We are just saying the same thing with different words my friend. I completely agree about the realism and yes when it comes to consistent proportions, that does distinguish them. That I appreciate that is reflected by the second hundred I am working on. Where we differ slightly is that I think the choice made is to do it right and not copy anyone else. So if that is what you mean by a decision to stand alone than we are on the same page, just in different sentences. However, unlike FL, a few of the other companies are not consistent, even with their different proportions. So while I agree with your example, there are some that do fit pretty well IMO. Maybe someday FL will make everything I want and then I can truly treat them as stand alone for me.Hi Spitfnd, ( Bill )
IMO First Legion has made a conscious decision to stand alone otherwise they would be copying the style of other manufactures .Think about it how many K & C clones do we have out there now ? I'm not one to get out the measuring equipment when it comes to scale but I have several hundred of their Napoleonic figures and they all look to me to be in perfect proportions . They look very realistic to me . Not to say anything bad about other manufactures but I recently have seen a photo on TF of a GI holding a Thompson made by another Co. and his hand was as wide as a 30 round stick magazine is long for Gods sake. . Putting something like that next to a First Legion Figure would just not look right IMO .Just by doing their own thing IMO has made FL a stand alone company.
I certainly hope they do that as well. I would love some Peninsula village buildings. I just don't think they need to do trees, rocks, bushes and grass.I hope they make a building from one the Battles you are interested in maybe Waterloo or if they branch the Napoleonic range out to include the Peninsula because I think you are missing out big on building/terrain line they have put out thus far , even guys who don't collect FL are giving them rave reviews. All the best Gebhard.
