N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (4 Viewers)

I saw that...injuries this week were unbelievable across the board...but SF really got the worst of it...

My son has written off the season without Bosa or Jimmy G for a month or so. His call is now “Suck for Trevor.”

The players were complaining about the artificial turf at Met Life and are concerned about playing there against the Giants next week. Everything about that stadium is cheap.

that's brutal to lose you best offensive and defensive players...
I think the lost 3 other starters too...
they were complaining that the turf was "sticky"...
I never heard of that...

Looked like a great game last night between King Pete and the Pats. I dozed off but saw the end. NE fans can take heart that Cam seems to be playing well. In that awful division, they are a shoe in for a division title. A better team without Shady this year.

Cam is the real deal, he deserved a better fate; amazing in that the Patriots do not have a legit FG kicker, Folk sucks.........had he made his FG last nigt and they did not have to go for two later on as a result, it would have been 35-34 and late FG wins it.

Why McDaniels did not attack the Seahawks secondary with their two starting safeties out was beyond me, Cam shredded that defense for about 400 yards regardless.......

that was a good game...
down to the wire they just ran out of time...
NE and Seattle is turning into a great rivalry...
lots of games going down to the last play...
Cam has been impressive...
Edelman is a God...
I know Brady misses him...

Dallas plays Seattle on the road next week...

Wow, this is getting more interesting ratings wise - Thursday night still down from last year, but week 1 to 2 was the same. Sunday night....................down again, more from last week. Not even what is arguably a marquee match up could help. Is this a trend? Does the NFL even care?

NBA ratings on a side note are in the toilet but I guess that is ok b/c LeBron's comment on everything and every question asked him lately has the general FU theme to it. He doesnt care as I guess he has made his money and in his words F everyone else.

Point being, great attitude from institutions that the last time I checked rely on popularity and ratings. If you po all of your fans, eventually you don't have either, but who am I to say that, I am one of the former "lowly" fans. Are we in America that stupid to put faith in these egos on steroid idiots? I am having a hard time finding it even remotely entertaining anymore. I have a problem watching and supporting an institution who seemingly regards their base as expendable. You know the old adage, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.............

I think ratings for most sports events have been declining for some time. Although all the recent politics may have turned some people off, I doubt it is a significant factor in that decline. In fact, if politics was a motivating factor in sports ratings, then presumably there would be as many new viewers as lost viewers as the country is pretty evenly split on most issues. I'm all for taking politics out of sports but that includes both sides of the discussion. As in politicizing the ratings. I can watch and enjoy these games without agreeing with the opinions of those of who play them.

I don’t think anyone expects pro sports will go away. There’s too many couch potatoes in this country for that to happen. But many would like if sports became a much less important part of our society. If folks spent their time engaging in sports, rather than sitting on their lard a**** watching them, wed see health care costs plummet.
I was watching pro football up until this year. Now, no longer. I don’t keep up with the scores or players stats. I just don’t care - despite having purchased a 75 inch TV earlier this year :)

If roughly half of America becomes anti pro sports, the other half will notice! Owners will see team values plummet and advertisers will flee, or demand major rate decreases. When players salaries and endorsement opportunities drop sharply, players will notice. Big time collegiate sports programs would get crunched too.

Watching sports on TV is not a macho or productive activity. It’s for the docile, the obese and the passive. It accomplishes nothing for the watcher. It transfers power and wealth to those who play the game, or are otherwise directly involved, from the passive watcher.

Of course there will always be jock sniffers and sycophant types who believe an athlete can be a “God”. Have at it. The rest of us appreciate the lack of competition for gyms and gym equipment, hiking trails and the like.

don't abandon the ship so quick...
I just read that Garrapolo only has a mild ankle sprain and is likely to play this Sunday...
Bosa...not so good...

The NHL playoffs are up 11% compared to 2019.

The one thing I’ve learned about the NFL this year is that there are limitless options when it comes to highlights and/or the availability consolidated games.

Speaking of Bosa - I didnt know that he was the great grandson of Tony Accardo aka Joe Batters, bodyguard to Al Capone and eventual Mob Boss of Chicago for Six Decades (he never spent a night in jail). Not bad for a guy with a sixth grade education. To put it into perspective, AL Capone ruled Chicago for 6 years., Joe Accardo - 60 years until his death in 1992 at age 86. Fascinating, imagine the history he lived through, too bad he didn't write a book. I would bet it would have some eye opening accounts in it.

Anyhow, I just finished a Amazon documentary and they made mention of this at the end, I didn't know it and found it interesting.

Gale Sayers, the Kansas Comet, has passed away at the age of 77, he was suffering from dementia.

R.I.P. Gale, you and Brian are back together again..........

What a runner he was. Best I ever saw until that knee injury. I grew up in the 60's and feel lucky I was able to see such backs as Jim Brown and Gale Sayers. RIP, Gale, you were the best. -- Al

There is a video floating around showing the Chefs holder for FG's reach down after the game winning kick vs the Chargers and pick something up off the ground.

Come to find out he marks the hold spot with a coin, so in effect, the ball is placed on top of the coin.

Hmmm; pretty sure that's illegal as it's a form of a tee.

Holy ****, can you imagine if that was the Patriots; there goes another 5 million dollar Ted Wells investigation, losing another first round draft pick, Belichick fined another million bucks and their 6 SB trophies taken away.

But the Chefs or any other team pulls crap like that and it's all "nothing to see here"......................

George:

I would think that by now you’d realize that it is only cheating when the Patriots do it. If and when other teams do something suspicious (especially the Chiefs) it is simply creative ways to win.

That's for the clarification; how silly of me.....................

This ongoing oppression of the Pats has moved me to request social justice. I'm suggest we all wear "Free Belicheat" t shirts. They will cost $59 and can be purchased at the local massage parlor. Kraft has agreed to be "on hand" to sell them. That is all.

Kraft is not going to be prosecuted, so once again the Patriots got away with cheating.

I have to hand it to him, money buys good lawyers; either that or those hayseeds in Florida bungled the case.

I thought for sure Goodell was going to dock another first round draft pick and suspend Belichick; hey, one guy ****s up, everyone has to pay.
