New Diorama section (2 Viewers)

I think most of see exactly what Joe is saying, he obviously means there have been a huge amount of K&C dio's of late , because someone mentions one company does not mean they are bound by law to mention another.

Rob

UUUUGGGHHHH.....I am not discussing anything on this Forum any more. I am doing my dioramas and putting them with the manufacturer they belong to.....and if there are multiple manufacturers in the scene I am putting them in the dioramas section.

I have nothing against K&C I have many if their products, but just a dioramas section for them is ridiculous, and no matter how you slice it shows favoritism.

It is a shame that people do not partake of the forum as a whole. There is lots of neat stuff in all of the sections and by keeping everything to the manufacturer a lot of you guys are missing out. It isn't all that difficult to scroll to the Diorama section and have a quick browse is it?

Just my thoughts on the subject.

From recent events it might be wise. All I was saying is that Joe mentioned K&C , he did not HAVE to mention all other producers in his post, I'm not saying all other producers should not have threads too.

Scott, you are of course right in that it doesn't take much to scroll down , but the thing is mate a lot of people just don't. As a result a lot of your friends who you have up here just won't see your work. Up until now its worked just fine how it is, conversation, the odd dio, pictures etc its really good. Its only since there has been a sudden rush of dio's we are talking about this and as Wayne has kindly agreed to put his dio's in one thread it seems a shame to change everything and take away a really enjoyable element of the K&C hub as it were.

Rob

Rob..

Maybe a certain number of dio pictures scenes should be set for the more enthusiastic posters?? this would solve the problems and make the K&C thread return to what it was. as you say, the dio's worked well without the need for moderation and sub themes for dio's and, can work well again. although I voted for it as a good idea the continuity of the K&C thread and how it has worked in the time I have been on here with threads on this and that interspaced with some great dio's repaints and conversions worked very well. I would hate to see and could not see how it would work if all dio's were put in one catagory and, what would happen if you posted a dio outside of the section?

One can also see that people are getting cranky about why one section and not all so, its getting a can of proverbial worms
Mitch

Excellent idea Mitch. The more prolific dio producers could post in the diorama section, but those who only produce one once in a blue moon could still have them in the K&C area, I'm sure we wouldn't need too much moderation on this because everyone and his Donkey would be able to tell the diff between regular and irregular. I just ask that we please give this a try as it would be quite disheartening when you've put a lot of effort into your scene and are hoping for the maximum number of views, only to see it swallowed up in some quiet corner of the forum.

Rob

BSP has obviously done a ton of scenes, and I must say that when we put them in the particular manufacturers section they get quite a bit more attention. So under each manufacturer put a sub heading of Dioramas. I think it will organize things well. Some dont have an interest in dioramas. So they can skip it. And dioramas will not intermngle with the serious toy soldier discussions.

Those who are fans of a particular manufacturer can see them all under one heading. I think it would be of great convenience to the collector.

Multi manufacturer scenes will still be below. Alex

How about Lt.,MikeMiller,Mestell, and UKReb sub forums.^&grinGood idea but you should do it for all the main companies.

:redface2:...OMG...am I that bad...I know I get carried away with the enthusiasm of it all a bit......

I can't help myself...

Sorry Scott but I don't have enough spare time in the day to spend hours on here, I like to browse my favourite manafacturers & look at the great dios being posted there! I hardly get as far as the diorama section, so for me grouping things together in the respected manafaturers area is better. Or as everything seems to work well the way it is why change anything? People seem to post there dios where they seem to fit best for the most part anyway!

Why is it closed to newcomers? The Old boys want to have fun is not saying old boys of the forum, its a play on the ' Girls just wanna have fun ' title. Old boys as in boys and their toys:rolleyes2: Everybody is welcome and I think you know that. Don't know whats wrong with some folk around here lately.

Rob

I see what you mean :rolleyes2:

I guess it depends on how you use the forum Craig, I hit new posts and it shows everything I haven't viewed and what section they were posted in. I can then cherry pick at my leisure, so makes no difference which section they are in.

My suggestion would be to create a thread for each of the categories that K&C make and then have a communal thread like The Lt has done with his Britains Zulu thread and others have done with Trophy, the Sudan wars etc....

Everyone posting their own snaps under a dio section would make no sense as it would still be a jumble of assorted photos and searching through them would be just as difficult as if they were in the K&C section. At least you would stand a chance of finding a photo of Napoleon on a camel by looking in the Napoleon in Egypt thread.

Sound like a good idea

If there was to be such an area this is a very good idea.

does this mean that there will be a sub catagorised dio thread for every single range K&C does?? sounds like a lot of work and, what happens in another thread if a conversation gets going and someone is discussing say a Tiger I and they say well here it is in dio or, a picture of it and, cannot post the picture as its not a dio thread. you will lose context of the conversation if you have to refer the person to the specific dio thread the picture is placed. What happens when someone buys a new set and wants to show it off? I know when Rob (among many) does they throw it on a grass mat. is that seen as a dio?

Initially it sounded a good idea but, it isn't half becoming complicated

^&grin

Yes this is getting complicated! If someone does as I do when they get a new item and want to post a pic, that should still go in the normal K&C area because putting a Tank or figure on a mat is not a diorama by any stretch of the imagination.

Rob

Actually Duke has just started the experiment by starting a Duke K&C dio thread here in the K&C area{bravo}}

Rob

Or you can just make a like personal collection thread & just post in what you want if people look they look. Then add what you just bought, dio's etc. I'm surprised theres none of those anyway.

Well I think Duke has just started this here in the K&C section, so lets see if it catches on!
