I saw the score, Chris, but not the game. I also saw the Terps won. Had not realized that the Terps were ranked at #7. Bit surprised at that. Last night was a good opening night.:wink2: -- Al

Both games, UK vs. MSU and KU vs. Duke were decent to watch. In my mind they went as expected, all the teams started off tentative and by the 2nd half the games devolved into a type playground style basketball. I think all four of these teams will improve once they get some games under their belts and develop some team cohesion.

UK loses by 3 to Youngstown. Terrible shooting and about a hundred TO's for the Wildcats. Chris

UofL #1, fourth team in 5 weeks. They play #4 Mich this week. THe team was on a re-build after the scandals left by Pitino. New coach seems to be a class act, unlike the ultimate jerk his predecessor was.

Don't look now Al but the Terps are #3. Where'd that come from? ^&cool. Chris

Good question, Chris. They are 8-0 in typical early season, non-conference games. Haven't been overly impressed, but they aren't bad, just untested. They play ND this week, then start Big 10 play Saturday, so we'll see if they are worth the rating soon. -- Al

Hi Al, well UM won a couple of CLOSE games followed up by a loss. And another #1, UofL, goes down not long in the top spot. Chris

Ho Chris,
Yep, just what I feared. Early season rankings don't mean much until teams start playing conference games. Terps have developed a bad habit of starting slowly, falling behind by double figures, and then having to rally. It won't fly in the Big 10 this year. Shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride of a season.:rolleyes2: -- Al

UNC loses to Wofford, actually 2 of the last 3 they've played them. And those were at the Dean Smith Center. ^&grin UNC is 6-4, lost 4 of the last 5. Yet they still poll at #26 in the AP. Really, how does that work?

UK has been rolling on the "minors." But they play OSU and UofL this month. We'll see if they are for real. Chris

UNC and Duke would both have to go sub-.500 to get knocked out of the polls. :rolleyes2: -- Al

I remember a few, okay more than a few, yrs ago, UM and another team beat Duke in the same week and knocked them out of the poll. The very next week they came back in and jumped over UM, who had just beaten them. :rolleyes2: Chris

The only team out of North Carolina that I ever really enjoyed watching was the 1982 NC State team of Jimmy V that went on that miraculous run and beat Phi Slamma Jamma for the title. It is my favorite college game ever. Enjoyed it more than the Terps 2002 title (has that really been 17 years ago already?). Just something about that massive upset and that whole 'little engine that could' thing that Valvano had going. I think that Duke and UNC purchased permanent seating in the Top 25 in some deal with Satan back last century. JMO.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

AND, I picked them to win! No money on it unfortunately. :rolleyes2: Chris

I watched the Kentucky game last night. I think Calipari needs to do a better job of motivating this current crop of players. Against lesser opponents they seem to think they simply need to show up in order to win.

They couldn't hit the three. Like Calipari said in the Youngstown loss, you don't have to make all of them but you have to make some. I think they hit maybe two of the three pointers all night.

OSU tonight and UofL next week. Could be couple more losses. Chris
