New Sherman M4A1 75 mm Gold Edition (1 Viewer)

I have to say that the HB sherman's are the best on the market. Having said that, I own the HB Ardennes M4A1 76mm sherman, and to be honest, I do not see a major difference in appearence or quality when comparing it to the new gold edition winter sherman. I purchased the add on accessories and the total package came out to $220.00. Free shipping as well. If I had to purchase this tank as a Gold edition, with shipping, accessories, and crew, you are looking at well over $500.00. Yes, they certainly are better looking than the K&C issues of the Sherman, but for $149.00, the K&C classic sherman is a pretty good looking tank, complete with crew and stowage accessories, and is a great deal for those who cannot afford the upscale Gold HB tanks.

I happen to think there is room in the market for all three versions. For those who are is into the Sherman as I am into warbirds, or who like to have unique or customized items in their collections, the Gold Version is clearly the way to go.

If somone wanted an version pretty close to the gold version in appearance, but that was neither "one of a kind" nor customized, the original HB Sherman was a pretty good choice (I own one, and am only disappointed by the fact that the decals are pretty visible when the light hits the tank a certain way).

If some one wants a darn good version with a full crew and removable stowage accessories for a substantially more affordable price, the new K&C classic Sherman is the way to go.

I am pretty sure that there are enough collectors who fit in each of these catagories (and quite a few who fit in more than one) that all three versions should be good sellers.

I agree with Louis. In my mind, more choices in styles and prices make a better hobby.

Any chance I can still get in an Order for one of these, exactly as depicted? I left a message with Shannon about it . . . PLEEEAASEEE!!!!!:D

why dont you email Ana straight Louis? i'll PM you Ana's email. Good Luck and best Rgds.

Louis,

Worse comes to worse there are those of us who can make you one from the K&C Sherman. The modeler attached the foliage via the use of "Sommerfield Airplane Landing Mat" which was a heavy-guage steel mesh (not unlike heavy chicken wire) that was tack welded to steel supports on the side of the tank. Not an uncommon modification in the First Army in the late summer/fall of 1944.

You could use a piece of tulle fabric, too. Is your wife's wedding veil sitting around, with no good use? :D

Scratchbuilding is an art, but also fun!

Prost!

I would really like to get the Honour Bound version as a statement of support for Ana and her team - they really created masterpieces. I only wish there was a way to bring back Gold Edition production. I would have happily bought the other proposed Sherman variations, like the bulldozer, calliope and the duplex drive.

i agree Louis, its a shame.

I understand - I was REALLY tempted to order the M4A1 with the wading stacks - it would have gone great in a scene with the K&C DUWK, etc. I was VERY close several times to clicking that mouse to order one but told myself to calm down. I managed to ride out the deadline but still have moments of regret - as the resident Shermanoholic I really needed that "fix" of M4A1 beauty!

Gary,

I ordered one of the Shermans with the wading stacks. That's what got me looking at the other Gold Edition photos, and made me covet the Sherman with the foliage.

Ana told me they can't take another order now, but there is some slim hope of me getting one of the Foliage Shermans after this round of orders is completed. I will be discussing the matter in Chicago. I am keeping my fingers crossed.

well don't be down mate, im pretty sure you'll be able to persuade Ana.

and i won't be surprised if you got more than a Foliage Sherman from HB.

All the best, Father Louis. ;)

sincerely,

brother Nasir.

Nasir,

It doesn't really get publicized as much as my K&C collection, but I have quite a bit of Honour Bound product. On display in its own cabinet in the museum is an Honour Bound winter damaged Panther, winter Bergepanther, winter amphibious Jeep, German Horse Drawn Fieldkitchen, German Food Line, and Normandy Sherman, all of which will soon be joined by a Gold Edition Wading Sherman with Snorkels. I have always been a supporter of Honour Bounds regular products, and have recently learned to have a very sincere appreciation for their Gold Edition products.

I have every intention of being politely and patiently persistent in my pursuit (wow, alliteration:D) of the Gold Edition Sherman with foliage camouflage. I also hope that we can all find a way to get Gold Edition production going again. Perhaps if we could convince Ana to accept a number of paid pre-orders for a particular vehicle (like say a Sherman based Tank Recovery Vehicle or a Hobarts Funny or a Bulldozer Sherman) at whatever price she needs to turn a profit we could get these wonderful vehicles going again. I see them as being the armor equivilent of the K&C Museum Quality Warbirds. Frankly, the only vehicles on their level are from Figarti, and Figarti doesn't exactly release monthly dispatches full of new items like K&C.

I just ordered another Honour Bound Panther (#422) and a Boulangerie Scenic base, either because (a) I was in need of a fix for my habit, (b) I wanted to demonstrate to Ana just how much I like collecting Honour Bound in the hopes of convincing her to let me get one of the Foliage Shermans or (c) both of the above.:p

you guys should have seen Frank's Normandy Tiger with Foliage.

magnificient.

I looked it up on the Tiger Gallery Thread (last page), and now I want that Tiger as well as the Sherman with Foliage camouflage!

Thanks a lot Nasir!!:D:p

I also have a bunch of HB tanks and figures in my collection. I think they are under rated by most people. They play nicely with my K&C stuff also. The Sherman and Tiger Gold Editions are phenomenal. I wished I got any HB Sherman when they were available.

I only have One HB tank, and that is the winter sherman. It is by far one of the best replica's that I own.
