THE BATMAN PART II---Colin Farrell talked about returning as The Penguin for the sequel, “I’ve got an even smaller role in this one. Many possibilities.”

THE WESTIES---Titus Welliver commented on his new MGM+ crime series, “What it really is, is a story about the Westies. In 1981, there was the building of the Javits Center. And of course, the Irish — the Westies — controlled the docks and they controlled the west side. But the Gambino family, of course, had their own hold on the union. So there had to be a kind of meeting of the minds there, despite the fact that the Westies were outnumbered by the Gambinos 100 to one. They were formidable and they were tough. And of course, the Gambinos used them for hits and things like that, so sort of this odd marriage.”

LIONESS---Paramount+ renewed the series for Season 3.

AMI---Mads Mikkelsen and Diane Kruger star in the sci fi survival movie whose plot is described as, "AMI centers on an astronaut (Mikkelsen) who crash-lands on an uncharted planet after a catastrophic accident, with only his Quantum AI companion Ami (Kruger) left to aid in his escape. As he navigates an alien landscape and a battle for survival, he is forced to confront the fragility of memory, the isolation of space, and the resilience of the human spirit.

DCU---James Gunn commented on future DCU projects, “Right now, there’s actually two really cool film scripts that I’m hoping to take to the next level that we have general plans for, and I’m excited about both of those. And then I’m excited about one TV project in particular. I don’t know why we’re not greenlighted on that already—it’s just figuring out the budget. So there’s a couple of things that are very present that I’m excited about. Dealing with getting SUPERGIRL into shape, all these other things.
Watching episodes of LANTERNS—that’s coming along well. So, it’s really just dealing a little bit with everything and then mostly MAN OF TOMORROW. That’s the biggest thing for me. I mean, we go into production in April, so it may seem like far away to you, but to me, it seems awful close.”

SHERLOCK HOLMES 3---producer Susan Downey, wife of Robert Downey, Jr., commented on the status of the sequel, "I would love to bring a third Sherlock to the world. I really would. And we've been playing with it for a long time. We've been talking about a slightly different direction. It's always been kind of set in America, and whether that's a good idea or not, I'm not sure, but I love it. I love that idea. So, I would just love to do it. It's just hard. It's been a while, the bar is really high, or at least Robert has set the bar really high, so I don't know."

JOHN WICK---writer Austin Everett said he is working on a new JOHN WICK movie which is an “original samurai Western set in the John Wick universe. That’s probably as much as I can say”.

PEAKY BLINDERS---BBC/Netflix is developing a sequel with two seasons. The synopsis says, “Britain, 1953. After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger, with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

TRIVIA---in JURASSIC WORLD REBIRTH, when paleontologist Dr. Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey) touches a dinosaur, a Titanosaurus, for the first time, Bailey performed the solo clarinet for the soundtrack. Bailey said, “This really was the highlight of my career. The nerd in me erupted like Vesuvius.”

JAMES BOND DAY---to celebrate James Bond Day, Amazon Prime released posters showing the actors who played 007----but Bond's signature Walther PPK pistol was digitally deleted. After a fan outcry, Amazon replaced the artwork with photos of James Bond in scenes where he did not originally carry a pistol. Some observers speculate that Amazon deleted the pistol in order to appeal to younger fans who are more anti-gun than older audiences.

MOVIES---Ridley Scott commented on the state of today's movies, "Well, actually, right now, I'm finding mediocrity – we're drowning in mediocrity. And so what I do – it's a horrible thing – but I've started watching my own movies, and actually they're pretty good! And also, they don't age. I watched BLACK HAWK [DOWN] the other night and I thought, "How in the hell did I manage to do that?" But I think occasionally a good one will happen, [and] it's like a relief that there’s somebody out there who's doing a good movie."

THE PARTNER---Tom Holland is in negotiations to play Patrick Lanigan and Jason Bateman is in negotiations to direct the movie based on the John Grisham novel. The synopsis says, “The story follows Patrick Lanigan, a young partner in a white shoe Biloxi law firm who fakes his own death in a burning car. He’s left behind a wife, newborn daughter, and a secret. What he’s actually done is fake his death to create a template for a new life by stealing $90 million from a client of his crooked law firm. He finds happiness and love in South America. When the client, who worked so hard to defraud the government, finds the money is missing from his offshore accounts, he becomes determined to hunt down the lawyer he doesn’t believe is dead. That leads the attorney to have to turn himself in to the FBI and face up to the wife, child, and life he left behind.”

MONSTER: THE ED GEIN STORY---the Netflix anthology series received a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of 29% based on 17 reviews and an audience score of 53% based on over 500 reviews. This is the lowest score of all the MONSTER seasons.

BALLARD---Amazon Prime renewed the series for Season 2.

THE GREAT NORTH---Fox cancelled the series.

TRIVIA---Alfred Hitchcock's THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH starred Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day. Day sang the song "Whatever will be" which later became known as "Que Sera Sera". The song received an Academy Award for Best Original Song, was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame and became Day's signature song, although she originally disliked the song.
"Que Sera Sera" was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans---but not for THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH. Livingston got the idea for a new song after watching a scene in THE BAREFOOT CONTESSA where the words "Que Sera Sera" are carved in stone. The team wrote the song and two weeks later, Hitchcock's office called requesting they write a song for THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH in which Doris Days sings a song to her young son. The team waited two weeks to give the appearance that they were busy writing the song for the movie and then played it for Hitchcock. His response was, "Gentlemen, I didn't know what kind of song I wanted, and that is the kind of song I want!"

I've watched The Man Who Knew Too Much (they could have just killed the Jimmy Stewart character but then there would have been no movie) several times and cringe every time I hear DD sing Que Sera Sera.

THE SMASHING MACHINE---the Dwayne Johnson biomovie about UFC champ Mark Kerr earned only $5.9 million in its premiere which is the lowest opening in Johnson's career. He commented on its disappointing box office, “From deep in my grateful bones, thank you to everyone who has watched The Smashing Machine,” Johnson wrote. “In our storytelling world, you can’t control box office results — but what I realized you can control is your performance, and your commitment to completely disappear and go elsewhere. And I will always run to that opportunity. It was my honor to transform in this role for my director Benny Safdie. Thank you brother for believing in me. Truth is this film has changed my life.“

DOC SAVAGE---Shane Black (IRON MAN 3) said he still wants to make a movie based on the pulp comic hero that was announced in 2009 with Dwayne Johnson, “I’ve always loved DOC SAVAGE. It’s based on ‘30s pulp, and he was the OG superhero. His name was Clark [Savage Jr.], and he was literally described as a 'super man'. So the first Doc Savage [in 1933] was before Clark Kent/Superman [in 1938]. He was the inspiration behind a generation of comic books and pulps and wonderful sh-t. So I would love, at some point, to revisit that. The problem is that the IP is not a household name. It’s much easier to fund something at that level of expense if it has Batman or Superman attached, as opposed to something that is going to be just as expensive and is less of a household name."
He also commented on might play Doc Savage in a new movie, “I don’t know. The problem is that it has to be someone that you can approach a studio with and say, ‘It’s going to be $150 million. Minimum.’ Doc Savage is about an entire world of adventure, and it’s a ‘30s period piece. I wouldn’t want to modernize it. So, yeah, I would look into finding a way to do that, but I still don’t have an actor in mind. It would have to be someone compelling enough to get the studio to loosen up those purse strings for us.“
The 1975 movie starred Ron Ely was a box office disappointment.

CLUE---Netflix competition tv series underway in which contestants undergo physical and mental challenges involving the board game characters including Miss Scarlet, Col. Mustard, Prof. Plum and Mrs. Peacock.

TRIVIA---Roger Moore and Lee Marvin starred in the World War I adventure movie SHOUT AT THE DEVIL set in Africa. Moore commented on Marvin's well-deserved reputation for boozing by saying a baby passed out from Marvin's alcohol-tainted breath, “One of the things was that Lee had a little problem with alcohol…Twice on the film, he went on a bender, and there was a sequence where his daughter on the film has had a baby, and my character was the father. He came in and he was really well gone, and he had this scene where he had to pick up the baby. He wasn’t holding it well and he was shaking, so I thought he was going to drop it. In the reverse shots of me I’m looking worried, and I really was worried. I was petrified he was going to drop this baby. The baby was screaming but when he took hold of it, it went dead quiet. I think he’d breathed on it, and his breath was 99 per cent pure alcohol.”
