the kinds of movies that are ‘Oscar-worthy’ and also made superhero movies – and they will tell you that they’re the same, just on a different scale. And there’s less spandex in ‘Oscar movies.'”
COBRA KAI---after Andrew Garfield said he is a big fan of COBRA KAI, producer Jon Hurwitz commented on Garfield appearing on the show, “I don’t even know how to answer that right now. I will say that we were giddy as well when we saw his reaction and how much he loves the show. We’re all fans of his. He’s such an amazing talented actor that you’d want to find something that is surprising. I think that you’d give him a unique look and a unique feel and unique angle and make him unlike any other character in the show. I think that’s where we’d start. But as to any specifics, I probably shouldn’t say anything because, who knows? Maybe he will be on the show and I don’t want take any chances of ruining that”.
THE WHEEL OF TIME---Amazon Television co-head Vernon Sanders said he and showrunner Rafe Judkins wants to adapt all 15 of the novels, "Our ideal is to work with Rafe and the team on the full thing. Obviously that's a ways down the road. So we're focused on where we are right now. And Rafe and the team have just shared the first few episodes of Season two, and I wish I could get those out to everyone right away. They're just, they're great."
TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
Lana Wood, the younger sister of Natalie Wood, played Bond Girl Plenty O'Toole with Sean Connery in DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER. She had an affair with Connery while filming, but Wood ended it because she was really in love with lyricist Leslie Bricusse, who wrote the lyrics for "Goldfinger" and "You Only Live Twice". Bricusse had promised to marry her after divorcing his wife, actress Yvonne Romain (THE CURSE OF THE WEREWOLF), but he never did. Wood said, "At the time I had a really lovely relationship with Leslie Bricusse, Leslie had gone back to London. And I just felt that I really had to tell Sean that this relationship would not continue because I was very much in love with Leslie Bricusse. I thought Sean was absolutely wonderful, but I couldn’t see him anymore. I had to tell him. So when I told him, he said, ‘I understand completely.’ And that was it. We were in the hallway leading to the casino getting ready to shoot. And I walked away. I finished the take and then went back to hair and makeup."
She added, "I just needed him to know. And then many years later, all of a sudden, it dawned on me. He probably thought, ‘What a silly girl! Of course, we weren’t going to have a relationship.’ I just thought it was funny that I had to say something to him. But I had to be honest with him."
Ironically, Connery and Romain appeared together in two movies: ACTION OF THE TIGER and THE FRIGHTENED CITY.
