I knew you had taken lots of pics Tom, glad to finally see some of them!

The Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola is one of the USA's finest military museums if you like aircraft. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Tom:

The pics of the Stuka are amazing. That plane alone may finally motivate me to make it to the show.

Hi Tom, thanks for the additional photos, I really enjoyed looking at all those Aircraft Carrier models. Back in the 1980's I recall seeing a 1/72 scale model of an aircraft carrier in the Gold Coast War Museum at Mudgeeraba. I think that's where it was, I can't even remember what carrier it was, could have been the USS Enterprise, but it sure was BIG {eek3} I had a big day there playing skirmish/paintball with some mates, was a lot fitter back then. Btw, have you been to the Armour and Artillery Museum in Cairns, well worth a visit they say.

Can see why you now would like to collect ships, this carrier is fantastic. Robin.

Yeah Robin and if you were to see them in person you would be truly amazed!

No worries Mike and I would love to be inside one, so long as it was inside my house and I owned it! {sm3}

Tom , do you remember the scale or size of this awesome carrier (the Hornet)? Chris

Sorry Chris, I didn't see the scale, to busy being in awe at all the carriers! Maybe google the museum and carrier and it might provide some info...

I totally agree Duke, it's up there with all the museums I have been too.

You should go Jason, there's so much to see and do in Chicago and it's easy and inexpensive to get into the city from Schaumburg via the public bus and train.

Your welcome Matt and I was reading about how long it took to build the Enterprise and I'm pretty sure the info said 10 years! No, haven't been to the Armour and Artillery Museum in Cairns but have heard it's pretty good.

Just catching up with this thread looks like you really had a good time Tom, I remember going up in the tower and the fabulous views to be had from there.

Thanks Steve and yeah, it's bloody high up there!

I still have heaps more pic's to post from my trip, just have to find the time to do it!

Tom

Hi all

Well, it's been a while since I last added anything to this thread so here's some more pic's of my next stop (via the Pensacola Lighthouse), the battleship Alabama in Mobile Alabama. My good mate Duke took me there and we climbed all over the bloody great thing!

Duke didn't ask me to do a "Cher" on the gun barrel by the way....^&grin

More pic's with me and Duke opening up (in our minds anyway) on attacking Jap planes...

The last pic is the museum shop and other exhibits (there's heaps more there other than the battleship as my next lot of pic's will show) as well as the city of Mobile
