Hey Chris, UMd is kicking *** and taking names against WF. Up 40-24 at the half. Looking real good, so far. We'll see if they can seal the deal in th 2nd half. -- Al

UMd hung on, 70-64, but WF made a real run at them, closing to 3 points a couple of times. Thr Terps got the win, so that's what is important. Makes them 11-4, 1-1 in th ACC, I think. Actually, based on the first several games this season, I thought UMd would have trouble getting to double figure wins but they have improved and played better than I thought they could. I think they have a legitimate shot at a .500 season now. -- Al

Al, I watched this one also. Well, I was flipping back and forth to the UK- Auburn game which was surprisingly close until the last 4 mins. I was worried when the 19 point Terp lead went down to 3! Stoglin had 20 pts although he was 6 for 18. We struggled against a weak(er) team but got the win as you said. I like this coach, we'll see how well he recruits. Go TERPS! Chris

Chris, the Terps won again today, 61-50, over GaTech. I didn't see this game but the Terps led at the half and must have played decently enough. Their FG% was lousy, again, but the 3 point % was decent. This makes them 12-4, 2-1. Not bad for a rebuilding team under a new coach. I am rather impressed although they haven't hit the ACC's good teams yet. -- Al

Hi Al, didn't get to see this one either, don't know if it was on here as I was out most of the day. Will take any win we can get. Think of what they could do if Williams (player) had come back. :rolleyes2: Maybe Terps will surprise a few teams this season. Chris

Okay, again UK and UM both on tv at same time!! I will record one but know I will be flipping back and forth, driving wife crazy. FSU just wipped UNC badly! Could get ugly. Chris

Terps got waxed by FlaSt., 84-70. If not for Stoglin's 27 pts. the Terps would have lost by a lot more. No part of their game was very good as they were outplayed from the start. Made a run early in the 2nd half but it couldn't be maintained and the Seminoles just walked away from them. Not an unexpected result for UMd. against a much larger and more experienced team. :( -- Al

I remember the day they got booed for losing to FSU. It used to be unacceptable for the Terps to lose to second tier teams. Roles have been reversed! I confess I did not watch this one, wanted to see UK rout Arkansas. I recorded the game to watch later, but don't know. Faint hearted fan I guess. Chris

Terps got beaten by Temple today in a game distressingly similar to the loss last game. Lots of turnovers, fall behind by double figures, make a run to trail by one, then run out of gas and lose big. Stoglin's support is real hit or miss. Terps just not able to put a whole game together right now. The Terps 7 footer, Len, played only 7 minutes today and his contributions have fallen to almost zero over the last 4 games. -- Al

Watched game and they couldn't stop the three in second half. Competition is tougher so Len is having problems. Missed some FTs also. Not going to get any easier! :rolleyes2: Chris

The game I have been dreading...MD-Duke! :( On Wed at 9pm. Are you going to watch Al?

On a happier note, UK now 20-1.

Hi Chris. Yes, I will be watching until my wife says "Enough!". I tend towards a vocabulary of 4 letter words and anything that isn't nailed down tends to levitate in the general direction of the TV, once UMd falls behind or plays badly, both of which are distinct possibilities when playing Duke (or anyone else for that matter:rolleyes2:). But I will be watching, for a while anyway.:D I am glad that UK is playing so well. Maybe UK and Duke will meet again, somewhere along the line. UK owes Duke some payback for the Laettner game. -- Al

Heard they are going to name the court for Gary Williams tonight. Hope they show that, it may be the best part of the evening. :rolleyes2:
I too have been know to turn off the game at a certain point. Chris

Can't stop Duke inside and Stoglin is off tonight. Duke opens lead in second half. Chris

Even so, UMd has managed to hang close until now. With about 2 minutes left, Umd still 8 down. Time running out. -- Al

UMD needs to work at the ole freethrow line. Can't hit the broadside of a barn. Down by 11 with 57 seconds left - game over. They tried but they just are not taking advantage of what shots they get. The final score is not an indication of how close this game stayed for so long. Duke wins 74-61 but they weren't that sharp, either. Oh well, again. -- Al

I turned it off at the 1:29 mark, not wanting to watch the foul fest. But was happy there wasn't a blow out. SOme of the pieces are there to make this a good team but the inside game is missing. Have watched teams get way too many second and third chances on the boards. Len has not seen this level of play before now. And like you mentioned, too many missed free throws. Now lost 10 of last 11. I remember a time when Terps had won 5 of 8, but that was a long time ago.

FSU is looking tough this yr. Leading the conference right now.
Chris

MD hangs on to beat VA Tech 73-69. Stoglin had 21 of his 28 pts in second half but was 6 of 11 FT. Those missed FT will hurt them. Nice to see the Terps come back from 3 loses to hang the W. Chris

It was a good win, but typically frustrating as UMd just hasn't learned to close out. Chris, you are right about those FT's. UMd can't afford not to cash in on those. Practice, practice, practice. They also gave up a lot of easy points in the paint. A win is a win, though.:smile2: -- Al

MD used to be a pretty good FT shooting team.
