Finding it hard to get into this but the miracle of the DVR allowed me to watch the Lakers game last night. Not looking great for the Lakers. Injuries and the layoff seems to have made them rusty. Have to admit I was wrong about Dwight Howard. He looks in great shape and is playing hard. Can't say the same for anyone else on LA except LeBron. Those video fans are creepy and bizarrely the fake crowd noise made it almost impossible to hear the announcers.

Given the choice between the NHL playoffs and the NBA playoffs I’ll take the NHL, even if one of my 2 home teams, Golden State and San Antonio were in it.

The NBA is far to predicable.

Well, both the Lakers and Bucks as the #1 seed lost their first playoff games to #8 teams. So that wasn't very predictable. I think that has only happened once before.

Don't worry; once the commissioner finds out about this, he'll have a word with the refs to ensure it's Bucks/Lakers in the finals...…………...

It's about time! The Lakers haven't even been to the playoffs in seven years. Hard to believe. I can't remember the last time the Bucks made it to the finals. Maybe back in Big O and Lew Alcindor's day. One of these conspiracy theories eventually has to pan out. Other than Howard, LeBron and AD, I didn't recognize a single player on the Lakers team. I can remember knowing them all back in Magic's day. Who could forget Mark Landsberger? He couldn't run, jump, or shoot but won two NBA titles. The same number as Wilt Chamberlain.

It's the match up the league and the networks want; the old, fading face of the league vs the up and coming future face of the league.

Who else would the league/networks want...…………..Celtics....they have two very good players and a bunch of tomato cans...….the Raptors......they were handed a championship once already...………………..the Rockets or any other of the Washington Generals lining up to play the Lakers in the West?

Nope; it will happen, no worries...……………………..

No way the Blazers win the series and there is no way the Thunder win their series.

It will be #1 vs #1 or some variation involving a #2 seed. Seeds 3-8 have little hope of making it to the finals.

The Lakers got their first playoff win since 2012 last night! Unbelievable. Eight years. I guess the refs finally got that memo from the Commissioner that they are supposed to win. AD was a beast. He and LeBron look like men among boys even by NBA standards.

Wow, that's awesome, what a story, thanks for sharing.

I mean afterall, if the league is going to allow LeFraud to collude for a second time and rig the finals, it would go against script if they lose, think of how outraged you and the nine other people who actually still give a **** about the NBA would feel.

And AD has played in two playoff games and has yet to be injured; wow, what a miracle.

And have to give the NBA credit; those slogans on the backs of the uniforms is a nice touch, I'm sure all the woke people out there appreciate it...…………………...

George- don't you live in MA? And you are complaining about something being woke? I'm ignoring the NBA's political nonsense and just watching the games. I DVR them and watch in about 30 minutes. All those commercials are brutal. Does Beantown still have a basketball team? I'm sure they never got any calls. Don't knock it. Maybe there is a secret deal for the Lakers and Celts to make it to the finals.

What does living in MA have to do with anything?

If you live in a certain state, you have to automatically think the same way all the rest of the *******s who live here think?

Asking for a friend.

If the Celtics get to the finals by beating the 76ers, who everyone crowned as the Eastern Conference champs before the season started, the Raptors, who were gifted a title last year and the Bucks, the media darlings, they will have earned it vs the Lakers playing the march of the tomato cans out west.

Once the Warriors got dismantled and Unibrow demanded a trade to the Lakers, they were gifted a trip to the finals this year and for the forseeable future.

The NBA has this half assed opinion that fans like to see super teams waltz their way to the title demolishing a pack of stiffs on the way in the process.

IF the Celtics meet the Lakers in the finals, I won't watch two seconds of it, who wants to watch LeBron stick the ball under his arm, stiff arm his way to the basket and draw the foul 27 times a game and listen to that ballbag Mike Bream **** his pants in the process...….."AND HE DRAWS THE FOUL!!!!"...……….no thanks.

Being a Magic and Kareem fan since birth and then later embracing Kobe and Shaq......................................I just can't watch these Lakers, I hate to say it. I have not nor ever been a Lebron fan and it has nothing to do with his politics. I don't like arrogant sports big mouths. Shaq was different in that he was truly a fun loving guy who just like to play his own way and contrary to popular opinion, he worked like hell when it mattered and he is downright funny. AND I still cannot get over Shaq going to Cleveland to get Lebron his championship, IMO Playing his backside off and Lebron nowhere to be found when it mattered. That is when I wrote him off. And then he ended up at the Lakers, from this fan, no championship is worth having that guy on your team. There is only 1 GOAT in Pro Basketball - Michael Jordan. Sorry Lebron, you will always just be Lebron.

I don't get the logic that there is some sort of conspiracy to make the Lakers a super team when they haven't been to the playoffs in eight years. Eight years! This in a league where half the teams go to the playoffs. Even if it were true that there were no good teams out west (and it is not), how is that the Lakers fault? I would stick with Bigfoot and UFO conspiracies since there is more credible evidence in those instances. The Lakers aren't all that good. I wouldn't be surprised if they get beat by Houston or the Clippers. Go to Dunkin Donuts and relax.

I'm not a huge LeBron fan either but you have to give him his due. He is a man among boys out there on the court. I've never seen anything quite like him. He basically plays point guard. Imagine a guy of his size running the offense. It would be like Wilt Chamberlain bringing the ball up the court, dishing out assists, and drilling shots from the three point line. Is he Michael Jordan? Maybe not. But the last time I checked MJ was long retired. LeBron is still playing. Big difference. And he may not be the best player on that team. AD is a beast.

You don't get the logic?

Come on, you're a smart guy; NBA ratings are not very good, what better way to make them good again than to make the Lakers relevant again.

LeBron goes to the Lakers, then unibrow mysteriously demands a trade to the Lakers...………………….2+2=4.

This is not rocket science.

The Lakers are like the Yankees and the Cowboys; half the fans out there love them, the other half hate them.

At least they're not the Patriots; 99% of the fans hate them, 01% that live in New England love them.

Well, half of Connecticut, the other half love the New York Football Giants.

And Dunkin Donuts sucks, water flavored coffee.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Magic was, is and always will be my most favorite non Celtic ever.

Not even a close second exists.

He beat Bird in college and beat him two out of three times in the finals.

And I love the fact that they are friends, very, very good friends.

McHale and Rambis; not so much...………….Rambis' most iconic moment in his entire career is when McHale almost decapitated him, watching him blow a gasket in those horrible short shorts they wore in the 80's after McHale clotheslined is one of the most comical images ever in sports.

Took the Lakers right out of that series, they folded like a bunch of cheap suits after that...……………………...Kareem and Worthy talked a big game, but they did **** after that, the two of them.

Worthy hates the Celtics still to this day; tough **** James...……………...

The rivalries were worth the price of admission, I think in the end, they put on a great show and it was hard fought and some sour grapes, but they all won numerous times, so whats to complain, right? I for one loved those series, they were basketball to me and of course being between age 6 and 15 during those times, it was the greatest.

They all had sometimes begrudging respect and they were all class acts without question. You had to search to find a "bad apple". Now teams are full of them, and I hate that, just no class or at least maybe it is a class I don't understand. Heck, I am only 47 and sound like I am 80, but facts don't lie. Thank goodness for ESPN Classic and streaming, you can rewatch wonderful events that sure beat most of the current product.

No doubt he is a great player, can't take that away from him, nor will I try. That said, I just don't think he is as good as he thinks he is. Skill sets - Kareem, Chamberlain, Magic, Bird, Jordan, Kobe, to me he is just not at that level. I also think he has had a whole lot of lapses in his career where he didn't show up when it counted. It is hard to find those issues with the group I just named. Again, I know this is my opinion, right or wrong.

AD, he is a whole different player, to me, he looks like a Laker, plays like a Laker of old. I hope he sticks with it in LA and they build around him, I think he could have a Kareem, Shaq type career if the chips fall right. I would welcome watching him for many years.

I've been really impressed with LeBron's passing skills in this series. I never followed him that much in Cleveland but he is a wizard with the ball. His passing skills have either been underrated or I haven't been paying attention. He reminds me a lot of Magic in that regard. Remarkable for a guy of his size. Back in the 80s he would have been a power forward who posted guys up in the paint. Now those big guys can play like guards. Unbelievable talent. I do think the time has come to make some changes like moving the three point line back and raising the hoop. Just no way to defend the modern NBA player given their talent.

Sorry I can't add anything to this conversation. The last time I watched an NBA game was when the St louis Hawks won the championship in 1958.
