New Line coming in 2010 ! (1 Viewer)

What other lines do you guys want.I'll get on Matt's nerves enough until he agrees to do it.:D After my lines gets started first of course.:D;)

How about the wars of Reformation? Pikemen, Musketeers, Cavalry. I only have a passing knowledge of the era, watching Cromwell and the Three and Four Musketeers. The figures would be beautiful.

Dare I bring up the subject? There is also the American Civil War, which has "been done to death" but First Legion figures would be awesome. First Legion broke new territory with their Stalingrad figures. First Legion could do western theater Civil War (Tennessee).
The Confederate uniforms were different. Different cut, different color. Chickamauge could be the battle represented. Longstreet's corps came to Tennessee to bolster Bragg's forces. So both western and eastern depot uniforms could be shown.

A long, long time ago, Matt said he might be interested in these and he did participate quite a bit in some of the debates, so who knows?

Boxer Rebellion is my vote--lots of countries and uniforms including Russians which FL likes to do.

I think FL should do a line of medieval figures. Hastings, Crecy or Agincourt would be good topics to choose from. There aren't too many affordable, good quality medieval lines out there in matt metal. Also, I have been waiting for a Republic Roman versus Carthage range.

If FL could make everything we all want they would make a small fortune. It will be interesting to see where FL will be at 3-4 years from now.

Well, I must say that a no brainer for me would be ACW due to it's immense popularity(and it's my personal interest! )

Matt, if you decide to do it, can I ask that you use the guy who does your WW2, AND PAINT THEM IN THE SAME STYLE AND QUALITY!

Also while I'm requesting away, can you avoid those really boring bases that you do on your Napoleonics

And lastly can you give us lots of notice so that I can stop buying everyone else's!

I think the new range has already been chosen. All we can all hope for it is the one we personally want.:):):(

I personally like the bases used for the Napoleonic range. It works for Napoleonics. It may not work for other ranges. An ACW range would also, be an interesting range for FL to deploy. Napoleonics and ACW are my main ranges of collecting.

As someone said in a prior post, it would be nice for the manufacturers to announce their plans a lot earlier, at least a year in advance, so that collectors can prepare themselves (mentally and financially) for the onslaught...

:):):)

The current first legion bases would be perfect for ACW, Linear formations were a major component of Civil War tactics IMO.
I would also like to know in advance what figures are coming, but I believe that for a lot of reasons, it is not practical. I am sure that there have been ideas for figures that never came off. The long delay of the release of the Old Guard, trying to get it right. There are figures that have been on the workbench for a long time and not released yet. Rather than getting people's hopes up, Matt plays it kind of close to the vest. This is just my take on the subject, I obviously have no inside info.

My only problem with the bases is that they are somewhat limiting in varying figure positions in formations. As such they are biased toward static display versus diorama. Contrary to popular notion, rigid perfection in close order formations were a phase of battles and even for that it would be nice to be able to slightly turn a figure without changing the spacing. An octagon or circle would be preferable to me but in any case, it is a small annoyance.;)

Unfortunately, it is one of those areas where the interests of collectors and manufacturers do not coincide.:( The sooner you announce something the sooner you let your competitors have the opportunity to copy it or even produce a similar item sooner.

How about interchangeable bases ? Just have the figure made with two little holes in the bottom of their feet and sell several different bases . That way the buyer could choose what he wants . Its just a thought , But I'm sure it would cause more problems which would all end in an increase in the final cost .:) All the Best Gebhard

Great point's , I think you go along way in making a very good case for ACW . Even though I'm burnt out on CW at the moment . The CW will always be a period of military History that I'll love , I just was totally immersed in it for years and Traveled to many CW battle fields on the East coast and I need a break. But I could see how a First Legion CW line would pull me back in. I'm thinking of joining a unit to take part in the 150th anniversary reenactment of Gettysburg in 3 years. That would be awesome :)

I know exactly what you are saying. I was at 125th Gettysburg. I'm past re-enacting but the 150th would be great to see.
