N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

This Giants coaching hiring process seems like a fiasco. It was assumed all along that Matt Rhule would be their guy but they moved very slowly and the Panthers swooped in and got him. It’s the difference between how business used to be fun and how business works nowadays. Moreover, the Giants management is poor. On the rebound — and they will deny this is the case — they hired Judge. The Giants said they had to move fast because Mississippi State, Judge’s alma mater, was courting him for their HC. Mississippi State? If I were the Giants, I would have said, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

The way this team is run now is a far cry from when Wellington Mara was life. NY has two teams that are a laughing stock.

Jason...
I actually read that in an article...

also they have parted company with Marinelli and hired Mike Nolan as defensive coordinator......
I'm guessing they will keep Kris Richard...

pretty much a complete overhaul on both sides of the ball...

Mike:

There is plenty of talk about the hiring, but at this point, I think it was the best move Jones could have made.

A college hire would have been met with even more scrutiny and questions, and after all of those seasons with Garrett as a player, coordinator and head coach he really needed to look outside of the organization.

Some people think that McCarthy will bring in a new system for Dak to learn and that could be a problem. I say that Prescott is an extremely intelligent QB who will not have any issues learning whatever the new coaching staff brings to the table.

You nailed it...…..as usual.

Why the rush here? They never bothered to interview McDaniels?

So...…………...what's the headline in the NY Post going to be tomorrow;

"Judge over Rhule"...…….OR...…………"Here come Da Judge!!..………..I'm going with the former.

But the bigger question is; is NY big enough for two Judges?...…………:wink2:

It looks like Cleveland might hire McDaniels, but they will find a way to screw it up.

Jason...]

were gonna have to see how it shakes out...I think it was time to put the Garrett experiment to bed...who knows...I am excited about next year...but as a Cowboy's fan...it always seem like next year...^&grin

towards the end...I wanted either McCarthy or Dungy...

I think Dak is considered a leader by his team mates...I think that he is motivated...talented and dedicated...but I think he needs a lot of work to reach his potential....I never liked the idea of John Kitna being the QB coach...I thought he sucked as a QB...so the Cowboys hire him to teach/coach their QB...I don't understand that...what qualifies him to teach?

I read that the a reason the Cowboys didn't fire Garrett immediately...was that they were afraid someone from the NFC East would hire him...and knowing their playbook and system...they didn't want to have to face him twice a year...

Well he's rumored to be heading to the Giants as their OC, so it may still happen yet.

And as far as Kitna; "Those who can, do; those who can't,teach"...………….

Mike:

At the very least, McCarthy was the best of all of the available coaches. I don't think Dungy is ever coming back to coaching.

And I think you hit the bulls eye with Dak. The good news is that once that potential is tapped he will be an elite QB. On the Kitna front, I can't figure out what qualifies a guy to be a coach anymore, you almost never see the all-time greats coaching, it is always some guy who was mediocre at best.

The Cowboys' playbook is probably going to change a lot under McCarthy so much of Garrett's knowledge (offense) will be rendered some what useless. Look for Dak to roll out a lot just like Farve and Rodgers did. He has that ability and McCarthy has that knowledge/scheme.

George...

I just read that the Giants hired NE's wide receiver coach...Joe judge...to be their head coach...

Yup and considering the tire fire their WR's were this year, this is going to turn out swimmingly for the NY football Giants...………...

All,

I vote for George to be the next head coach of the Cowboys. I bet he'd do it for free.

John from Texas

65 toss power trap would be a mainstay in my offense, I'd have Prescott run the RPO offense that is all the rage in the NFL as well.

And I would do if for free, the pay would be better than peddling toy soldiers...………………..

I had to laugh this morning when I heard Matt Rhule's interview regarding why he chose the Panthers.

Over and over he said it was the right fit and he knew it right away, from the owner to the roster it was where he wanted to be!

Except (From the NF: Network):

"NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport reports that Rhule called the Giants on Monday evening and gave then an opportunity to match the deal being offered by the Panthers."

Once, just once in pro sports I want someone to admit that they went or signed somewhere because that is where they were offered the most money.

Predictions:

Niners 27 Vikes 23: I heard a guy on the radio make a lot of good points about how the Vikes might win this including their playoff experience vs the lack of playoff experience by the Niners. But at home, I think the Niners get it done. The Vikes are a good underdog pick though at something like +6 points.

Seattle 20 Green Bay 17: King Pete gives them a chance but injuries might be the difference. I think the weather on Sunday is also better than Saturday which probably helps the Packers.

KC 38 Texans 17: The Chiefs will put a beatdown on at home. Houston didn't impress much last week.

Ravens 34 TN 10: Henry gives TN a chance but they need more than 14 points to win this game. The Ravens will pull away in the second half.

I agree with the AFC picks but on the NFC picks I’d be surprised if Green Bay loses. Not impossible but surprised. SF should win but I saw some stat yesterday where the 49ers defense in the second half of the season was something like 24th in the league. Now, they did have a lot of injuries on defense and everyone is back so perhaps they will revert to early season form. If not, it could be nip and tuck. My son, the Niner fan, says I’m always pessimistic and hopefully he’s right.

Solid picks all the way around.

Pete always has his team ready to go, I wonder sometimes if sitting for two weeks helps or hurts, so we'll see.

And both AFC games are going to be blow outs, maybe Vrabel can polish up his stand up act, he's been chirping and breaking balls about how they took down the Patriots.

Wow Mike you won by a point, forget about that garbage time TD late, so stop running your mouth...…...

George...what are you talking about...is this to me?

I won by a point so stop running my mouth?

I don't know what this is in reference to???

My favorite part of that game was when Mike Vrabel was able to run almost two minutes off the clock late in the 4th quarter using that loophole with the multiple delay of game and false start penalties. Belichick was ranting away like a madman on the sideline. Romo said something like the tactic was "Belichick-like" meaning slimy. I was impressed that Romo even knew the rule about the clock and penalties with more than 5 minutes left and could explain what was going on. Most of the time the commentators are clueless.
