I have to say that the HB sherman's are the best on the market. Having said that, I own the HB Ardennes M4A1 76mm sherman, and to be honest, I do not see a major difference in appearence or quality when comparing it to the new gold edition winter sherman. I purchased the add on accessories and the total package came out to $220.00. Free shipping as well. If I had to purchase this tank as a Gold edition, with shipping, accessories, and crew, you are looking at well over $500.00. Yes, they certainly are better looking than the K&C issues of the Sherman, but for $149.00, the K&C classic sherman is a pretty good looking tank, complete with crew and stowage accessories, and is a great deal for those who cannot afford the upscale Gold HB tanks.
I happen to think there is room in the market for all three versions. For those who are is into the Sherman as I am into warbirds, or who like to have unique or customized items in their collections, the Gold Version is clearly the way to go.
If somone wanted an version pretty close to the gold version in appearance, but that was neither "one of a kind" nor customized, the original HB Sherman was a pretty good choice (I own one, and am only disappointed by the fact that the decals are pretty visible when the light hits the tank a certain way).
If some one wants a darn good version with a full crew and removable stowage accessories for a substantially more affordable price, the new K&C classic Sherman is the way to go.
I am pretty sure that there are enough collectors who fit in each of these catagories (and quite a few who fit in more than one) that all three versions should be good sellers.
