New Diorama section (2 Viewers)

Or you can just make a like personal collection thread & just post in what you want if people look they look. Then add what you just bought, dio's etc. I'm surprised theres none of those anyway.

Well I think Duke has just started this here in the K&C section, so lets see if it catches on!

Rob

Yes, actually did this just a little earlier today. Glad to see Rob that you and rossim1 are thinking along the same lines and that I'm not alone on this:smile2:. Might work, we'll see.

Photos can still be posted in thread when discussed a product Mitch. Wouldn't make any sense if you couldn't. The dio section would be for just dios, you use it for showing off your new figures if you want.

I suggest that those of you not familiar with what I was proposing have a look here :-

We post our dios and also our new figures here along with stories and tips etc....and it works for us Zulu collectors.

This is turning into something more complicated than it needs be guys, it really should be quite simple.

I think most of see exactly what Joe is saying, he obviously means there have been a huge amount of K&C dio's of late , because someone mentions one company does not mean they are bound by law to mention another.

Rob

Precisely what was meant, thank you. Sorry if I ruffled anyone's feathers. It was certainly not intended.

Incredible collection you have there Rob!! I think it might be time for a new AFV shelf expansion! Thanks for sharing the pics of your sprawling collection....I love this stuff!

Thing is I think things are quite clear;

Up until a few weeks ago all was fine and was a happy mix of dio's,chat, pictures.

Then more and more dio's began to appear and other threads are now pushed right down and get less replies.

Duke has now made the first move in grouping dio's and Waynepoo has said he will do the same with new dio's. (which is appreciated Wayne)

I think grouping one persons work into one thread (lets say per era anyway, WW2/Napoleonic etc) will make so much difference. It will mean just one thread up at a time, plenty of room for other peoples contributions and these threads cn be called up again at any time.

Also there cannot be much more than five or six members who create scenes so often that it causes a problem in terms of sheer numbers, so this means that with just one thread each it will not overwhelm the forum.

Finally , grouping is done by the poster and requires less work by the mods or many more sections of the forum to negotiate.

If we just give ' grouping' at least a chance I'm sure it could work

Rob...

Great idea simple and effective.they would then not have to be individualised into catagory as one persons scenes would be in one thread.

Well Shannon has given us the perfect answer...Both!:smile2: We can now either post in the K&C Diorama section or where we normally post them, so its all good! Thank you Shannon

I guess it depends on how you use the forum Craig, I hit new posts and it shows everything I haven't viewed and what section they were posted in. I can then cherry pick at my leisure, so makes no difference which section they are in.

My suggestion would be to create a thread for each of the categories that K&C make and then have a communal thread like The Lt has done with his Britains Zulu thread and others have done with Trophy, the Sudan wars etc....

Everyone posting their own snaps under a dio section would make no sense as it would still be a jumble of assorted photos and searching through them would be just as difficult as if they were in the K&C section. At least you would stand a chance of finding a photo of Napoleon on a camel by looking in the Napoleon in Egypt thread.

Yes I agree, Posting "tons" of photos under just one "Thread" labeled K&C Dioramas could get to be a huge mess over time. It is better for each member to post his photos under a separate postings labeled as to the subject matter. Usually after a week or so such postings move on to page 2, etc because they have "shot their wad" and will not normally be looked at again anyway. Plus, one can look up a member's prior postings/threads and look for certain prior postings or threads that way. I take back my prior posting that the "K&C Diorama section was a good idea.

Hi All,
We're about to add some new subforums in a few places on the forum and I was wondering if there would be interest in adding a dedicated area in the King & Country specifically to post diorama pictures.
We've had lots of great pics posted lately and it's easy to get lost trying to get back to specific ones you liked at and if you prefer to look at other people's pictures for inspiration rather than posting on the discussion threads it would make it a lot easier to find them all in one spot.
Some collectors enjoy mixing and matching figures and vehicles from a variety of manufacturers so of course we would keep the Diorama/Diodrama part of the forum the same and people would have the option of posting in either area whether it was primarily a K&C dio or not--this would just make it easier for your K&C dios to be found by your fellow K&C collectors. We would consider adding dio sub-forums in other company's forums as well if collectors were interested.
This is a very image-rich toy soldier forum so we want to celebrate and encourage that and give them an opportunity to shine!
Let us know what you think.
Best regards,
Shannon Reuss

Mrs. Reuss,

I for one would like to add that moving the diorama picture threads to the new sub forum is one of the best moves on the forum. It really frees up the main page.

Thanks!!
