NCAA Football - 2018 (3 Viewers)

Just when you think something can’t change, it does.

Did anyone predict Paternos plunge from grace? Tiger Woods? Trumps victory? The Lakers being surpassed by the lowly Warriors?

Staying on top in a highly competitive field is really really really hard. I have no idea how or why things happen, just that they do and change is one inevitable.

PS: Kirby Smart played college football at Georgia. He would not leave UGA for Bama.

Hate to disagree on your one point, if Nick Saban retires and Kirby Smart gets the offer for the job at Bama, I would be happy to wager that he would take the Bama job. And all moot b/c I don't think Nicky Boy is retiring anytime soon and the early odds are they will be right back in that championship game once again to Georgia's dismay. As is always the case Money Talks and Bullshot walks, just ask Jimbo Fisher, A&M put up a ton of money and he walked away from his "dream job" that he pined for years for.

Tom:

I had to look it up, Jimbo got a 10 year $75 mil deal? Really?

Wow..............

So the Alabama QB Hurts is transferring to Oklahoma. How uncomfortable will that be if those teams play in the college football playoff next year? People were surprised Hurts stayed on after he lost the starting job and made a big deal of his loyalty and now he is gone. He pulled a Saban on Saban who has the loyalty of a snake.

Reading this morning that USC has sold the naming rights to the LA Memorial Coliseum for $69 million. What a disgrace and abomination. It's going to be called the United Airlines Memorial Coliseum. Good grief. It was originally named in honor of those who died in WWI. Unbelievable greed and poor judgment from my alma mater in the midst of the recent scandal about taking bribes to admit wealthy students. And they just raised tuition to 54K per year. Embarrassed and ashamed of the greedy folks running the school. Not to mention that the football team is in a complete death spiral.

Historically great football college football programs do not usually stay down for long. Interestingly enough even when they do their head coaching jobs remain some of most coveted in the nation.

Y’all may not remember but between Bear Bryant and Nick Saban there was a steady stream of good and not so good head coaches at Alabama, during which time the Tide was reasonably competive, for the most part, but was certainly not dominating.

Some of the head coaches I can remember off hand were Bill Curry, Mike Shula and Ray Perkins. There were quite a few others.

While big jobs are coveted, they are also highly pressurized as anything less than spectacular is greeted with derision.
