N.F.L. Season 2018-19 (1 Viewer)

Can't make too much of week one under the circumstances. No preseason, teams looked a bit rusty but the Bills look surprisingly good. They may finally give the Pats some competition in that awful division. A big test for the Pats against Seattle this week. My Rams were a mixed bag. The D and O-line looked much improved but Goff is still shaky. They reconfigured the entire offense to cover for his inability to make plays under pressure. Now it is mostly quick throws. Wentz is also really stinking it up with the Eagles. They somehow blew a 17-0 lead over the Deadskins. What a pathetic sight the Deadkins are under Dirty Danny. They don't even have a name or symbol to put on their helmets. A smoldering ruin of management (second only to the NY Knicks as the absolute worst in all professional sports) but some good young players.
Watching Dan Snyder destroy a proud franchise that once fielded some of the NFL's best teams has been one of the most depressing things I have witnessed in terms of sports. A well-oiled machine under Cooke and Gibbs is now a laughing stock with no real hope to turn it around as long as Danny-boy is the owner. The Colts leaving Baltimore and Snyder buying the Redskins have equaled disaster for this former NFL fan. Oh well. -- Al

The best thing that ever happened to that franchise is him getting hurt in 2017, Folsie steps in, catches lightning in a bottle and pulls a SB win out of his backside, then he moves on and signs a massive contract................and has done absolutely JACK since.

He couldn't beat out some bozo in Jacksonville with a 70's porn mustache or "Crazy legs" Tribshitsky in Chicago, but he played the game of his life in the Super Bowl vs the Patriots.

Absolutely unbelievable.

The week one power rankings are out; really? Why bother after one week?

No shock the Chefs and the Browns are 1 and 2 in the AFC; aside from them, the only other legit AFC team is Pittsburg, they have an elite defense and if Ben is healthy, they are right there. The rest of the conference is meh............................bringing up the rear is the Jets and the other Browns, the ****show Cleveland got stuck with when the real Browns skipped town...............

In the NFC, The Jints and the Lions bring up the rear, the Lions are 9-23 since they hired fatso away from the Patriots; funny, our defense has gotten better since that oaf left, one of those nine wins was vs New England the year the Patriots beat the Rams in the Super Bowl. The Saints and Seattle are the top two teams in the NFC, that conference is somewhat more competitive that then AFC with the 49ers and Green Bay in the mix too.

Dallas is Dallas; just about mediocre for the 100th year in a row.

Oh and Father Time 1, Tompa Bay 0, but hey, at least Brady and Gronkowski are having fun now vs playing for that big meanie Belichick, what a game by Gronk yesterday, played 77% of the snaps, 1 catch, 2 yards, I guess getting good designer roids during COVID is hard.......................

Fox's NFL ratings were up from week 1 last year. 25 million people watched the Saints and Tampa Bay. I think as the season goes on, as long as it's not derailed by Covid, the ratings will keep going up. I could not care less what goes on during the national anthem. I love football and will always watch. Watching the Steelers hold Saquon Barkley to 6 yards on 15 carries brought back memories of the mid 70s Steeler defenses. A lot of interesting stories this year. Hell, I'm even interested with what Belichick can do with Cam Newton.

25 million sounds about right; 10 million in the New England states to see how Tompa Bay did, 5 million in Louisiana to see how the Saints did, 9,999,990 around the country out of curiosity and the 10 Tompa Bay fans.

Via Bloomberg:

"Football fans just want to watch Tom Brady. TV audiences slumped for the first weekend of the NFL season, except for Sunday's matchup on Fox featuring Brady with his new team, the Buccaneers. That game drew 25.8 million viewers, the highest opening weekend for the network in four years. Every other one saw a drop in numbers. The Cowboys' game against the Rams on NBC, for example, delivered 19.6 million viewers, down 14% from the year before."

The Cowboys/Rams game would have delivered more viewers, but one look at those hideous Rams uniforms drove away people by the millions.

Those things are a cross between a tire fire and a train wreck; what color are they exactly? White/grey/light blue......................and that logo on the helmet is horrendous.

Those morons need to look no further than the team that's going to share that billion dollar palace with them; the Chargers...............tremendous uniform that goes back to their AFL days.....................leave to the Rams to take a simple thing like a dark blue helmet with white ram logos and a dark blue and white jersey with white pants but instead turn it into an episode of "Ballers".............................has to be their coaches idea, he of those skinny legged pants that look more like nylons than pants, no wonder Wade Phillips retired, imagine that whale trying to shoehorn himself into those things..........................

I do like watching the new dealings of Brady and Belichick.

Brady is being openly criticized in the press by Arians rather than hearing “we are onto Carolina” from his head coach.

Belichick is having to get used to a player that wears clothes louder than any response or non-response that a player could give. I can’t wait for Cam to tell the press about a specific injury he has.

And please don’t get me started on Gronk. Where are those post game press conferences where he cracks jokes and acts like it is a stand up routine?

Yes, those unis were reviled by Rams fans. They look like rejects from the XFL. My guess is they were designed for a younger crowd than us old geezers. At the very least, they should wear the blue uniforms at home as those aren't quite so bad. They claimed it took Nike a couple of years to design them but I saw fan designs from teenagers that were much better. We live in a golden age of Idiocracy. It could be worse. Washington doesn't even have a team name or logo. They will soon be playing in their underpants under Dirty Danny.

Nike designed those?

Thanks for solving the mystery.

It's a shame, going back to their home, to me it's a no brainer to go retro, but for all I know, the new jerseys are selling like mad to the younger crowd.

Shady is surrounded by sycophants and believes himself immortal. No one will tell him otherwise. He probably thinks the Bucs will win three SB's with him as QB. He has already stayed on too long. I'm almost feel sorry for him. He probably ends his career with an injury on an 8-8 team. Belicheat isn't a winner due to loyalty, friendship, or being a nice person. He saw Brady's declining performance and sent him packing.

Father time is undefeated.

Always has been, always will be.

I enjoyed how every network on Thursday night tried to make it seem like the Browns and/or the Bengals are the next Super Bowl Champions.

The only thing worse than contrived competition (The NBA) is the made up potential of bottom feeding teams.

So no social distancing rules in place in Ohio then huh?

Those fans were on top of each other.

Imagine the Patriots had a choice between Chubb and Michel and they took Michel?

What a colossal screw up........they might have dominated the league for 30 years instead of 20.

There were videos of fans fighting each other in the stands.

No doubt Browns fans fighting with Chiefs fans since last Thursday the NFL experts claimed that the 2020 Chiefs were the greatest team ever, then this Thursday they changed course and declared the 2020 Browns the best ever.

About 1.5 weeks into the season and wow are there some brutally bad teams this year.

That whatever the Redskins are called these days might win the NFC East and 6-10 might do it.

The Iggles a tire fire, the Jints are a dumpster fire and Dallas................well they are and always will be the Cowboys.

Cowboys are a joke...

1st 3 offensive possessions...
lost a fumble all 3 times...

4th offensive possession...
turnover of 4th down...

down 20-0 before my nachos were ready...
and then I wasn't hungry...^&grin

everything that could of gone wrong...went wrong...

George,
I think it's the Foreskins now but not sure.

Joe

It is only week 2 and the Niners have lost 3 starting defensive linemen, their starting running back and their starting quarterback to various injuries.
