NBA Playoffs (2 Viewers)

I'm done with the NBA, NFL and MLB!

Why, because there isn't any escape from politics and people telling me what's important, how to think and who to hate!

This year, my family received full a refund on 2020 Dodger Season tickets and will not renew them for 2021...We've owned them since 1991...Went 4 spring training games until COVID Lockdown and watched first 3 games on MLB network in July...Until this BLM Collaboration (Please don't hurt me) campaign happened.

Yes, All Black Lives Matter, but anyone read what the organization stands for? BLM is a shield for something much larger (think "Trojan Horse")...Yes, it's been difficult not watching possibly the best team (Dodgers) in the majors this year...
sacrifices had to be made.

Also, I've been a huge LA Lakers fan since my childhood in mid 1960's...DONE, NO MORE!!!

There is no escape anymore from the insistent drum beat of tribalism...All I want is some healthy entertainment!?!?!

Sorry I can't add anything to this conversation. The last time I watched an NBA game was when the St louis Hawks won the championship in 1958.

This is tremendous...…………..good job...………..

Given the current political climate and pandemic, I think you are going to be hard pressed for any entertainment for the foreseeable future if you can't tune out the noise. A couple of years ago I stopped watching the NFL because of the National Anthem business but I won't allow a few publicity seeking athletes to ruin all sports for me. I'm going to ignore their antics and watch the games. Sports is a gigantic waste of time, however. So more power to anyone else who can find a more meaningful way to spend their time. Most of the hardcore sports fans that I see, however, will not be reading Chaucer or finding a cure for cancer in their spare time.

I have no problem with anybody protesting peacefully but wouldn't it be more helpful for high paid athletes and entertainers to donate a % of their income to feeding the poor and giving scholarships to deserving students?
Many are generous and go back into their communities to teach and motivate young people but they certainly can do more. Express your opinions and support organizations that work to promote equal opportunities.
Use your wealth and notoriety to set examples for young people and lobby for relevant legislation. This goes for athletes, entertainers and business leaders of all stripes.
While I respect their right to protest I just think it is often counter-productive and alienates some people to turn away from their cause.

Fortunately I have grandchildren who play sports and I enjoy watching them more than professional sports!

When they protest what the PRC and the CCP do, then I might have some respect for the NBA's players. Otherwise, LeBron et al, don't point out the mote in your brother's eye, without removing the beam from your own.

Great post. As a matter of fact, this is my nomination for post of the year. I wholeheartedly agree.

Just as an FYI, I found something more important and meaningful to me that the NBA lately:

A> Inventory and ordering of KCups for working at home.

B> Inventory and ordering of Pop Chips for working at home.

I have spent vastly more time over the last several months on the 2 items above than Sports. And I find a reward in every sip and bite!

The hypocrisy of the NBA is astounding when it comes to criticism of China. Of course China is a huge NBA market, so they are groveling not to offend anyone. With that said, the boycott and potential end to the season is a more rational (and in my opinion less offensive) form of protest than the kneeling business. It's exhausting and disappointing that there is no apparent escape from politics these days. It's all the more unfortunate that at a time of a national health crisis that professional sports couldn't provide some distraction to those people who have been impacted.

Last night LeBron and several other high profile players were rumored to be leaving the bubble, taking their ball and going home.

LeBron posted on social media at how outraged he is, enough is enough.

Today he changed his mind...………….who can blame him; if the NBA was willing to let him collude again and get Unibrow for next to nothing, the least he can do is keep playing and win himself another phony baloney championship.

What a gutless, sackless fraud.

Salty tears. I wish Shady or Belicheat could be with us here on the forum to provide moral guidance during these difficult times. The Lakers got AD for "next to nothing"? They only had to trade Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and three first-round picks. LOL.

The only legit player in that group of tomato cans is Ingram and we all know how valuable first round picks in the NBA are; after the 5th pick, it's a total tire fire and crap shoot, so slow your roll, that trade was a joke.

But hey, you and the nine other people who still give two ****s about the NBA, have a ball...……………….

His Chinese masters must have called him.

LeBron’s response to the China/Hong Kong protests was pathetic. Lest you think I am biased I felt the same about Steph Curry.

They both pathetically said they didn’t know enough about the situation to comment.

As if watching a 30 second news clip of a peaceful protester marching against Chinese oppression getting the snot and blood knocked out of him (literally) by the Chinese police didn’t tell you everything you needed to know.

Three first round picks and three other players is a hefty price for anyone. You don't make that trade except for one of the top five guys in the league. Basically a high risk win now strategy and given AD's contract he might be gone next year. But if the Lakers somehow got the best of it, so be it. Take it up with the Pelicans or whatever they call themselves.

So when the players start up again, in addition to the slogans they wear on the backs of their jerseys, will there also be slogans on their shorts, socks and sneakers too?

Maybe they can all wear headbands with slogans on them too to really make a statement.

At least we'll all know how woke they are, even if the majority of them can't identify more than two countries on a globe or solve a math problem a sixth grader can.

But hey, they know social injustice when they see it; well, when they can see over the stacks of money on their living room floor.......................

But I suppose somehow this is all Belicheats and Bradys fault; news flash, Brady is in Tampa now, so you can stop railing on him now.......................

Just read that only 20% of them are registered to vote!!! You want to make a change, I can tip them off to a good place to start. It’s called a voting booth

Zachary,
if only 20% voting probably a good thing. They seem very good on emotion but not so much on evidence. Time a "sports" reporter put them on the spot with some difficult questions rather than them giving their one sided view of the world. Unfortunately the questioner would then become an ex sports reporter.

I probably missed it but did the NBA players comment on the death of the 5 year old white kid playing outside his house ?

George,

We're not letting Brady off that easy; it's still all his fault!

The voting message cracks me up.

I recently told an acquaintance I wasn’t sure I was going to vote in this years election.

She told me that I had to vote, voting is the most important way to make change!

Then I told her who I as thinking of voting for.

She then told me maybe I shouldn’t vote.

The implied message is get out and vote, but the true message is get out and vote but only if it is a vote for my side!

Jason...that's so funny...I have had that same conversation with others...
