Bama is in deep do-do now, down by 3 TD's. -- Al

I'm done; that boneheaded fake that even the cheerleaders knew was coming leads to another TD, what a letdown this game was, what a ****show.

Goodnight.

Bama is just having one of those nights where everything is just coming up short. I was thinking that Clemson would be doing well to reach the 4th quarter with less than a 20 point deficit but it has turned out to be the opposite. Bama looks to be headed into the 4th trailing by at least 21. Just doesn't look like the Tide's night. -- Al

Football is one of those sports where I swear you can tell after a few series who is going to win the game...…...after that horrible pic six, Bama scores, then gives up another TD right away, then burps and farts down at the goal line, then Clemson scores, the game was over at that point.

Take the playoff games this weekend; you know Folsie and the Iggles were going to pull that game out of their collective *****, the Colts punched the Texans in the face early and often, the Chargers marched up and down the field vs the Ravens and the Ravens couldn't get out of their own way.

At least I won't be tossing and turning tonight after a last second loss.

And to think that long faced goofball is only a freshman, Clemson will probably rip off 4 in a row now...……………………...

Shocked that the Tide was so thoroughly crushed. Wouldn't have been completely surprised at an upset, by a couple of points, but this beating is shocking. Sure didn't see this one coming down the road. Thought the Tide had this locked, but as George said, you could see the writing on the wall 5 minutes into the game. Just shocking. -- Al

it is by no means the upset of the century but it is a little shocking that Bama lost so badly. I was sure they were going to win it.

I'll tip my cap to Clemson though, they beat 2 undeafted teams to win the playoff by a combined score of 74-19.

Congrats to Clemson, they sure earned this, a no doubter.

And as big of a Bama fan as I am, I can't hate on Clemson, specifically the Kevin Turner/Dabo story, #24 is Kevin's son, he was given a full ride to Clemson as Kevin was dying from ALS, he and Dabo were team mates on Alabama, Dabo spoke at Kevin's funeral, it's a nut punch of a story.

He gets dumped off for being so demonstrative on the sidelines, but again, I can't muster any bad feelings towards him, he did a tremendous thing with Kevin and his son...…………………….

Sometimes this happens when the 2 best teams play, you know, I actually think if these teams played 10 times, you would probably see a 50/50 split. I say that because of the talent and then the chess match that would occur. Dabo won the chess match last night. Alabama never turns the ball over and it got them out of their game, also the Matchups in the secondary when AL was on defense were off. If you blame anyone here, it would be Saban and the coaches, they got outcoached and then subsequently, the Clemson talent out executed the AL talent. Was not what I was expecting, but not a huge shock. These are the 2 best teams and we saw Clemson last night execute incredibly well in the game that mattered most.

I love the articles already out today predicting the end of the Saban dynasty.................probably the same morons who predicted the Patriots would be one and done.....................yeah right.

Bama was so dominate this year they looked like a deer in the headlights when things started to go wrong. They had no clue what to do. I would have never predicted a blowout in a million years but the Bama QB got exposed when they simply couldn't line up and run over the opposition. Outcoached and outplayed. They also seem to have quit in the third quarter.

Perhaps this whole Tua thing was a mirage. Although he was hurt against Georgia he looked poor and when he looked good, it was against poor competition. He will need next year to re-establish his stock for the pros.

Bama seemed out of step from jump, that pic 6 was a shocker. They ran the ball at will, but once they got down two scores, that went out the window. That's twice in three years they've lost the championship game to Clemson...............

It highlights how difficult it is to gauge football talent. Put almost any college QB on a team with Bama's talent, and they are going to look like Joe Montana most weeks. It's a team game. No QB can win unless they have someone to block and catch the ball. Put Tua on a typical college football team and he probably is an average QB. I'm reminded once again why I never bet on these games. Bama seemed like the most dominant team in college football history. They probably averaged 50 points a game and Clemson has a true freshman QB. No way they should win this game big on paper.

True on some points, but Tua is much better than average, he is really good with a lot of skill. Any freshman who can come in like last years Nat. Championship and do what he did cold, way above average. Last night, he made a few bad decisions, but the most shocking came down to 2 items, neither of which he can control:

A. Bama was outschemed on Defense especially as the game wore on. The secondary was flat out played and they gave up more big plays and 3rd downs than they did all year. No adjustments to a brilliant game plan by Clemson, no splash plays and no stops when needed. That happens and it did last night.

B. Normally disciplined Bama offensive line - penalties at the wrong time (red zone, crucial downs, etc.)

Tua mad some bad throws, but he also made some good ones. Again, not one person to blame for this and Tua and Bama will be ranked #2 preseason and right back in the hunt as a frontrunner in a few short months. The Nat. Championship will continue to go through the SEC and ACC for some time to come I predict. These teams are not recruiting, they are reloading, count on them to be factors in the playoffs for as long as they want to be.

Any college team out there will take Tua on their team 8 days a week! ^&grin

Also, they are now 2 and 2 in Playoff games, I would not mind seeing another one!

Great post.

I can't help but laugh at the media pundits who are now saying this is the beginning of the end for Saban. It is the same people who predicated the end of Brady and Belichick's demise earlier this year. They even chime in when the Warriors lose 2 in a row. While Bama will be back in the championship game next year, the Patriots will be in the Super Bowl and the Warriors will win another championship not one of those doubters will admit they were wrong.

And yet, nothing lasts forever. Eventually Bama will be average, the Pats will be sub par, Brady will retire and so will Belichick, and the Warriors will fall on their sword. It’s the natural order of things, after all.

Not holding my breath for the Tide to fall to average, not as long as Saban is there. A 146-21 record over his 12 years there doesn't argue well for average. In fact, Bama has had only 5 losing seasons since 1960 and have averaged only 2.7 losses a season since 1960. We could all be pushing up daisies before Bama hits average again, like they were briefly before Saban took over.{sm2} Perhaps Saban will become bored and move on, giving the rest of the NCAA a break. Problem is, I'm sure Bama has a Bear Bryant clone waiting in the wings... -- Al

How true how true and I am not even a Bama fan but they are historically one of the best and I don't see it slowing down. If Nick Saban retires, who wouldn't want the job? Dabo is a native Bama, Kirby Smart coached there, Jimbo Fisher called it his dream job, the list goes on. I don't see them ever becoming perennially average, too much money in that program and deep support.

If Dabo stays at Clemson and keeps that staff intact, they are not going anywhere either. The only team IMO that would challenge either one is Georgia.

Just when you think something can’t change, it does.

Did anyone predict Paternos plunge from grace? Tiger Woods? Trumps victory? The Lakers being surpassed by the lowly Warriors?

Staying on top in a highly competitive field is really really really hard. I have no idea how or why things happen, just that they do and change is one inevitable.

PS: Kirby Smart played college football at Georgia. He would not leave UGA for Bama.

Agree. My point was more directed at the fact that Bama is exceedingly successful at avoiding long stretches of mediocrity. Sure, they have had down years and even multiple bad years within a given period of years, but they are infrequent and don't last long before they are right back to winning 10-13 games a year. It's just necessary to 'appreciate' Bama's down years when they occur because they won't last long and it may be 20 years before the next one comes along. I respect Bama a lot more than I like them and I just marvel at how they stay on top year after year. -- Al

Historically great football college football programs do not usually stay down for long. Interestingly enough even when they do their head coaching jobs remain some of most coveted in the nation.
