Matt...you are an "artist" at embellishing and distorting the facts...spin it anyway you want...Auerbach only won 9 Championships as a coach...only 9...you're now crediting Auerbach with an additional 7 wins when he was not the coach and then another 7 more from the grave...with your math...I can only reply with the quote from Wikipedia...I put the link here so you can see I'm not embellishing...no twist on this quote...open it and read it yourself...it says he won 9 as a coach...any other rings came from another coach...does Auerbach get credit for all of them...
You seemed to count Phil's two as a player in your reference to 12 rings, no? Auerbach won 9 in 10 years as coach and then retired after having won 8 straight. That's not spin really, that's just a fact. As it is a fact that Phil has won 10. So, yes, Phil has won the most. I don't recall saying otherwise.
see the last 5 words..."SURPASSED ONLY BY PHIL JACKSON"...
Again, never said he wasn't. My point was only that Auerbach won his titles by the time he was 48 and retired and had he coached until he was 65 he could have won many more. I thought we were talking about who was a better coach? If Phil's 10 to Red's 9 make him a better coach in your book, then this conversation needn't continue!
I don't care if he won them all in a row or over a hundred year span...he won 9 as a coach...Phil won 10...why can't you just admit it...
Admit it? Who is denying it....ready...Phil Jackson has won more titles as a coach than other coach in NBA history. How's that? Now, the follow up - Phil Jackson is the second best coach in NBA history.
you credit Michael Jordan for all Phil's wins...but you neglect to mention that the string of wins by Auerbach had 6 Hall of Famers led by Bill Russell on those teams...
Every team that wins a title has great players on them. Only one team had the best player ever on it.
talk about a stacked deck...6 Hall of Famers on one single team...
And not a league leading scorer in the lot of them!
the 1956-1967 Dynasty years...Boston was so packed with talent...I'm amazed they ever lost a game...
And who was the architect of that talent? Who built the team? Hmm...I wonder. Like I said, Phil inherited his championship teams, a point you seem to ignore.
6 Hall of Famers...pretty convenient that you left that out...but Auerbach gets all the credit while poor Phil gets none with his "one man team" of Michael like you say...
Why do you constantly say that Phil gets NO credit? No one said that! I already said he's the second best coach in NBA history. Yet you somehow find that insulting to him!

And Boston may have had six future hall of famers on the team, though no doubt many of the lakers and Celtics teams of the 80's had their fare share of future hall of famers on them and I don't rank their coaches better than Phil or Red.
you think Auerbach would have won any rings without that crew he had...
Sigh....like i said, every championship teams have great players on them. But there's only one Michael Jordan.
how come Jordan gets props and not Phil for the Chicago rings...
Well, because Jordan was the greatest player ever, Phil is only the 2nd greatest coach!

Seriously though, in my opinion the coaches probably get too much credit as it's the players who are out on the court. However, a huge aspect of coaching is building the right team and I've yet to see that from Jackson (not saying he couldn't of course, he just hasn't really had to).
but Auerbach gets all the credit and not his 6 man Hall of Fame team...
On the contrary, i never said that Red gets the credit. I merely said that he gets more credit than Phil.
you would have made a good lawyer unless your opponent looked a little deeper into your arguements...
HA! Pot-kettle-black. You're not really listening to anything I'm saying, you're just making inference after inference of things I'm not saying and drawing your own conclusions and extrapolations! You just keep walking the party line (10 titles 10 titles) and not looking at anything beyond that!
"The Impossible" has finally happened...3-0 and dropping the ball 4 straight...it's enough to make you start drinking huh...I know you're reeling..."don't go on tilt"...hockey season is over...relish in the Celts and forget the past...
As long as it doesn't happen again! 3-1 now, so I'll relish the Celtics when they win one of the next 3 games! And I'll REALLY relish them if Doc knocks off King Phil again.
there's nothing really wrong with living in the past...just be honest to yourself...
Living in the past? Come on now, what city has won more titles in the last 10 years that Boston? No need to live in the past, the present has been fantastic!
cheer up man...you still got the second best coach in the history of the NBA...he had 9 wins...
Well, seeing as Red is the best, are you saying Doc is second? Hmm...I would put Phil second, not Doc, but hey if that's how you feel man.
