Hi guys,

One of the great things in this little hobby of ours is the ability to change your mind (and opinions) on what K&C will and will not produce at any one given time.

In the past when asked if K&C would produce any specific item or group of items I always try and give reasonably precise answers for that time or for that foreseeable future. Of course circumstances change as do market forces and, in more than a few instances, you get to reverse a previous decision. I think that’s called flexibility and adaptability.

When asked first a few years back “Would K&C do more Russians or Eastern Front?” I replied truthfully then, “That I had no intention of going down that road at that time or in the near future.”

Same goes for Prussians, Austrians, Brunswickers and a few others… At this time (and for the foreseeable future) no plans for K&C to go there with their Napoleonics. We’ve still got plenty of French and Brits to tackle.

Talking of which… discussing with collectors, dealers and a couple of other manufacturers about Napoleonics… virtually 90% of that particular market prefers French and British items to any other!

In these days of tightening budgets and restricted production capacity it makes sound commercial sense to develop and promote product that already has a waiting market rather than cater to a much smaller but perhaps more vocal audience of Prussian and Austrian enthusiasts.

Of Course there are always exceptions to the rule and K&C and yours truly will always take a “leap of faith” into roads less travelled and sometimes more obscure.

But in general, it makes sense to look at your sales charts… talk to your dealers and collectors… and use your own (and your team’s) gut instincts in what to do… how to do it… and, importantly… when and if…

Best wishes and happy collecting!
Andy C.

P.S. For the record… when did I ever say, “K&C would never do Italian armour?”
Answer on a postcard, please.

Andy, now if you need definite sales, just stick to all my favourites being, AE, MG, SOTE, LOJ, NAP in EGYPT, LH, Desert village and DD buildings. All winners, forget the rest in these hard times. I am now going into hiding from the other collectors who for some reason like your other series. Cheers, Robin.

OH thanks K&C for letting everyone no about new and old ranges revisited . RUSSIANS and JAPS and MODERN troops all up for grabs. It was alway's hard to keep those quiet for so long. Simmo.

Thats good to hear, Andy. :)

I'll keep painting, and earning and saving and add to my NAPOLEONIC collection.... so keep them coming.

Looking forward to more from Egypt, and thats a great campaign to build upon.

But not too fast :redface2:

I think one of the problems with the Italian armour is that it is brittle, unattractive and is bettered by virtually everyone...and that's the real tanks, so the models must be pretty delicate!

Andy,
As you are sure to be aware , 2014 is the One Hundred year Anniversary of the start of the Great War, an unique time in history with each following year until 2018 also unique. I have no doubt you are aware of the opportunity this presents for one off and limited edition figures and vehicals to celebrate the Anniversary of the battles and events of the four year conflict. We Australians will celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Gallipoli in 2015 and I am sure the Diggers, Kiwis, Tommys, Doughboys and Frtiz/ Truks would like to be remembered with some fine editions from King and Country. Two years passes quickly, and I look forward to what you will offer in tribute to them.

Sly...very very sly!

Well done!

Andy will we see any Market Garden stuff some time this year ?
Thank in advance

Andy

I appreciate everything K&C does and you are always kind enough to listen to our wants & needs. We Napoleonic Collectors being the ELITE of the TOY SOLDIER COLLECTING WORLD simply ask you to consider - perhaps a limited run - like you have done before with K&C Napoleonic figures would be a good way of testing a market and filling a need of collectors. With the 200th Anniversary of Waterloo around the corner - this might be a interesting approach to other Napoleonic Army releases ??

Just a thought - Again appreciate everything you do !

Happy Collector - Ron ^&grin

Just a minor point, but the 2 largest Allied armies, the French and the Russians, the ones who suffered the highest casualties, should be included on this list. :wink2: -- Al

You said it to me at Chicago in 2009 and subsequently in a couple of PMs. But happily you changed your mind on that with the Semovente. ^&grin

You Eastern front fans must be very happy:) I remember the launch of the Berlin German/Russian figs a few years back now, there was a real buzz about them. Nothing like hearing your fave producer is visiting your fave theater of ops. I remember Andy announcing a return to Arnhem at a K&C UK show in London (also a few years back now)I was a happy chappy!:)

Thanks Andy, your response makes sense. You have said, however, on many occassions that "Waterloo sells" and certainly the Prussian army was critical to that battle.
Napoleonic collectors that I speak with are thrilled about your Napoleon in Egypt series and look forward to many more releases.

Al, Yes you're right, I'll give myself an uppercut for not including them.

I for one am waiting for the eastern front releases to come out so I can pounce on them with both feet. No hesitation here in picking these up. !!!!
