N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (2 Viewers)

Zach...
in my opinion...agreed...

Cam's stats were not the best...
especially his INT ration to TD's...
but he did win some games...
so yea...maybe draft or sign a new QB and let him watch and learn for a year...
I would guess Cam would have to do something really off the chart to grab the $6 million in incentives...

George...

again...agreed...
new system...learning curve...shaking off the rust...lack of receivers...
can't blame him for everything...

NE needs to address wide receivers...
a slot receiver can't be your deep threat or best receiver...
that's an issue they need to address....

I like the move; last year he had no mini camp, no real training camp, no preseason games, had to learn an entirely new offense, then he got COVID, he also had hot garbage around him at the TE and WR positions, his one decent target Edelman only played four games, their schedule last year was brutal and despite all that, they still won 7 games, had fourth and goal at the 1 in Seattle and Cam fumbled on the 12 as they were driving for the possible winning TD, or at least a tie with a FG vs Buffalo............yeah, I know, if's and but's, but still............

Realistically, what are their options; Spinach chinned 38 year old Fitzpatrick, a tomato can bust in Mariotta, trading for Garappolo who can't stay on the field?

Who knows what will shake out, but they probably are not done at the QB position, we'll see who they draft.

Put some decent talent around the man, let him settle in for a second year in their system and we'll see what develops.

I can't get all worked up over this, I love the guy as a personality, he kept his mouth shut last year and did what he could..........................

That seems optimistic. Cam was a hot mess last year. I agree that he didn't have much help, but it's unlikely he gets a lot more help this season. He looked old, tired, and operating on the far side of the moon. If the plan is to draft a young QB and have Cam available to play until the new QB is ready, then that might work as a long term plan. But no way do the Pats make any kind of run with Cam as the QB next season.

Cam preCOVID was very good vs Miami, Seattle and the Raiders, specifically Seattle, he lit them up....................and COVID knocks the **** out of some people for a long time, Jason Tatum of the Celtics had it and he can't put the basketball in the ocean from the beach right now.

I understand what you are saying, but I highly doubt Belichick and McDaniels said "Yeah look, let's sign him for another year and give him a contract that if he meets all his incentives, he'll make 14 million bucks because afterall, he's toast and he sucks".............not to mention, I have no idea what the plan is, will he be a back up to come in and run the wildcat on certain plays, or will he be the starter............the clock is ticking and they are running out of options.

The fans here are going ****house over this, I don't get the angst; if they hadn't won a SB in 20 years, then fine, but talk about spoiled................this team as a fan owns me nothing, I can tolerate a few losing seasons, I don't get worked up about sports like I used to, it's mindless entertainment, I've said it before and I'll say it again.......................my life is no better or worse if my team wins or loses a championship, it's a temporary high when they win, a temporary low when they lose..............then the next day, the sun comes up and life goes on.

Meanwhile the Chiefs released both of their starting tackles due to salary cap issues.

The same tackles that missed the Super Bowl causing Mahomes to run for his life during that game.

Drew Brees is retiring..............................he stunk in the playoffs last year, it was time for him to go.

So now Tompa Bay will waltz to the NFC South title; Seattle, LA, Green Bay and San Francisco are the only legit threats they have regarding a return trip to the SB.

Maybe swap the Bears with Seattle if Wilson goes there as is being reported.

I hate to see him retire...
but he is getting old...
I'm gonna miss him...
he was a class act...

I wouldn't go as far as to say he stunk in the playoffs...

eliminated in their second round...
he did have a bad game against TB in the playoffs though...3 INT's...

but so did every top tier QB that played against TB in the playoffs...
Brees...Rogers and Mahomes...
they all had bad games...

you might be crowning TB a little early...
I remember you saying it was an automatic repeat for KC this year...
until TB made Mahomes stink and knocked them out...

here's a guy that just became a free agent that could really help a lot of teams...
especially the Cowboys dismal secondary...
23 career INT's...

Casey Hayward Jr...

My crystal ball doesn't predict injuries; BOTH of KC's starting tackles were out of the game, tackles are the most vital linemen for pass protection, Mahommes was running for his life without them.............

George...
I can't ever remember an O-line that so was ineffective in pass protection...
it was brutal the way they abused Mahomes...
absolutely unbelievable...
I know he sat in the jacuzzi for 3 days after that game...

Mike,
I've never seen anything like it, he ran backwards further than he did forwards..........literally running for his life.

George...

the Patriots were busy today...

As the saying goes, it's not my money............but wow, this is nuts.

They signed two WR's, a TE, a nose tackle, an edge rusher and a CB/Safety.................their whole offense has changed in the blink of an eye.

They had a ton of cap space, mainly because their drafts have been awful, so they don't have any top end talent coming to the end of their rookie deals.

Rumors are swirling they are looking to move their first round pick this year and next year to the Lions, then draft Justin Fields.

If that happens..........................holy smokes.

These moves have to be leading to drafting a QB for the pats? Right?

From what I'm hearing, yes.

As of now, they don't need any offensive linemen, RB's, TE's, WR's, Secondary/CB's/Safeties or linebackers, maybe a Defensive tackle or end, but I think they are moving up to take a QB.

not sure Fields be available with Detroit's #7 pick...
maybe have to trade with another team with a higher pick in the draft...

are they gonna miss Thuney that bad?

and yea...they need wide receivers...

Well they sure don't need a tight end now do they??............^&grin

They went from hot garbage at WR and TE to holy smokes in less than 24 hours.

Two tight end sets, mauling the other team on the ground, ball control, carving up the middle of the field, incredible what they have done to improve the team.

We'll see what they do during the draft at QB...........................either that or they are all in on Cam.

That could be a mistake, but they know better than I do.

The Bears went from being in the running for Wilson to settling for.....................Andy Dalton....................good lord.

Chicago supposedly offered Seattle three first round picks, a third round pick, and two other players! But Seattle said no. That's a deal I would have taken in a heartbeat. Six NFL caliber players for an aging NFL QB who was mediocre last year, unhappy, and has only a couple good seasons left in him.
