Here is my last purchase for this Chicago event, a set I had in mind for several years and finally did purchase now. A glossy set from Ted Deddens (Tedtoys) and it is called "Dead Or Alive", showing a Marshal bringing home some Desperado. A beautiful set in a great finish. Ted Dedden's Toy Soldiers are of a remarkable quality.

You have picked up some great stuff Konrad. The "dead or alive" set is a favourite of mine as well.

Oh, one more photo.
I knew I came to the right place when I saw this on the parking lot ;):)

Hi Konrad,

Thanks very much for posting the great shots of your fine purchases.

I have noted that several seasoned collectors complete their purchases even before the actual day of the show.

Is that the "MO" to get what you want at OTSN Chicago?

Best Regards, Raymond.

PS: I wonder what's inside the trailer.

Grand total for me was:

2 pieces from Ken Osen

A Nelson's Navy figure

2 Guards Camel Corps camels by K & C

Somerset Maxim Pack mule and Handler

K & C winter Hanomag

K & C Jeep (DD 75)

Monty figure

Rommel figure and Polish figure, courtesy of Figarti and K & C, respectively. Thank you Rick and Andy.

Hi Brad you got a pic of that Rommel figure please,ta.

Here are a few pics of more purchases.
I bought the first two 4-piece releases from Treefrog's exclusive "Shore of Tripoli" line, sculpted and casted by Honour Bound and painted in the U.S.
The quality of these figures is top notch and after looking at them again and again I could not resist and started this new series.
Here are some pictures.
First are the currently available Marines, 4 different poses.

Thanks for posting these excellent photos! This line looks terrific, very well done. To me it would be a case of the sheer quality of the figures bringing me to buy them and then get into the History behind them (I really know nothing about this historical period), whilst in other cases I am interested for instance in WWI and search for nice figures for that period.

Cheers,
Paulo

What did I buy, Figarti, Figarti and more Figarti!
I also bought the TSSD Custer set along with a couple of Hobby Bunkers buildings.
Did pick up the Fountain from the long retired French village facade set. The guy was selling off 3 complete sets he "found". Glad I wondered into his room when I was down to my last few dollars!
Another great show, met a lot of new guys from the Forum, plus my old friends from it.
Also had more than one good laugh with my good buddy George from Minuteman. Loved hearing Georges dad cursing as he was trying to set up figures and they kept falling!
Only 364 days until OTSN 2010.

I will just mention the old K&C sets I was able to buy and not bore you with the other stuff:

6 figures of the glossy 82nd Airborne for $90.:D
5 glossy French Foreign Legion wearing helmets with goggles and US MP in paratrooper boots with white laces and grease gun, all 6 for $90:D
4 Arnhem-44 sets for $90 each
4 Viet Nam sets for $90 each
LAH motorcycle with sidecar for $120

Also got a discount because I bought all the vendor's old K&C.

The look on Brad's face when I described my buys ... priceless.:D:D:D

The Vulture has struck!!!

Steven is quite mistaken. I was very happy for him :) The hunt doesn't excite me as much as it used to; it makes the shows more enjoyable that way. I have no complaints. I scored two old K & C camels and as I love the camels, I was quite happy.

In addition to the sets listed earlier, I also picked up

LW026 Searchlight
LW027 Spotter
IWJ08
IWJ09
IWJ14
IWJ15

and I met many forum members for the first time.

Nice scoop Steven. Those are some seriously good deals.

I was able to acquire 8 Wm Britain ACW sets, 1 Conte ACW set, and 4 custom made scenic bases I commissioned Ken Osen to make for me, each 22"x22". They can be used individually or interlocked to make a 44" square diorama. I have posted pics of all in the Wm Britains section.

Mike

I obtained the following:

1. Heco Tinplate Floatplane.
2. K&C Small Square Desert Diorama Base (you can never have too many desert diorama bases).
3. Several Figarti vehicles and guns released at the show (Texas Priest, Bulldozer Sherman, M3 Halftrack, Bofers AAA Gun & Crew).
4. Figarti LCT.
5. K&C & Figarti Show Figures (Polish Infantry & Rommel).
6. Figarti JS-2 Prototype & M1A1 Abrams Prototype.
7. Black Watch Captain's Mess Jacket, 10th Gurkha Rifles Belt and Kukri (Gurkha Knife) - you have to have some real military memorabelia if you want to call your display a museum.

I had such a great time, and really the best part was getting to either meet or visit with all of my friends from this forum who were able to attend, including Beuafighter (Marc), Phantom Warrior (Terry), Lewey Gun Vick, Kilted Vampire (Michael), Warbuff26 (Bryan), Jazzeum (Brad), Leadman (John), Wadepat (Pat), Southbaytoys (Andrew), Viriato (Rod), Lurcchio (Clive), TDubel (Tom), Warrior (George), Rick Wang, Steven Chong, Andy, Gordon, Laura and her son Jamie, Helen & Patrick from K&C, Hans Hedrich, Larry Lo, Ken & Ericka Osen, Richard Walker from Britains, Matt from the Hobby Bunker, Pete, Shannon & Mandi from Treefrog, and I appologize to anyone I chatted with but did not mention here. You gentlemen (and ladies) are what make this hobby so wonderful for me.:)

To follow up on Louis', Tom's and other gracious words, there were many who made the trip special: Louis, Tom, Larry, Hans, Clive, Brian (Warbuff26, who helped us get around and who is a great guy), George G., Carlos (a terrific upbeat person) and his lovely wife Nancy, Andy, Gordon, Helen and Patrick of K & C, Rick and Peter of Figarti, Terry (Phantom Warrior), Gary from St. Louis, John (Leadmen), Konrad, Showman, Shannon, Pete, Mandi, Matt of Hobby Bunker, Jacob (Lewey Gun Vick, a heck of a nice young man), the Halls, KV and tons of others and, yes, let's not forget the Vulture himself and his crowing (mixing birds of prey I guess). If I'm missing anyone, my apologies.

It's not the purchases but the people that make this a special event every year.

Congratulations to Steven Chong !
That was a very good find. Arnhem 44 and Vietnam at bargain prices.
Well done
Regards
Brett
