N.f.l. 2010 season (2 Viewers)

I think there are teams who made it as wild cards as 8-8 but never a divison winner. The Rams are getting better but are not really ready for prime time yet.

However, the playoffs are going to be expanded so this may become a common occurrence unless they do something.

Brad,
Chris is right; in 1986, the Browns won the AFC Central with a record of 8-8. They played Miam in the playoffs in the second round, we played Oakland. Miami was down I think 21-0 at one point, they came back to win the game.

I remember a group of friends of mine made plans to go the the AFCCG and we were concerned we'd have to go to Cleveland instead of Miami, but the Doofins won the game; if we had gone to Miami, we wouldn't have made it ouf of the stadium alive.......

MLB is also going to expand the playoffs unfortunately. I think it's fine right now but, hey, money is money :D

The Vikes and Bears are playing outside tonight because of the problems with the dome. Predicting 4-6 inches of snow and -1 wind chill. Now that is more like it. I can remember the days when the old Vikes played in those conditions. That was brutal.

An up here, a -1 wind chill is pretty balmy! This will be the warmest night in the last couple weeks.

LOL. I can't imagine anyone going to a game in those conditions, but it sure is fun to watch on TV. Let it snow while I drink hot chocolate on the sofa.

Wonder if Alan Page, Carl Eller, Jim Marshall and Gary Larsen will be there.

That's Bear weather, man, the way the game should be played.

The Favre circus continues...there's a chance that he'll play tonight. Must have seen that it wouldn't be as cold as he expected...

Indeed it is, and Packer weather too for that matter. Just watch out for that guy with the little tractor for the Vikes field goal efforts; George should appreciate that one.:p:D Given the team's relative reliance on the passing game I would think this now favors the Vikes. Besides I would like them to win this one to stay above us in the draft.;)

You're assuming that we'd actually get our draft in on time...

This is the way Football should be played: outdoors, in the snow and cold, not in those freakin' domes, and with the Bears winning of course. Of course, I'll be singing a different tune next Sunday when they play the Jets.

Anyone remember how they handled the Giants and Rams back in 85? Man, that was cold.

Urlacher is being interviewed after the game in short sleeves and the announcers are dressed like they're in the North Pole.

..we also have the Andre Waters' of the world. Andre Waters, a DB for the Eagles, committed suicide at the age of 44, because he had been depressed, which led to his ultimate death. A neuropathologist who examined Andre Waters' brain tissue after he died found that his brain tissue had degenerated into that of an 85-year-old man with similar characteristics as those of early-stage Alzheimer’s victims. Pretty sad.

That's a tragic shame. I had forgotten that story till you brought it up yesterday. That guy was a hitter and was one of the best I ever saw play the game. Another guy that I think played in the shadow of Ronnie Lott was Alvin Walton of the Redskins- that guy was brutal and his talent knew no limit.

Someone needs to tell Favre "no mas." That was a sad situation with him laying face down on the frozen tundra. Enough is enough. He has already ruined his reputation and now he is starting to remind me of the Mickey Rourke character in "The Wrestler."

I am afraid, I can't quite agree. He has been the definition of an Ironman in the NFL (as a QB no less) and has set numerous records and won untold games, often in spectacular fashion. Mostly he has acted with reasonable class for professional athletes of this vintage and his last year (at 40) was simply amazing. His recent off field stupidity with the Jets "hostess" of the time is relatively tame and reasonably related to the obvious temptation of the situation. There is no doubt he is HoF material as soon as eligible. I certainly wish he had played for us during his career. He is not the first player to stay in the game he obviously loves for a bit too long and he didn't misjudge by much. The fact that his body finally can't cash those checks anymore I think is reasonable to forgive.;)

I can.

Nothing worse than watching an athlete who doesn't know when to say when.

His yearly "Will he retire" drama queen act has gotten very old, very fast.

He should have packed it in after that boneheaded INT he threw vs the Giants in the 2008 NFCCG, his year with the Jets was a joke, 9-7 and down in flames, last year was nice, but he still blew it at the end of the NFCCG vs the Saints, this year has been a farce.

All of his so called talent and he won a grand total of one Super Bowl.

Wonderful.

Don't go away mad, just go away.

Please.

Sorry George, I think you are just wrong on this one. No athlete is perfect or ever has been.;) He is not my favorite QB of all time but I still think his record has been quite impressive.:)

That's fine, we'll agree to disagree.

Ever since game 2 of the 2001 season, I've been lucky here in New England to watch perfection on Sundays during the NFL season.

He wears #12.................

Yes you have been very lucky. Actually I almost mentioned that in the last post. I think you are judging from a perspective that most of the rest of us have not had the chance to enjoy for a while. Hell, the last QB I was happy with was Brad Johnson.;):D I did think Rippen was pretty good but I have to go back to Little Joe to find a Skin QB that I really liked.:(:D Our last number one QB choice is now a US Congressman. Of course I grew up with Johnny U so maybe I don't deserve another legend.;) Pity, I guess, that I gave up on the Colts when they left.:)
