Got all of the sets in Randy's photo preordered also, plus the barn, plus the Union Artillery, plus the Iron Brigade sets. Glad there is several months of lead time betwen releases - will help in saving up the $$$ I have committed to.:D

At least we have been warned of the upcoming deluge of great set and can prepare for the onslaught to our budgets.

That is a grata great setup Randy and I too am saving for all of my new Zulu releases. Bread and water for the next few months I think :)

I would be buying all of those too if I hadn't gotten into WWII so much!! Love the artillery and Iron Brigade. I will likely pick up some of the artillery later. As for the Iron Brigade, I wish I could get the 2nd Wisc flagbearers separately because I already have lots of Iron Brigade figures. I also think it would be great if Britains would make McPherson's barn for Gettysburg.

In my discussions with Ken Osen he has told me that the barn soon to be released was copied off of a barn that is at Gettysburg. Unfortunately my advanced years of life ;) has hampered my short term memory today  and I can't recall the family name that is associated with this barn.

Does anyone know when the Hospital Wagon is to be released? Britains site indicates retiring, no date, which I think means almost sold out. Treefrog site shows "coming soon".

I pre-ordered all limited sets but a couple for ACW, SUDAN, NAP and ZULU. Did not want to miss out this time.:D

According to the 2010 Retail Price List the release date for the wagon is April bearing in mind that's the UK date

Mike can I possibly help out an ACW pal with his advancing years lack of memory :D

A number of barns were silent spectators but important landmarks at Gettysburg during the battle. There was as previously stated the McPherson Barn, the barn on the Bliss farm; The Trostle barn, the Sherfy barn as well as the barns at the Forney and Bender homesteads.

Don't know if any of those jogs the memory?

Reb.

Thanks Reb!

Looks "like" the Bryan Farm barn. Same type of style anyway ....

That sure does look like the model. I'll have to re-ask Ken, but it won't surprise me if it is modeled after the Bryan barn. Thanks for the photo - very interesting.

Hi Guys:

Our barn was modeled on the Bryan farm barn. The Rucker ambulance arrived early!!! It is shipping now! It looks amazing too.

The McPherson barn would be amazing, but if you guys are already wondering where to put the petite little boxes that the farmhouse and barn come in then the McPherson package and model will tip you over the edge! There is also a terrain issue with the McPherson barn - with part of it built into the ground...again - all could be done - but space would be a big issue. Certainly an iconic piece though - so never say never!

Thanks,

Richard

Just received the Standard and catalog today. I must say, Britains is really pressing forward in a lot of directions. The "War Along the Nile" series looks like another winner in the likes of their Zulu War! A lot of new stuff... no way I can keep up with it all... I will just have to make some thoughtful, careful choices...

I must say that the Standard is better than ever. I like the way they interspersed their figures into the historical articles presented with period photographs. Also, the new section interviewing young collectors is a nice touch and a great addition.

I would like to see an article touring the Britains figure-making process (i.e. where and how the molds are made, production in China, warehouse, etc.). I think that would be interesting for collectors.

I've been away from the club for a year, but it's great being back. :)

Great news Richard :D. I know that ambulance is amazing that's why I pre-ordered it as soon as I knew it was going to make its appearance. Really grerat news on its early release - now I am getting excited. When mine gets here I will certainly take many many photos of it and share them with the rest of the forum.

I can't wait to get mine too Mike! I have plans to create a couple of dioramas for myself for these...

It was hard to let these go after I photographed them!

The horses are stunning on the ambulance Ken. I think the finest to date of the First Gear generation.

Now hurry and hitch them up to a gun and some wagons for the AZW :)

I am glad to see this is modeled after the Bryan barn. It makes me even happier I purchased it. Your new structures are first class all the way!!! I understand the size and ground issue on the McPherson barn, but it sure would be spectacular to have one of those large PA barns. I would settle for other Gettysburg structures though. How about the Evergreen Cemetery Gatehouse?

That is a good question. Since dismounted Union ACW cavalry has been done so well it's pretty obvious that a release of dismounted Confederate Cavalry would be a blockbuster. Traded e-mails last year with Paul Clarke, the brilliant craftsman behind Shenandoah Miniatures and he at last communication was still working on his rendition of dismounted Rebel Cavalry. The now defunct Guard Corps Ltd. sets of dismounted Confederates is rarer than hens teeth to find. Ted Deddins of TedToy has a small supply of that line now being made in China however he indicated only Union Cavalry are currently being painted. However, Britains is the grandmaster when it comes to dismounted cavalry witness their superb releases this year. That diorama depicted in the 2010 catalog is stunning. Hopefully a nice release of dismounted Confederate Cavalry presented in a continuation of the previously released line of mounted black Hussar jacketed 1st Virginia Cavalry or in a more generic garb of grey, butternut with some yellow trims and facings would suit me just fine. Don't forget a clever combination of carbines, horse pistols and shotguns in the moldings as well. Lets cross our fingers for that series.
