NBA/NHL playoffs (1 Viewer)

The Lakers are 7-0 at home and 3-4 on the road. During the regular season I can see how the home team might have the advantage of not traveling, but in the playoffs the same teams play in a 4-7 game series making the same trips. I bet the home team averages nearly a double-digit FT advantage on most nights in the playoffs.

You're right...but the team with the best record has "home court"...

4 at home...3 on the road...

the old adage is..."You got to win your home games"...

Dang...Magic were literally out for blood tonight...

Howard is like a bull in a china shop...he's too physical in the paint...

Big Baby's seeing stars...
Marquis Daniel's has a concussion too...according to Yahoo...
Rondos hurting...

I think when he's made his mind up and has his game face on...he's just too strong and too atheletic...

I don't like this "technical rescind" rule...

sometimes the refs need to take control of the game...

this game was physical...people were literally getting knocked out in this game...

they need to establish order and control...

respect is mandatory...you can't embarrass a referee and get away with it...

I have lived with this through football season...you get a bad call...you live with it...

there is no "rescind review" in other sports...there is an "instant replay"...but they don't use it for showing up the referee...you belittle a referee's decision...you pay the price...

Perkins has a history of T's...his 7th in the Playoffs so far...sometimes you are what you create...your reputation creates your future...

the biggest objection seems to be...since Perkins is a star...lets rescind the call that we made...because it's the playoffs...

I don't think they would be having this discussion if it was a regular season game...

I don't like this "technical rescind" rule...

If the techs are not rescinded...how will they defend Howard in game 6...

Boston is looking tired and beat up, but I think they still win this at home. Orlando is a dangerous team though because they can shoot the three on any given night like no one else. The NBA rule or rules on technical fouls is a joke. Soon each team will need an attorney on the court to figure out the various issues and appeals. I'll take the old days when players like McHale would closeline a guy. Sooner or later he would get payback with an elbow to the head or takedown. I can't remember any player suffering a major injury from that type of play. The flagrant foul business and adding up technical foul points is ridiculous PC. I would rather see them play with intensity and sort it out on the court.

If Boston doesn't win Game 6...I think Orlando will also win Game 7...

If the Lakers don't win tonight...I think Phoenix will win in Game 6.

A Phoenix-Orlando series would be a major disappointment. It doesn't seem likely though. The Lakers should take of business tonight at home.

The NBA would commit hari-kari if the finals are Orlando-Phoenix. It would be a tv ratings disaster. Either Boston or LA have to get into the finals for anyone but relatives to watch. On the NHL side of things, I am glad to see Chicago in the finals. They were the team I used to follow back when ther were only 6, then 12 teams. NHL finals should be entertaining. -- Al

The NBA got what they wanted last night; game 6, more money, everyone is happy.

If you want to tank a game, send Ed Rush to referee it.

TWENTY TWO non shooting fouls on the Celtics.

TWENTY TWO ticky tack, BS calls.

Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles could see this was a bag job from jump.

You want to beat the Celtics; throw fouls at the guy who paces their defense, KG and the the guy who paces the offense, Rondo.

BOTH had two fouls before you could blink an eye, both on the bench, Magic take control of the game.

The NBA is so corrupt it's sickening.

The Celtics will get the calls, no more illegal pics by the Magic, game over, series over, on to the finals.

The Lakers will not lose at home, series over, on to the finals.

Celtics/Lakers, bank on it..................

George,
I hope you are right, but I hate to say I feel like the Lakers and the Celtics are playing like they have a right to be in the finals. The difference, the Celtics won 3 and you would think can win 1 of the next 2 without issue. The Lakers, on the other hand, went to sleep and they will be in a dogfight to win 2.

Just my opinion, but I think the "sleeping" giants on the Magic and Suns have woke up!

Tom,
I agree with you and Mike in that Van Gundy made adjustments after game 3 that are paying big dividends to the Magic, they've looked like a totally different team the past two games.

The Celtics should have stepped on their throat and put them away in game 4, instead they allowed them to get up off the canvas and now it's a series.

As others have pointed out, Magic/Suns; friends and family aside, nobody will tune it to that series...............

This is a joke...

too much "star's favoritism" for TV ratings...this is a bad precedent...

BOSTON (AP)—Boston’s Kendrick Perkins will be eligible to play in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Orlando Magic.

The NBA said Thursday that one of the two technical fouls Perkins received in Game 5 was rescinded. That means Perkins hasn’t hit the mark of seven technicals in the playoffs that would lead to an automatic suspension.

Perkins was called for the first technical when he elbowed Marcin Gortat in the stomach. Replays showed Perkins’ arm merely slipped as he tried to help teammate Rajon Rondo up.

But it was the second technical that was rescinded by the league. Perkins got that one when he complained about a foul call in the second quarter.

The league said a foul committed by Paul Pierce in the fourth quarter was upgraded to a flagrant.

George..the overall fouls seemed pretty even...not sure about shooting and non-shooting fouls...

I thought the Magic had 24 fouls to Boston's 30...

Hack-a-Shaq on Howard added a few to Celt's total...at least 3-4...

which they called off after he made a pair...lol...

and then the "better to foul Howard in the paint than let him dunk" added to the Celt's total...

I thought Garnett only had 2 fouls the entire game????

Rondo 4????

Lakers laying 8 points tonight...after losing back to back roads by 9...

that's a lot of points to cover...

feel like playing the over at 217 1/2...

I think the Lakers get it done. If they lose this series after being up 2-0 it's not going to be pretty in Lakerland.

Whoever wins this game...wins the series...if they play with the energy and intensity of games 1 and 2...they could run the Suns out the building...both teams are too dominant at home...remember in Game 1...they pulled Nash early in the 4th quarter...I doubt they will have that defeatist attitude tonight...all the news stories say Kobe is pissed and pushing everybody for defense...Jackson has had another sit down with Bynum...I would look for a big effort from the tall guys...8 points is a lot...

:D:D:D...Lucker's very lakey tonight...:D:D:D

Bynum...7 foot tall...19 minutes...5 fouls...2 points...7 rebounds...

not a good stat when Kobe has second most team rebounds on team...

Bynum's a liability...

Ron Artest...2 for 9...and he won the game...defensive stats were okay but man...they have no bench at all...(cept Odoms)...and he could start for most teams...

sit Bynum...play Mbenga...rest Bynum til Finals...

on the other hand...dang Phoenix can hit them threes in spurts...

ps...Fisher is great...Nash is awesome!!!

You forgot Phil's contribution. Drawing up that air ball from Kobe into the hands of Artest for the winning basket. The guy is a genius. ;) Fisher and Odom played well. Bynum is hurt and probably doesn't want to be on the court. The Lakers got very lucky, but a win is a win.

Yes...great called play in the huddle...:rolleyes::rolleyes:...the greatest coach ever...:D:D:D...

Bynum said before the game...his knee was getting better...

okay...getting ready to hit the road is 30 minutes...San Antonio Toy Soldier Show this weekend...

ya'll keep it civil...

It's taken forever, but we are finally down to the Lakers and Celts. Should be a great series.

Now we have a final even I might look in on. Let me see, in head to head championship series, doesn't it stand Celtics 9, Lakers 2? I think the Celtics have 17 total championships to the Lakers 15. The battle for NBA bragging rights should be good. -- Al
