Mike Miller and I spoke about this at length and Mike made the same point I've been saying all along; if he is guilty of something and the appeal results in the suspension either not being overturned or reduced, then he should take the punishment and move on.
If however he is truly innocent, then fight it tooth and nail to get your name cleared; if he takes this to court, then it's one of two things.............he's either innocent or he's a complete and utter fool.
If I'm him and I'm innocent, no way do I allow my name and reputation to be trashed.
Having had the pleasure to see Tom Brady play QB for the Patriots since 2001, IMO it's the former and not the latter.
We'll see, time will tell....................
I did say this...
I'm incredibly stubborn...
and if I knew I was innocent...
I would not accept a guilty plea or lesser charge on anything...
I would spend every penny I have...
exhaust every favor I could get...
and use every resource at my disposal to clear my name 100%...
I think Goodell is just mad that Brady wouldn't give up his phone records...
as Goodell had to give up his in the Ray Rice case...
thinking that Brady thinks he's above the same rules that Goodell had to bend to...
if they can't draw a connection between Brady's phone records with the ball boys...
whether he colluded in this or not...
then I just don't see that they can prove much of a case...
besides all of that...
with Hardy's suspension reduced as much as it was...
I think a lot of people will rationalize that...
how can deflating a ball and beating a woman draw the same penalty?
I fully expect Goodell to drop it to 1 or 2 games...
but I don't think that will be the end of it...
I don't think that will appease Brady...
if Brady is willing to go this far...
I think it will end up in court...
I just can't imagine Brady would do all of this...
and allow his phone records to be examined...
if there were proof he was associated with this...
it just doesn't make sense to me...
