Prussians would be good but people forget that more than a third of Wellington's 70 000 men were Germans from non-Prussian states. Perhaps someone could depict some of these brigades.

I think it was more like 45% of Ol Wellington's troops that were German, 20% Dutch and Belgians with 35% being labeled as "British" not to mention that the Scottish and Irish are included in that " British " 35% . Oh and of course you can't forget the 53,000 Prussians who showed up to spoil Napoleons day :wink2: so I think it would be safe to say that at Waterloo the Germans from all states had a big part in the Victory ^&grin .. thank GOD for First Legion who are giving more then just Brits and French some coverage ..Regards Gebhard

Gebhard you are so right. When you count the "boys in blue" serving under the most famous "Gebhard" of all time, Wellington would have been in a bit of of bother at Waterloo without his German forces and Prussian allies.

It was just a question of numbers. Without the allies, the British were obviously heavily outnumbered. Wellington's Army of the Peninsula would have done just fine, were they still available. No question the numerous German soldiers in the British army were a major contribution. I would love to have some KGL of all types.

They are certainly colorful enough and I am sure Matt is not done with the Russian campaign. That painting is great overall even though the horse's position is rather unlikely to say the least. That particular mistake shows up in a number of the Napoleonic paintings of that type; the artists must have had the same anatomy teacher.

This thread is just too good to let slide down the list , Just encase somebody missed this one the first time around :salute:::redface2: Blücher Bitte Best regards Gebhard

We should send Matt this picture 24" X 36"

How about this one my friend :wink2: I'm just hoping that when and if First Legion produce a Blücher he will be Mounted and in a action pose that will do justice to this Brave great man :salute:::salute:: regards Gebhard

Saxon cavalry gets my vote. We have a good representation of foot soldiers of the German armies. Time todo cavalry. And I like yellow .... :p
