The back of turret where storage boxes are located is resting on the exhaust pipes to the Feifel filtration system. Prevents the turret from seeding property to base. Acting like a fulcrum tipping the turret slightly forward making it wobbly and somewhat unstable. Anyone else have this problem? Tried uploading pics of my Tunisian Tiger & new Wittman for comparison. Wont take. There is a noticeable gap in this same area on Tunisian Tiger which allows turret to seed properly to base and swivel the turret. Almost like these exhaust pipes have been built up on new Wittman to eliminate gap. Appreciate any feedback

Sorry mate can't help but Whittman's tank was blown up with the turret ending up lying on the ground, just skip forward a few years and display it lying on the ground!:wink2:

If it doesn’t fit properly, I suggest you contact your dealer.

Interesting that after selling out of the first batch of these new Tigers (450x) that this is the first time this 'problem' has been raised on TF?!

What wrong with asking the question if there a problem with his Tiger ?

I'm pretty picky when it comes to the items I collect as this stuff is not cheap. I noticed a slight lift on the left side of the turret as a result of the reason indicated. While neither side of the turret rests exactly flush with the base, the lift is very slight and hardly noticeable (at least on mine). In comparison to the last Winter Tiger (WS220), my turret is no more wobbly or unstable mainly due to the weight of the barrel.

Still love the tank and it's not a big issue for me.

I'm not sure I understand this question. If a person has a problem with a product they purchase, why not raise the question. If you buy a car and there is something wrong with it, I'm sure you'd call the dealer.

WO notes that this appears to be a common problem so it's probably up to each consumer to judge whether the flaw is acceptable.

Can you post a pic?

I have absolutely no problem with the new members question and as a potential buyer, I am in fact very interested to hear if there are any issues with this new Tiger.

As I pointed out in my original post, to my knowledge this is the first time this issue has been raised on TF after 450x sales. So is this a major flaw in the model or not?

I've been disappointed with models from other manufactures before with poor gun elevation and turrets with limited turning capacity. If I'm considering blowing nearly $400nz on a model then I wouldn't want to get it home and find it has 'design flaws'. Particularly when so many members have praised the model.

I think WO response thus far sums up the extent of the issue quite nicely and I appreciate and value his feedback.

Posted a couple of pics comparing Wittman and then Tunisian. I can post more later if helpful. Mine is pretty unstable with turrent straight forward. Move it off the feifel exhaust pipes it is better. Just an fyi received this as a xmas gift so wasn't able to get it out of box til then. Its pretty noticeable on mine, saw it right away.

Pics enclosed, first is the Wittman, second pic of the same area on Tunisian Tiger

Hope this could be fixed in the next batch.... :salute::

Looks like the turret box was mounted too low on the turret causing interference with the hoses, per the photo comparison. May be a QC issue with this one Tiger or a small lot; but not the entire production run. Thus the problem will present with some but not all Wittman Winter Tigers.

A problem like this occurred with the Honor Bound Tiger I. A number had oversize turrets that overhung the hull hatches. Some had the problem and some did not; it seems two production runs were involved and one run had the flaw that was not caught by QC. The hulls were ok, just the turrets had the problem!

No, the hoses are substantially more built up on the Wittman vs Tunisian. I agree tho if turret box a little higher it would clear. Will try to post a couple top views of both in the next couple days.

Curious as to whether anyone else is having this problem with the Turret clearance ???

I'm sure Andy's probably aware right now, and the issue is probably part of the QC checks.

The solution to this particular problem is to either not worry about it and do nothing, take it up with the dealer for a replacement (K&C main if the dealer won't /can't help) or get out a dremel tool and fix it yourself...

Could you not place something thin undernesth the turret to push it upwards slightly?

no don't think so, here are couple of pics comparing the two. The relief on the back of the hull for Wittmann is much more pronounced or raised when compared to Tunisian Tiger. I should have access to another Wittmann next week and will provide more info then. First & third are Tunisian, second and fourth are Wittmann

Would a round cut of cardboard at the bottom of where the turret goes in raise the turret enough so it doesn't catch but not raise the turret so high it doesn't look seated?

Terry

What about grinding some material off the bottom of the overhanging turret box? Well that's what I would do if it was a problem the dealer couldn't easily resolve, surely most guys have a power tool to attach a masonry grinding disc.
