N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

Watson is 25 years old stud...
in his prime...
he's the prize in the box of Cracker Jacks...
his stats are in the top 5...
that's with a crap offense that traded away his best receiver last year (Deondre Hopkins)...
and on a team with no defense...

NE's not gonna be very good for what appears to be a long time...
not true...
NE's gotta start rebuilding somewhere...

what does NE have to offer...
the same as any other team...
$$$$$

If you're Watt, at his age, would you come here based on the fact that as of today, they have no QB, a bunch of JAGS at WR and TE, a depleted RB corp, virtually no front 7 and a secondary that is long in the tooth at safety and who's best cover corner has knee issues?

This team had a great run; the run is over.................................and it's going to be ugly around here for a long time, Belichick as Doug said may do an exit stage left and bail on this team and go elsewhere.

George...

you're talking about JJ Watts I think...

I'm talking about Deshaun Watson...

Not sure if Watson can dictate where he ends up, but if he does.........again, New England is no longer an attractive destination.

If he comes here, the offensive talent around him is arguably worse than what it was in Houston, I can't see him being excited about throwing to a bunch of #3, #4 WR's, a cooked Edelman in the slot and no TE talent to speak of...................

This team is just not very good.

Period.

Just heard a rumor that pats still like stidham. “An agent” - he wouldn’t say who he reps other then it was a QB - said he spoke with pats and they are “happy with what they have”.
I have a hard time believing this, but there you have it.

Yeah me too; if he couldn't beat out the corpse of Cam Newton..............plus when he did play last year, he sucked.

If he is the guy, they are truly screwed.

I like JJ Watt, a lot.

The guy is a great talent on the field and his dedication to the local community off the field rises to hockey player levels.

At the same time he has been in the league since 2011, his time is running out, he has made over $100 million in paid salary (actual money made) and he wants to win a Super Bowl.

He will probably sign with Kansas City or more likely Green Bay.

Jason....

Houston loooooooves them some JJ Watts...
you see his jersey everywhere around Galveston too...
his $100,000 million dollar salary probably pales in comparison to his commercial endorsement money...
like him or not...Watts is a God around Houston...
has more air time on local tv doing commercial endorsements than Biden does...^&grin

the McNair family treated him right...
instead of using him for trade fodder...
they just released him as he requested...
a classy move...
now he can get a new contract immediately with no stipulations...

after Hurricane Harvey destroyed (flooded) Houston a few years back...
he started a fundraiser with a goal of $200.000...
he ponied up with $100,000 of his own money...
and ended up raising over $41 million to help Houston flood victims...
that's a lot of money...

deserved and won the Walter Payton man of the year award...
yes...Houston loves them some JJ Watts...
I wish him the very best...
he kept clean nose...has a fully committed work ethic...a great guy and force to be reckoned with when healthy...

recovering from injuries...he was still productive with 5 sacks this year...that's done with an absolute horrible defense...
at 31 years old...I think he has quite a few years left if he stays healthy...
the man plays with a big heart...

I would love to see Pittsburgh get him...
him and his brother TJ would be a wrecking crew on a pass rush...

his other brother...Derek...is a fullback for Pittsburgh...
I'm pretty sure 3 brothers have never been on the same NFL team before...

Green Bay is making cap space, I think he will end up playing for the Packers.

I will root for him no matter where he plays, like me, he isn’t a native Texan but he loves this state and he is dedicated to it.

Watson and Watts would look good in a Redskin uniform. I'll give Danny boy a call... {sm3} -- Al

Most recent buzz has Watt going to Cleveland. That's a bit surprising to me but they have salary cap space and are a playoff caliber team. Watt and Garrett will be a brutal combo. I'm very surprised that the Steelers fell off the radar with Watts. That seemed like a natural fit but maybe the $'s are not there. It's not over till it's over though. TN, Green Bay, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh could still have a chance.

[h=1]Texas freeze allows Jerry Jones’ natural gas company to “hit jackpot”[/h]Posted by Charean Williams on February 17, 2021, 9:51 PM EST

Jerry Jones...and the rich keep getting richer...

As many as 4 million Texans have had no power during the historic winter weather experienced by the state this week. As of Wednesday night, 7 million in the state had water issues with either boil notices or no water at all.

Fingers are pointing. Pipes are bursting. Homes are flooding. Grocery store shelves are emptying. Gas pumps are drying. Nerves are fraying.
The Insurance Council of Texas said insurers are expecting the winter storm of 2021 to become the costliest weather event in the history of the state, topping Hurricane Harvey.
So how, you ask, does this relate to pro football? Glad you asked.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones owns a Frisco-based natural gas producer that is cashing in on a surge in prices for the fuel, Bloomberg reports.
The billionaire owns Comstock Resources Inc., which has sold gas from its Haynesville Shale wells in East Texas and northern Louisiana at premium prices the past week. Demand has led to gas prices at some regional hubs to soar past $1,000 per million British thermal units, according to Bloomberg.
“This week is like hitting the jackpot with some of these incredible prices,” Chief Financial Officer Roland Burns said on an earnings call Wednesday, via Bloomberg. “Frankly, we were able to sell at super premium prices for a material amount of production.”
That seems good news for Jones, who, two years ago, had a total investment of $1.1 billion in Comstock. His oil and gas company has become the leading producer in one of the nation’s largest natural gas basins.
Jones would make many in the state happy by using some of that money to sign quarterback Dak Prescott to a long-term deal sooner than later. He would even have enough money left over to upgrade to a better bottle of celebratory wine at Target.

a feel good story...

I have mentioned this guy before...

Mattress Mac...

the furniture mogul in Houston...
that makes these multi million dollar bets on the Super Bowl to cover his...
"if so in so wins...the cost of the furniture you bought during our promotion will be 100% refunded to you" gimmick...

he opened his store doors to the needy...hungry and helpless without power or water for refuge...
to 1,000's of people he boarded and fed for a few days...
really good guy...
Houston loves him...
hell of a gesture...
he did the same thing through the floods a few years back...

I'm sure he is selling stuff as he lets them eat and sleep there...
but a hell of a gesture on his part to help...

https://abcnews.go.com/US/mattress-...ls Texas, when Hurricane Harvey struck Houston.

Carson Wentz was basically given to Indianapolis yesterday...
Philly had to swallow 33 million in "dead money" on the trade...
the biggest dead money loss on a player ever in the NFL...

Indy only gave up a second and a third for him...
I guess they are really hoping to draft a QB this year...
I think they pick 6th this year...
so they may need to trade up to get who they really wanted...
but there are a lot of QB's projected to go in the 1st round...

I'm not a fan of Philly as Dallas is in the East...
so I'm sorry to see Wentz leave...

I am not knocking Pittsburgh as they are a storied franchise that has epitomized class forever.

However, their handling of Big Ben is nothing short of embarrassing.

He has publicly said he would return for the league minimum etc., yet their GM has used the passive aggressive approach when mentioning his future.

I grant you his 11-0 start didn’t end well, but 11-5 is still better than any number that their current rostered QB’s will produce.

Roethlisberger simply deserves better.

I think the Jets remain the most fascinating team when it comes to the draft.

They have a young QB in Darnold that has shown interest in the trade market and they have the No. 2 overall pick.

Aaron Rodgers, Russel Wilson and DeShaun Watson are all in the headlines because they are all disgruntled QB’s.

Besides the fact that they all seem to want their respective teams to sign more offensive talent the other thing they all have in common is the fact that they all eat up the majority of their teams’ cap space.

Jason...
you might as well throw Dak in there too..
the Cowboys and him have argued the length of his contract for several years now...
they want 5 years...
Dak only wants 4...so he can renegotiate a new heftier contract while he is in his prime sooner...

last year they played him on the tag and paid him 31.4 million...pretty cheap really...

but if a new contract can't be worked out...
and he is tagged again this year...the Cowboys pay 37.7 million...

if a new contract is still not resolved by next year (2022)...
his tag goes up to 54 million a year...

if Jerry wants to keep him...
he better offer a 4 year contract like Dak wants...
this is for a guy that missed 11 games last year with a bone sticking out of his ankle...

Mike:

Great post.

Rodgers and Wilson won their lone Super Bowls before they signed their massive, cap eating contracts.

I certainly understand that quarterback is the most important position in football, at the same time this isn’t an individual sport like tennis or golf. It takes a team and if 1 or 2 players takeup the majority of your budget there is no way you can compete.

Watt to the Cardinals? Weird. And he thought Houston was a mess. I guess he doesn't want to win a SB. That's a real head scratcher. Maybe he likes the warm weather.

That contract is a disaster waiting to happen.

Anyone who says "So and so is going to end up in Green Bay, he'll take less money but has the best shot at getting ring" is out to lunch; most of these guys only care about who's going to pony up the most dough...................is he honestly going to say he went to Arizona as they in his opinion are a Super Bowl contender?

And yeah, I get it, you can't begrudge a guy for taking the most money, blah, blah, blah.............but who's ****ting who.
