NFL 2015 Season (1 Viewer)

Unless he thinks that he can prevail, he would not bring an action in the courts. Obviously, he thinks he can. Also, Goodell's track record with having suspensions affirmed is none too good.

Mike Miller and I spoke about this at length and Mike made the same point I've been saying all along; if he is guilty of something and the appeal results in the suspension either not being overturned or reduced, then he should take the punishment and move on.

If however he is truly innocent, then fight it tooth and nail to get your name cleared; if he takes this to court, then it's one of two things.............he's either innocent or he's a complete and utter fool.

If I'm him and I'm innocent, no way do I allow my name and reputation to be trashed.

Having had the pleasure to see Tom Brady play QB for the Patriots since 2001, IMO it's the former and not the latter.

We'll see, time will tell....................

The stories that he will bring a Federal action could be a tactic to get a reduced suspension. However, if it's not, it would only make sense if he truly believes he's innocent and can prove it. Even if not innocent, as Goodell has a poor track record with suspensions, perhaps he's hoping the Federal court will knock it down.

I did say this...

I'm incredibly stubborn...
and if I knew I was innocent...
I would not accept a guilty plea or lesser charge on anything...

I would spend every penny I have...
exhaust every favor I could get...
and use every resource at my disposal to clear my name 100%...

I think Goodell is just mad that Brady wouldn't give up his phone records...
as Goodell had to give up his in the Ray Rice case...
thinking that Brady thinks he's above the same rules that Goodell had to bend to...

if they can't draw a connection between Brady's phone records with the ball boys...
whether he colluded in this or not...
then I just don't see that they can prove much of a case...

besides all of that...
with Hardy's suspension reduced as much as it was...
I think a lot of people will rationalize that...

how can deflating a ball and beating a woman draw the same penalty?

I fully expect Goodell to drop it to 1 or 2 games...
but I don't think that will be the end of it...
I don't think that will appease Brady...
if Brady is willing to go this far...
I think it will end up in court...

I just can't imagine Brady would do all of this...
and allow his phone records to be examined...
if there were proof he was associated with this...

it just doesn't make sense to me...

Well it's about that time, the O's wheels are falling off a little each week and it's getting towards training camp!!!!!! got to say a lot of craziness since last Feb. draft, trades etc. got to think the Seahawks will be tough to beat, I think Peyton and co. with Kubiak as a coach will be a force, Kubiak could give a rats *** if Peyton throws 1 touchdown or 500 as long as they win and seeing him coach with the Ravens last year it's all about the W, not stats, I feel the Pats will take a Raven like hit in the secondary with all the departures there but if there is one coach that can fix it it's Belicheck or however it's spelled??? as far as my Ravens it's been shocking to actually see Peter King pick the Ravens to win it all and having some other NFL magazines pick the Ravens to win the North, I take predictions about as serious as I take politics and that ain't much, so bring it on!!!!!!!!! let's just skip the pre-season and get'er rolln now!!:)...Sammy

Not trying to help George out but I am one of those fans who believes a champion is the champion until they are officially knocked out of contention.

In other words, for now I think the Patriots will repeat.

Heard on sports talk radio today that the NFL owners are putting pressure on Goodell to keep Brady's suspension at four games.

No collusion there huh? What are the owners telling him "Keep it at four games or we'll fire you?"

What they really should be saying is "We can't beat the Patriots on the field, so we need you to keep their first ballot HOF QB off the field to give us a fair chance."

Think of how annoyed they're all going to be when the backup steps in and goes 4-0.......................

yea...

I also read an article that said an unidentified source claims a small group of owners are pushing Goodell to keep the suspension at 4 games...

but they didn't identify the source or the alleged owners...

it may be true...and it may be for the reason you stated...

I don't see why it takes so long to decide one way or the other...

doesn't NE's camp opens on the 29th...in 6 days?

For those owners that are pushing to keep it at 4 games, all I can say is what goes around comes around.

Mike,
This thing is going to go one of two ways; it will either be a massive distraction that will derail the season, OR, the team and organization will circle the wagons and take out their frustration over this on the rest of the teams in the league.

The last time the league dropped the hammer on the Patriots with spygate, they went 16-0, so we'll see what happens....................

George...

look at this story...

http://www.foxsports.com/san-diego/...red-nfl-settlement-on-brady-suspension-072315

it claims the Union is proposing Brady pay a large fine with no suspension...

which I doubt Brady will take if he is innocent...

now check out this video...

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...dy-will-accept-reduced-deflategate-suspension

Bleacher Report Jason Cole...

he is saying that the NFL is trying to postpone the decision to wear Brady down to take a deal to avoid the distraction in training camp...

he is saying if Brady agrees to any deal...that it will be with full denial of involvement...

the NFL is playing hardball and postponing this on purpose to create a distraction or get acceptance of a penalized deal...

but again...

I don't think Brady will accept any deal where he pleads guilty to anything...whether it's just a fine or a reduced suspension...

he wants his name cleared...

Just like Broadway Joe did many years ago, another Jet lands on the cover of SI.............Best of luck back in NY Revis.............

Speaking of SI, according to one of their polls, the Patriots are the most hated team and Belichick is the most hated coach among NFL fans.

I'm shocked, shocked I tell you....................when Brady and Belichick retire and they stink on ice, I wonder what the fans will say then; "They're not good anymore, so we don't hate them anymore."

Hall of Fame will not be allowing Junior Seau's family to make a speech at his induction ceremony. They're afraid that they might say something about concussions, etc.

The story is making headlines all over the country. Just another example of the stupidity of the NFL.

George:

The Walsh Niners had that moniker for years. Same as the Patriots, a great coach who perfected his system based on a clean-cut, drop back QB. Then Seifert took over and won with Steve Young. More hate.

Once that era ended and they were a doormat all of the sudden nobody hate the Niners anymore.

Yeah, it's amazing how the "hate" goes away once the winning does; it's not hate, it's jealousy.

I wish people would stop kidding themselves..................

It seems the two organizations leading the charge are the Ravens and the Colts; how ironic, the two biggest competitors of the Patriots in the AFC and the two teams who lost to them in the playoffs last year.

Keep Brady on the bench for four games and they'll have a shot.

I mentioned this to you before Mike, but this all started when the Patriots used legal substitutions in the playoff game vs the Ravens, which confused the Ravens and let to a touchdown. Harbaugh blew a gasket on the sidelines and after the game when asked about it, Brady make a snarky comment about how the Ravens need to study the rule book.

Harbaugh then dimed out the Patriots and underinflated balls to the Colts, who then alerted the league, who then set up the sting operation to nail the Patriots.

I'm 100% convinced if Brady had not made that snarky comment that Harbaugh, who's a great, great coach but is just like his brother, ie, a whiny two year old when he doesn't get his way, would never have called the Colts.

This whole mess is on Brady for being a smart *** and/or Harbaugh's inability to let a shot roll off his back.

I expect a reduced suspension...

the I expect Brady to file an injunction...

and then I expect going to court...

Brady's phone seems to be the key...

I think it irks Goodell that he wouldn't let the NFL look at his text messages...

after Goodell surrendered his phone on the Ray Rice case...

Well George this is one Raven fan that hope Brady doesn't get suspended, I never saw/heard enough evidence that would merit a suspension, reasoning on my part let's say the Ravens beat out the Pats by a game for the last playoff spot or something to that degree all I will here from the Pats fans is the "if we had Brady for those 4 games" type comments, if we beat/lose to the Pats in any way next season I hope it's with Brady at the helm for all 16 games, perfect example Bell for the Squeelers doesn't play in the Playoff game last year against the Ravens, Ravens beat them and guess what I get to hear all year loooonnnngggg, ??? "if Bell played yada, yada, yada" well he didn't, just like Jimmy Smith, and almost every other defensive back starter of the Ravens was either out of on IR, so excuses are like you know what, so I'm with free Brady, and hope there is another round of a great playoff rivalry in 2016...Sammy

Sammy,
IMO, he got a four game suspension because he didn't turn over his phone; he got suspended for not fully cooperating in the investigation.

Not sure what is going to happen, we'll see how it plays out............
