My JJD Great War Displays (1 Viewer)

Hi Mike,

Impressive! Very nice indeed..I also love these French JJD´s.....
If I may ask, what is the material from which Hudson & Allen make the buildings and Road? Are they resistant and can be assembled in various dioramas and once finished stored or chip very easily, hence need to be left on a shelf ?
Cheers
Luiz
The H&A scenic are made out of a rigid foam that is very durable. Items like the paved street sections and the wall sections are also very easily trimmed and cut if needed with an Exacto razor saw. All the scenics should store easily without worry of chipping. IMHO these are some of the best items of this kind on the market.

Here are some photos to the third and last part of my French village street scene. This part of the village has been hit hard by the ravages of the war . . . The French soldier pulling the mule is a Thomas Gunn figure . . . Mike

As always, great pics of your collection, Mike. JJ has indicated in the past that he conceptualizes much of his collection as shelf displays. This would appear to be evidenced pretty clearly in the Poilu and War of the Roses ranges, both of which show well in linear arrangements, and, as you've employed, so beautifully, above. What I adore so much about his approach is that he sets out down that path...and then just keeps going! Collectors are left as beneficiaries of large ranges with tremendous depth and diversity, not to mention artistic merit. Good stuff to my mind!

Couldn't agree with you more Moe and this is what attracted me to the Poilu. Anymore I much prefer the non-combat posed figures that tell the story of the tedium and the "hurry up and wait" aspects of a combat theater. As anybody knows that served, there is a lot more marching than there is fighting. The Knights of the Sky maintenance and ground crew figures also lend to this nicely as well and certainly facilitate "aerodrome" shelf displays.

GWF-40 3-man MG Crew arrived at my doorstep yesterday. Superbly done and a great addition to my long line of weary French troops . . . . .

Love this vignette, sort of collecting within a collection. Certainly one of the highlights for this series as displayed in this scene. Robin.

I agree completely, Robin. JJ's Poilu offer some truly unique opportunities for display, and I always enjoy seeing collectors leverage those qualities, to their credit...and for our enjoyment!

Thanks Robin . . . The plight and sacrifice of the French Poilu have been well told in John's sculpts . . . . Magnificently well done and they easily facilitate great looking scenarios and dioramas . . .

???? Well Photo Bucket has blocked my availability to upload my pictures to the TF Forum (3rd Party Hosting). In order to be able to continue to do this I have to upgrade my service options which will cost $400 a year. Guess what . . . . that's not going to happen. Has anybody else experienced this? Going forward I will try and upload photos via the TF forum site but its been so long ago since I did that I don't remember how its done. I'll be back when I get this figured out . . . . .

Mike, it just happened to me. I now use Smug Mug. Only costs about $75 a year.
